Vita PSN Game & Service Thread 2

Oh wow, interesting. I might check that and Aqua Kitty out. Also I had a question for your list:

How are Dynasty Warriors Next and Knytt Underground? I love the concept and art style of Knytt, I just wasn't sure if it was a meaty game. I keep hearing DW Next is one of the best in the series, and that it's pretty replayable. I'm considering getting both, just wanted to know your opinion :)

Aqua kitty is easily the best psm game, an example of how a "16 bit" inspired game should look and sound, very funny but it become very very difficult near the end(but not impossible tough).

I'm really loving knytt underground, it's a relaxing, charming and non-violent metroidvania with not so frequent enemies that are more like obstacles to surpass with your ability than real enemies, it has even interesting background stories and characters.

I was not a fan of dynasty warriors games but i spent 60 hours on dwn(a little less than 30 for the campaign mode and most of the rest for the conquest mode), it's really funny imo, i liked the touchscreen features too, they add more variety to the gameplay, the game is full of contents, there's even an encyclopedia on the 3 reigns. I want people to notice that dwn:
-has good looking graphics:
-is native res
-has some AA(if i remember correctly)
-has lots of people on screen
-every single character has a detailed shadow that is well projected even on stairs
I really don't understand why it's not considered one of the best developed game.

EDIT:
top of the page! Other than knytt underground, aqua kitty and dynasty warriors next, buy cristal mines(for psp) if you want to spend your next 2 or 3 months with an infamous old school action puzzle game with 300 levels.

One of the problems with writing "profesional reviews" is time and the pressure that comes with it. This is something that can create quite a gap between reviews and the "normal gamers". (wich a lot of reviewers are, too, but that's a whole other story)

Also, reviewers are given games wich are totally out of their taste zone, and some things can be said about that, both positive and negative. But for example, and this happened to a friend of mine whom I respect; he had to review a J-SRPG and that are two thing wich he doesn't like, wich resulted in a quite mediocre conclusion. It felt like a reviewer for a magazine about classical music had to write about a random Eagles album.
Not the best example, but I hope you understand what I mean. :P

Man, this thread goes fast...

Their first review of Most Wanted vita was totally lol-worthy, they were just plain lying about the content in the game (content that you can find playing the game just 5 minutes), in fact, that review was taken down the same day iirc

Dynasty Warriors Next has really dumb and annoying touch implementation, but aside from that it's a pretty solid Musou game.

I only played the demo so I'd like to know if the full game levels are as small and short as the one in the demo? Even without using the overpowered touch stuff that wipes a base out in 1 hit you could easily do the whole thing in less than 5 minutes. The KO count was a lot lower too.

Maps have different dimensions but one of the best thing of the game is that any mission can be done in few minutes.

Just wondering what the next steps are for PSM. I've invested in about 4 titles and looking for more.

Mostly interested on the app side

I was wondering the same. I really hope some popular Android apps make it over the PSM. I posted on the dev site for BeyondPod to ask for that to come to Vita. If some other apps like Evernote or TextPlus came to PSM I'd be pretty happy. I bought the Vita for gaming but it would nice to have these apps as well.

Oh wow, I didn't know that Knytt was metroidvania? Even more points for it, I'll be getting it then. I'm sold on Aqua Kitty as well, the art style just looks awesome. DW Next will be my next cart purchase I think you sold me on that too, I'm pretty torn between that and DJMAX (pretty different tastes I know) but I enjoy quite a few genres.

Although there is zero chance of this happening, PSM should just go full Android device. The Vita could just be another platform to run Android. Dual boot, Vita OS and Android.

I am probably a page or 2 late knowing this but so pumped that lumines is on sale this week on the PSN. It isn't the $15 I was hoping for but it is close enough.

Also someone needs to talk me off the ledge for Katamari.

It's the closest you'll get for a long time, I'd wager.

And I think I'm going to pick up Katamari -- most people say it's authentic and their main complaint is getting the currency necessary to buy the extra levels. That and the lack of a platinum. But I don't mind working at getting the currency in game if it feels like a Katamari game and I don't mind the lack of a platinum. It's annoying, but not a deal breaker for a little over $10.

Everyone who has plus should consider Hot Shots Golf while it is on discount.

I have played so damn much of it. It's like having a PS3 version of Hot Shots on a portable. I'm just about done with the Pro challenges now.

Unit 13 is another undervalued title IMO. It's a steal for $13.

Lumines should be $15 with PS+ during the sale. They're basing the discount off of the original price, but they dropped the MSRP of the game to $30 two weeks ago on the store.

Just finished LittleBigPlanet Vita, literally since the credits are rolling at this very moment. Great platformer and a brilliant LittleBigPlanet!

From what I've read, lots of people were saying the level design was pretty bad. Very short levels of which some are very similar too. I've seen someone mention it had only like 2 hours of content. I haven't played it myself, so not too sure really. I also wanted to get it since I loved the PS2 entries, but yeah, impressions are pretty bad.

Is it normal that the live area updates before the store? Both Jetpack Joyride and Chronovolt are showing up but when you click on them it says they're not available

Did not expect Virtues Last reward to go on for 30+ hours. Overall, great game except for having to trudge through repeat cut scenes. 8/10

After persona and VLR, think it's finally time to start PSABR, LBP Vita, Virtua Tennis or Assassins Creed.

Vita backlog :/ (lol, yay!)

PS all stars online is broken beyond belief, can't even connect to a match after a 2 minute 'searching for opponents' message.

Sounds like your WiFi is broken beyond belief. The only time I had problems with that game online was when I was far from my router.

Sweet, my patience has finally paid off for lumines. I absolutely knew i wanted it digital on my mem card but $40 was a hard sale. Bought mgs hd earlier and will get Lumines when it updates. Will have enough left to get the civil war pinball table.

Anyone on the fence Katamari is a great game, especially at that price. I may even re-install it with new people getting it on sale for the challenge requests.

Sonic:

1. Runs great
2. Looks great
3. Plays Great

BUY BUY BUY

:D Glad you got it and are happy with it. It's pretty amazing. We need to be PSN friends to play online sometime.

I like Jetpack Joyride. I mean, it's essentially the same as the iOS/Android versions, but tapping/holding the rear touchpad is superior in this particular instance since it's not hard or annoying and it gets your hand out of the way of the touchscreen.

I'm playing through the first few levels of Chronovault and so far so good. The art is fantastic and the native resolution makes everything looks super clean and sharp.

But yeah, simply falling through the map when falling off a platform doesn't look too hot.

What came out first, CTR or DKR? They were both so good.

I haven't enjoyed a Mario Kart since 64 but I never played DD.

PS: Native res! Sharp as a knife!

The illustrations are great, but the game itself is no good.

Considering Sony seems to be courting small independent developers for PSN titles on the Vita, I'm surprised they haven't approached Klei. The 2012 metacritic thread is making me interested in Mark of the Ninja, but I'd prefer not to play it on PC (for standing desk reasons). I need some 2D games to tide me over until Vanillaware fills my gullet.

Pretty decent update today. Got Chronovolt, Jetpack Joyride, and (finally) Sound Shapes.

Still thinking Lumines will go lower, so I'll hold off on that.
