I could use some recommendations. I'll be getting a replacement Vita soon, and I've boughten Persona 4 in the meantime, so I'll be looking for games to go along with it.

look into half minute hero on the psp...
and then ask that you say what type of games interest you before I give any other recommendations as unless you give me filters to reduce the games to recommend I might as well just link you to metacritic by all time score for the vita and maybe for the psp as well and tell you to look into the games rated 75 or above because I haven't a clue what you would want in a game :P

well I guess I was lied to! That will definitely save me some time whenever I get around to buying a bigger hdd.

Just remember to delete any large game install data (for games that don't have huge multi-GB patches) before backing up. It's faster to delete them and reinstall from disc rather than backing them up along with all the other stuff and reinstalling.

I bought uncharted 2 digitally a while ago and oh my god downloading that game took forever.

it's like 22gb :/

More on topic - I'm so jelly you Americans get EDF today :( I have to wait two weeks! (To get paid)

Finished Knytt Underground Yesterday but I need to play it deeper because I didn't get any trophy :D even having explored 1400 rooms and completing almost every mission :D

Amazing game, entertaining platforming puzzle like I didn't play in years :D

I started FFIX yesterday, and wow!. How charming it is!. I like it is a step forward from prior entries in animations and exploration in towns. Sometimes it is like a graphic adventure. Really impressed.

Those trophies and secret rooms seem impossible :P
Chapter 3 is huuuuuuge!

Enjoy the journey. The game is simple oozing with charm and quality.

Here's a question. I've been considering getting rid of my Wifi Vita and upgrading to the 3g Vita. I feel like I'm missing out on something by not having a 3g vita. Like Near would be infinitely more useful if I was able to use it everywhere. To the people who have the 3g version, is there anything else that makes this unit worth having?

Hello Vitacats, Vitadudes, Vitabros, Vitamoms, Vitagals, Vitadads. My first post here. Been a lurker here for about 3 months. Just got the account approved today. Bought my vita at launch. Bought the 3g version and got the 4gig and wipeout UK version free. Want to buy a 32 gb but a bit satisfied with my 4gb and 16gb cards. And I also agree to the general opinion regarding which games to buy. My game list will bring some smiles here at gaf. All are digital unless specified. Oh and add me to your friend lists. barry_matharoo

Have played demo of Soul sacrifice and it was phenomenal.

and vita has no GAEMZ!

@Douche McBaggins don't bother the 3g plans are too expensive. I have never used 3g on my vita. The only advantage 3g has is asynchronous gameplay [chess, hot shot golf etc], near and app such as twitter and FB. Also 3g has download limit of 20mb per file.

Completed Gravity Rush Chapter 11 no real challenge to get the gold medal in the time attacks... we'll see the last ones...

I was open enough to not be specific, but since you asked nicely... :P

Anyway, I've mostly been eyeing RPGs and the like, more or less, but outside of that, I don't have too much in mind. The only other Vita games I've gotten before were UMvC 3 and Disgaea 3, if it helps any. Also, I really need to play that Soul Sacrifice demo. :o

Have you played a lot of psp/ps1 games? The rpg offerings on the vita are pretty barren beyond disgaea 3 and persona 4 for straight up vita games, hopefully some of the games from japan make their way over this year.

The only other games that come to mind that are vita games would be Ragnarok Odyssey (not so much an rpg but a loot grinding game from what I understand) and Virtues Last Reward (not an RPG but has strong writing and branching paths of a story... it's a lot like an RPG without the combat :P)

So I finally finished Uncharted:GA over the weekend. It was one of my first Vita games from launch, but I had stopped playing at chapter 29. I have to say, those 2 swipe based boss fights really soured my experience. I'm already in the camp that hates QTEs and those felt like overlong, boring and frustrating QTEs. I played both Uncharted 1 and 2 on Crushing, but I'm not playing GA again to do it.

I was just playing it a few mins ago. It looks so nice on the OLED screen. Each time I find something new in this game, even if it's just a small item on a shop-owner's shelf I never noticed before. Or an out of the way obscure message from a townsperson. Little details throughout amaze me even after playing through the game 8+ times over the years. Every pre-rendered background feels like they spent an enormous amount of time and effort on them. You can really tell a lot of love went into making this game.

I did used to have several PS1 games under my older US account, but I intend to use the Vita with my newer one, and I'd hate to go through the hassle of re-buying everything. Out of what I had (RPG or otherwise), though, was FFIX, RE2, Silent Hill, Bloody Roar 2, Parasite Eve and Chrono Cross, and the only PSP games I remember buying were Fate Unlimited Codes and Ultimate Ghosts 'n Goblins. I've very much have been eyeing Virtue's Last Reward, GAF hype and all, but I'm not too familiar with the Ragnarok series, although Odyssey did look interesting.

I dislike every Uncharted boss to a degree, but Golden Abyss is the only game in th series for which I am determined to never fight them a second time. If something possesses me to start a Crushing playthrough after I buy the game for realsies, I will skip those chapters. No trophy is worth that agony.

btw i was being serious with half minute hero it's a solid overlooked game.

beyond that the other RPGs of interest for the psp (that may or may not be on the psn/playable on the vita I am not sure you would have to look into that) are the 4 Ys games (origin aka 1-2, oath, seven and neph (which I don't think is on the psn)) legend of heros trails in the sky (it spells TitS do you really need to know more :P jk/jk) Disgaea 1/2, phantom brave, jeanne d'arc, star ocean 1/2, tactics ogre, valkyria chronciles 2, valkyrie profile lenneth, and final fantasy 4. there are others but those are the ones that quickly come to mind for me. for the PS1 chrono cross was awesome and is one of the newer ps1 releases (in the last 18 months or so) grandia is also interesting.

I tried Half minute hero and it was boring very fast. Interesting idea but should have never been made into full retail product.

it's best in bursts, which is why I find it well suited to a handheld. it's a great game to pick up for 15 min every few weeks or so.

The only one of those that caused me any frustration was the very last one, and in hindsight I think that was down to my own tiredness because I went back in later and pretty much aced it.

If only they brought the card game from 8 into 9....

So EDF - can someone give me a basic rundown of the style/feel of the game? Is it an ARPG with loot and leveling? Or is it just an action game?

It's a loot game where the actual gameplay is gunning down a massive amounts of alien insects.

Got a 32GB card from Amazon in the mail and i couldn't be happier.

Since i got my vita for Christmas i bought 10+ games and still have 3 gigs left over. Definitely embracing the digital aspect. Shame that these cards cost an arm and a leg.

Why do I feel like Vita is still the red-headed stepchild?

Even papa Sony doesn't like him very much.

Where is the love Sony, its your own son?!

Where is the love?!!

Good games have been and will be released for it but don't expect sony to support it like their home cinsoles.

This announcement of Pokemon X and Y for 3DS is going to be killer for the Vita. Where are our Vita megatons, Sony?

Talk of AR makes me wish they had released the AR museum for wipeout :(
I was looking forward to that too. Is there any chance that Wipeout 2048 will get patched even though Liverpool is dead (RIP)?

LBP Vita save files are huge. I haven't touched anything other than story/arcade levels (just onto the second area) and it's already 53MB.

Wow, I'd forgotten it was on the 16th. Had it in my head it was a couple of months away. Not sure if I'll pick it up immediately though. Hopefully there is a PS+ discount? Maybe? I can pray?

Hmm what ?

When you buy NIntendo platform it's obvious you will get at least 6 rehashed games each gen

- pokemon X/Y (insert two random colors here)
- Mario Kart
- Smash Bros
- 2D Mario
- 3D Mario
- new Zelda

The pokemon release on 3DS is as suprising as new part of Call of Duty being released in 2013.

I think i've bought enough games, and had more than enough fun now to justify my Vita purchase even if Sony announces tomorrow that they're completely dropping support for it.

I don't really care to be honest. For all of the haters it has, it has a ton of great games and i've had a ton more fun with it than i've had with any other system in its first year.

Obviously i want more great games, but whatever.

Going to sell shitloads just for being the first title in 3D, but yeah I dont see it affecting Vita sales.

If Sony announces to drop support tomorrow, we still have FuturLab on friday!
