Is it crazy to get the MGS collection even though I already have the PS3 version? Having a portable MGS3 on my memory stick sounds pretty appealing.

I did it. In fact recently when I replayed MGS3, I would switch back and forth simply because I totally dug playing Snake Eater on my Vita.

I don't think I've played and finished enough Vita games to make a top 5. Right now I think it'd only be: Uncharted, Gravity Rush and Virtue's Last Reward.

I had a really good mission last night in Unit 13 where I went nuts. All of my friends had scores in the mid to high 80k range and I finished with almost 120k. I don't know what happened but after dying a few times I went into the zone like kobe against the raptors. Got like 6 trophies during that 1 mission too.

I suck at that game so much but I sometimes have these moments where I pull off some great stuff too.
Id love to see another attempt at a game like that. Unit 13 is pretty great.

The sale is still going on the HD Collection, right? If so, do it.
I have both. I actually prefer the handheld version.

EDIT: Looks like today is the last day to get the last weeks deals. If you want MGS HD for cheap, do it now.

Best new portable IP of the generation :

Best PSM game :

1 ) Super Crate Box
2 ) Surge
3 ) Alien Breed
4 ) Rebel
5 ) Lemmings

Great list, but I had a question about Alien Breed ... is it like the PSN remake?

I'm kind of torn with my top list.. I really like Wipeout as well, and am especially sad that it's probably the last Wipeout game.

Gravity Rush/Daze always looks so crappy in screenshots.

Having played the demo though it actually looks really good.

Also is there any footage of Sly 4 on the Vita.
I'm worried its just going to be a crap PS3 port.

Weaaaaaak.
That's not a lot of sale content.
I pretty much own everything in it too. :(

Maybe I'll pick up Touch My Katamari...
Everyone else should pick up Lumines. And I guess Sound Shapes (I find it really hard to get excited about Sound Shapes any more...)

It's great, I really enjoyed it and would definitely recommend to get it if you like any of the previous Hot shot golf's.

I've never played any game of the series ever, and the only golf game I have ever played was some game made by microsoft (I think) on Windows 95 when I was a really young kid. I do remember enjoying it though so that's why I'm considering this.

There's a demo. If you enjoy that, buy it. But really it's $10 until the store updates, a perfect impulse buy.

Yeah, you've got about 5 minutes on that, most likely. I think last Monday the sale switch over at 12pm EST.

And these sale games are not the likely PS+ content, for those that keep asking. Morgan Haro said on the blog that the games on sale wouldn't be in PS+ any time soon.

Maybe that means we will see MK Vita as a PS+ title eventually... but for now it's still garbage.

Hits shots is fantastic and great online

Also luminescent is great but is that a good price for it? I don't really do dollars but I got it digitally for £13

No, but it's in no way "crap". From impressions it's great. It's also native res, and the developers (who are also doing the PS3 version - they aren't sending the outsourcing the Vita port) said they want it to be a graphical showcase title for Vita.

(screens resized to more accurately reflect what they would look like on a Vita screen. I did this by having the same image on both the Vita and various sizes on the computer until IQ and aliasing most closely reflected what we see on the Vita's screen.)

Thanks, if this is true (and the game is good of course) its a day 1 purchase for me.

No, it's a remake of the original amiga games with better 2d graphics but way easier difficulty.

How does the Sly 4 cross buy work? Is it like PlayStation All Stars where you need to buy the PS3 version to get the Vita version, or can you buy any version and get the other for free?

No. This wouldn't be fair, because if you bought the Vita version and got the PS3 version free you would only be spending $40, whereas it would be $60 the other way around. So yes, you buy the PS3 version and get the digital Vita version free.

Sly 4 looks like it'll be a good port but after how mediocre the other games are I don't think I could shell out $40 for the Vita version. Hopefully someone will have a credit deal going for it (yeah right).

So, I've heard that Chronovolt is complete garbage and a contender for the worst game on the system. Still the case?

I've got WiFi only, and plenty of storage. Is it really so bad that it's not worth free?

From the trailer I saw it looked fine except for the framerate which seemed to tank in some levels. I'm guessing something about the framerate, controls, or the puzzles themselves didn't turn out too well.

Not worth the bandwidth if you have a cap.

Not worth the bandwidth period.

Lowest it's ever been on PSN. I bought it for $36, it got price dropped to $30 recently... $17? that's about the best you'll get for digital and rivals the $15 you'd pay if you found the physical card on sale... yes, it takes up a gig, but it's a game that, IMO, is worth always having on your card for quick play.

Worse than retro city rampage? I couldn't even force myself past the first story mission.

If anything that game reminds us that the majority of NES games were fucking terrible, or at the very least aged horribly.

Oh wow, interesting. I might check that and Aqua Kitty out. Also I had a question for your list:

How are Dynasty Warriors Next and Knytt Underground? I love the concept and art style of Knytt, I just wasn't sure if it was a meaty game. I keep hearing DW Next is one of the best in the series, and that it's pretty replayable. I'm considering getting both, just wanted to know your opinion :)

Damn

What a shock

For one thing, there is an awful amount of graphical slowdown throughout play, making some of the tighter sections far more difficult to complete than they should be.

But the real issue is that the entire game just feels unfinished and unpolished. Animations are irksome in such a way that if you jump on a platform that's moving up you'll keep bouncing awkwardly rather than moving up smoothly.

Fall through the floor and you'll find it's just a single layer with nothing underneath it. It's as if you're falling out of the game entirely, and it feels incredibly amateurish.

Then you've got buggy text boxes that occasionally flash up the wrong text for a moment, terrible draw distance that adds and removes the backdrop as you move closer and further away, and movement that's not tight enough at all.

And that's not all - Chronovolt soon reveals itself to be a pay-to-win game. You start with only one type of ball, and with this you can't get three stars on the majority of levels, simply because you're not fast enough.

However, if you pay 99p, you unlock a bunch of extra balls that are faster and stronger, allowing you to buy your way up the highscore tables.

This is false. I have all the speed stars and didn't pay anything.

Those Sly shots are great! Been hyped for the game since it's announcement, I trust Sanzaru. Didn't think i'd be looking forward to the Vita version back then though :D

Pocket Gamer and Venturebeat seem to have an agenda against the vita and their writers are being paid to act dickish,i hope no one give these sites hits.

I feel the same way about Jim Sterling at Destructoid. He's needlessly venomous towards my beloved handheld.
