Vita PSN Game & Service Thread 2

Noooo. RIP this thread. I saw all those Vita threads last night before I went to sleep and knew push was going to come to shove.

I'm not a fan of the monthly threads, but I'm just glad we get to keep the thread in some form.

Edit: Top of page. Get Sound Shapes! Visual and Aural gaming perfection.

Elaborate. :o

Ninja Theory. Although NT is slowly getting back more rep. But yeah, basic structure is "Mentions Subject" -> "Canned Responses", those who wanted to talk about the subject eventually just moves on as there is no need to punch the wall.

Maybe it's an effect from my ban, but I rarely discuss much in gaming side anymore, specifically Vita, barring this thread, for fear. It's sad, because I like to think I can add to discussions and would like to share my thoughts and opinions, but then I second guess myself and don't bother.

I wonder how many board members do the same?

This happens to me too, which is the reason why I rarely post, though it may also have to do with my sloppy writing in english.

I think monthly threads would be a more refreshing approach to the threads in contrast to megathreads.

There's no need to worry about being banned if you endeavor to engage other posters in respectful discussion. Dismissing others with one-liners or calling out nebulous "GAF" instead of responding to individual posters, whining about threads, etc. are what get people banned. We are trying to promote an environment where people will talk to each other instead of making drive-by posts. Do that and you'll be fine.

But I've seen some non-discussion, dry by posts that go the other way and hardly foster open discussion. It looks like bait, and antagonistic.

What does it matter? The last post in the February thread will be a link to the first post in the March thread.
The only difference is that the OP is actually up to date and useful and that you have to update your bookmark every month if you use bookmarks.

Ohh gotcha. Yeah that was horrible for people who actually liked what they saw/played of DmC.

If you see something like that and you feel it's crossed the line, you can bring it to a mod's attention. This forum is huge and it moves very quickly - sometimes we just don't see everything.

I think a monthly thread is a great Idea. I constantly forget there is information on page 1 of this thread. A monthly thread will always have updated info on the first page and updated links to the other vita threads.

As long as this thread lives on, I'm good.

There are a few topics that always devolve to the same at this point. Vita, Bioware, Michael Pachter, David Cage just to name a few. Threads get filled with "hilarious" one-liners and it's impossible to have any sort of discussion.

It's hard to point to a mod at one specific joke post as the problem when it's the sheer number of them that kills discussion.

I (try to) keep my bookmarks clean by utilizing GAFs subscription tool. Instead of being subbed to one, I'll just be subbing to multiple threads about the same topic. Also, Bookmarks arent the way to go either if you are browsing on multiple devices that don't have the same browsers.

Just a minor gripe.

so my thoughts on everything.
Love the monthly thread idea, it will help keep the thread fresh and the OP relevant.

I think the OP should be a joint effort of the vitaGaF (which it likely will be) include release dates for each region, and links to other vita threads, possibly including the relevant ps+ info for the vita updated as it comes in.

I think the poster of the thread should be one of the more active members that doesn't get banned so that we can keep it up to day, and/or if we can get an active mod that doesn't mind being PMed when we need an update that would be good too as many things can change in a months time before a new thread is made.

I'm also all on board with keeping discussions about the other vita threads out of here (and will make sure to do so myself in the future), sometimes the urge to complain about all of the doom does well up though as it tends to ruin threads I otherwise would be interested in. I mean I thought the MH exclusive thing would be an interesting read but 95% of the posts were just about how the vita is doomed and such a thing didn't matter :/ As you said though I can just easily ignore them (and I do once I figure out they are another doomed thread) but it's still tiresome to repeatedly see people have nothing more to add to the conversation of a thread than the vita or even the wiiu is doomed (or other things like that) and yet they repeatedly have to go in and add that :/. I understand it's hard to stay on top of everything though, and want to thank you for what you have done so far.

We could have someone new make the thread each month or something. *shrug*

That could work too, just mostly I am hoping we can keep OPs that don't get banned so if PSN announcements about things we are getting in that month come we can update it. It's far to common that we learn of a game coming to the vita only a week or two before it comes :/

WHAT THE SHIT

i didn't know the vita would automatically delete pages without icons on it :|

ughhh why does sorting bubbles have to be such a goddamn chore on this OS

That's the plan so far. Ideas for sub-sections in the OP are appareciated, since I'm still working on organizing the thing. So far though, the sections are:

- Monthly Game Releases (By Region, with info like pricing if available.)
- Game of the Month (Expanding on our little top of the page recommendation, highlighting a specific game that's generally well-liked and detailing it's features.)
- ???? (This is a Secret!)
- FAQ (For common questions about stuff related to memory cards, expanded PS+ Functionality, Screencap hosting options, etc)
- Links to Other Threads (Game OTs, Hardware Thread, Upcoming Releases, etc)

I think I've got all the release info for retail games jotted down, but surprise 1 week until release PSN games are always a bitch to keep track of. :P

I call a month where I can troll in the OP about how the system is dead and everyone that posts in the thread is dead like the Sixth Sense. Can I?

I don't want to.

Also at the mods: Sorry, but I feel you're killing discussions more than helping. Yes, the "echochamber" in this thread has to go, but when 99% of system threads suddenly go in "poor sales->NO GAEMZ->NO U THE SYSTEM TOTALLY HAZ GAMEZ!->*whine about "weekly/monthly/DOOMZ" thread (ban)->Well the system would probably be better if it had a price-drop and some GAEMZ->NO BECAUSE TEHN IT'D STILL HAZ POOR SAELZ LULZ->poor sales data->repeat->forever and ever more" has to go as well. You want most of this thread to come out of the "echochamber?" How about policing the system's "DOOMED" threads and actually trying to steer some discussion? Like Square Triangle's thread/OP was basically trollin' about "OMG POOR SALEZ RIP SYSTEM" and the bandwagon goes on. Why should some of the posters in this thread go into those threads? Or make threads for the system where drive-by trolls will come in?

I mean, I ain't hatin' on you for doing this as it's been needed to be done but at the same time the cycle of DOOMZ threads needs to be broken, personally.

It definitely looks like that, but I hope it isn't.
We don't like thread whining, because it's a content-less discussion blocker. If you go into a thread and say "oh god lol, another VITA IS DOOMED THREAD thisisneogaf.gif," then that has a very high chance of repercussions. If you don't want to get banned, don't do it. And that's the last thing I'm going to say about this subject.

A few weeks ago Sony teased that news about Killzone and Tearway would be coming soon. It looks like next week is when they're showing games to the press, there's an event in Liverpool.

Source is twitter but I can't quite find the link right now, it's buried under some other mega thread.

Destination Playstation?

Content-less discussion blocker is exactly the problem with these threads.

That's a retailer event later next month, this is a press event.

Yosp arrived in London so something is going on.

Well that's awesome news :£

Also part if the game of the month should be a multiplayer tournament!

Wonderfully said.

So my Gamestop is doing a 20% off closing sale, is there anything coming out for the vita before Feb 3rd that I should pick up some Psn points for? I know I'm grabbing sly 4 on Psn for the ps3 but that's all I can think of. Not grabbing ratchet and clank sadly, just didn't enjoy the beta.

I'm fine with a monthly thread. As long as all the current Vitabros continue to follow it and so long as there's a link to the previous month's thread on every new thread.

In the next gen threads people have been quoting sources that say be ready for more leaks on Monday (tomorrow), and now we know that event is happening next week. I think it was eurogamer who tweeted that it's an event for sony's studios to show off their new games for the first time to the press.

So when yosp says "I doubt it", he's talking about conventional news releases, not leaks since you obviously can't plan on something you don't want happening to happen. So get back on that hype train just in case :P

Having a bit of a vita crisis here. Can someone offer any tips?

I was playing sound shapes and decided to check out the news feed. Unfortunately i hit a button that takes you to the website for SS. It wasn't loading up the page so I quit out of that. When I went back to sound shapes it wasn't responding either.

So this is when it gets weird. I get back to the OS menu and my icons are there but my wallpapers are gone. There's nothing but the icons and blackness. So I decided to power it off and it freezes at the off/on menu.

Now the system doesn't repsond and only the blue ps vita light is on. Is there any way to hard power down the system are am I goning to have to wait for the battery to give out? :/

Hold down the power button for 30 seconds then select 'restart the Vita'.
