Now the system doesn't repsond and only the blue ps vita light is on. Is there any way to hard power down the system are am I goning to have to wait for the battery to give out? :/
Try holding in the home button(blue light) + R + power button for about 20-30 seconds.

EDIT: I need to do this top of the page thing so Senran Kagura is out in a month in Japan and it looks like a fun Musou-like game with boobs so pre-order now and get pre-order bonus + artbook + drama CD set

I'm so lost.
Will the heart and soul of this thread be allowed to survive in the monthly threads? Or is that a no-no now? If it is, can we at least get a concession of allowing a community thread or something?

I like have a place where I can hang out with people who also appreciate their Vita and want to discuss things about it, whether it be regulars talking about the new games their playing and maybe helping a game get more plays (see: Carl; MBA) or newbies asking questions in an environment where people are happy to answer and welcome them in and try to help...

If we lose the ability to do the above, I suppose I'll see you guys who are playing the Toma Let's Play games in his threads but otherwise, I'll probably cut back on the time I spend here.

Try holding in the home button(blue light) + R + power button for about 20-30 seconds.

What does this do?

Edit:

I feel the need to further elaborate.
(1) I don't think this thread is as "insular" as Aeana implies, as we have tons of people here who wander in, say "I just bought a Vita and it's wonderful" or something to that effect and are welcomed into what I would term as the "community" with open arms.
(2) In reference to this:

2) The meta discussion about other members, threads and the forum itself are not welcome. From here on out, that type of discussion will be treated just as it is in the rest of the forum. If you have a problem with a particular thread or member, by all means bring it to a moderator's attention and if it crosses the line, it will be dealt with, but do not derail threads - including this one - with that sort of discussion any further.

So if we're banning people like Carl and other "members of VitaGAF" for making comments pointing out when a discussion has gone south, as was implied earlier in this thread when I and others asked why Carl had been banned (this time) and was pointed to his post showing that the MH thread had derailed into a doom and gloom for Vita thread... does this mean that those who turn threads into "Vita is doomed" will also be getting a sound thumping with the banning stick?

Hold down the power button for 30 seconds then select 'restart the Vita'.
Yep. I forgot this was the thing to do. I wasn't holding down the power button long enough. Thanks.

Was freaky. The awesome menu music wasn't even playing. That's when you know the Vita done messed up.

SMH. You (and Square admittedly) are part of the problem.

Thanks for killing Square's best female character and series, duder.
It was a good game and the series would have been dead after 3rd Birthday no matter if its story was written by Matsuno or Toriyama.

Besides, due to it not really being a Parasite Eve game, I guess they could get the license back & still make a Parasite Eve 3 that ignores what happened in 3rd Birthday.

What does this do?

It's seems more like haut we have a monthly thread so the OP is kept updated and we keep Convo about other threads out if here. Otherwise business as usual

So guys, playing Dynasty Warriors Next demo had me surprised at having a DW game that is competent enough and solid 0_0 It's actually pretty good?

The game doesn't seem to be mentioned often, but what did you think of the game? It might be worth getting (never thought there would come a day where I find a DW game to be decent)?

DWN is a really solid Musou title. It's probably one of the better Warriors games to date, trumped by only a few(Warriors Orochi, DW7, etc). The gimmicks in the game that were shoehorned in to show off what the Vita can do are kind of annoying, however. But other than those forced minigames, it's awesome.

unless the so-called heart and soul of this thread is complaining about other threads, i'm sure things will be just fine.

I'm playing it currently and yeah touch mini-games feel very forced but core gameplay is solid.

Do they have any other EU studios they can close?

SCE London was apparently betting a lot on Wonderbook, and we all know how "well" Book of Spells sold in North America...

Of course it'll probably be Cambridge right after they ship Killzone: Mercenary to continue the long standing tradition of having Sony studios axed right after making a Vita game. I wonder if the irony is lost on Sony?

Why do we assume it's closing something and not creation of new teams or business tals with third party ?

They will need tons of software in 2014 to feed both vita and ps4.

Wonderbook was a SCEE product, aimed at refocusing the PS3 towards a family/casual audience together with the 12 GB model. Much like SingStar, SCEA didn't really know what to do with it.

I've actually been playing it in the last week or two and at the core it's pretty good. It is dynasty warriors.

However the overall experience is dragged down by the ungodly amount of Vita gimmicks that were unnecessarily tacked on. You will do an overly annoying and dragged out touch only boss battle in 99% of battles you do, and in each battle you'll come across at least 1 ambush gimmick that requires you to rapidly tap enemies before they get to you or swipe the projectiles they throw. There are also some missions from past DW games that have been relegated to shitty gimmick minigames. Like Guan Yu escaping from Cao Cao's army, it's handled entirely by navigating around a twisting map by only using the Vita's gyro sensor.

All of these gimmicks are not that bad when taken 1 at a time. But if you're going for the trophies (which are reeeeeally grindy and require probably 80+ hours) or are just going to play the game a lot then they can really wear on you.

I have picked up Persona 4 Golden recently and am so incredibly into it. I recommend it, but not before Persona 3 Portable. Haters gonna hate, but that's easily the best PSP game I've played thus far.

Those 1 on 1 battles killed the game for me. I could ignore most of the touch stuff, although having the ability to command your two generals via the touch map was nice.

But yeah fuck that 1 on 1. Completely ruined the game for me.

gif paradise

Nice.

I take that the game is loved around here :3

@The Grim Heaper
That sounds reasonable. I've tried older DW games before, this one is clearly better than those. The touch screen gimmick is forced but it's not too bad, it adds a bit of variety with an otherwise pretty repetitive hack and slasher, albeit a solid one at that. Also, the graphics look pretty good, the game runs fluid too. Is it 60fps?

@corrosivefrost
Don't worry. The thread should be fine if we stick to having a monthly one made. We'll get to keep the community just the way it is, I'm sure of it :)

Yeah they get annoying when you're forced to do one every battle. When I got to the 20+ hour mark I just wanted to get through some of these maps for officer cards or weapons or whatever, and I could breeze through most maps in 3 minutes. But then you're forced to do a touch fight where it doesn't matter how much stronger your guy is and you can easily die if the swipes don't register properly...which happens often.

Another thing I don't like is how poor conquest mode is planned out. The territory level mechanic is horrible and can result in nasty stalemates that last for dozens of turns. They really should have let you attack whatever area you wanted to as long as it connects to yours. I've done 5 forces maps that progressed smoothly until it was just me and another force left and each of us had around 8-12 territories. But his surrounding his ruler (if you capture the ruler's territory you take his whole land) were all level 12 and my border regions were either 12 or lower, so I couldn't attack. So he would attack one of my regions and I'd be able to respond by only having 1 area to attack. This would go back and forth for so many turns that it was clear it was never going to progress to where I could attack the ruler so I just quit.

Coming from someone like you who doesn't like (touch) gimmicks, it's positive that you think the game is pretty good at the core despite these affecting your enjoyment. Usually gimmicks are not that big of a deal to me unless they're downright horrible.

Yeah, I had a quick look at the trophy list and it did look very grindy. Not sure if I'd go for that. Hopefully the game will be on sale soon, I wouldn't mind getting into a proper DW game for the first time if it's at least solid with its main mechanics.

I played the demo recently too and had similar thoughts. I wasn't expecting much but I thought it was pretty fun, even the kind of dumb minigame things. I can see them getting tiresome quickly though. Thinking about buying the full game, I have a handful of other games I've yet to finish though.

Don't think I've ever really hit the stalemate. Conquest mode is the main campaign mode right? At best you get like two choices and rarely did any of them ever lead me to a stalemate like that.

But regardless, I really hope the eventual sequel brings in proper kingdom's mode.

Played the first few levels of Sound Shapes. Hmmmmmmm... not yet sure what to think. Need more time with it.

I'll say two things though. I'm not a huge fan of the physics, and the visuals are pretty (sometimes).

Stick with it...starts slightly boring both visually and audibly however it gets better...MUCH BETTER

Don't you DARE leave, my friend. We have to all stick together on the new threads. LOVE VitaGAF. I don't want to see any members of it not posting as much anymore because of this.

Ok, so what do you guys think should be the format for the monthly threads? I was thinking something small and simple like:

- The month releases for US/EU/JAP.
- Relevant news for that month. New firmware updates, sales, etc.
- Links to sister threads, like all the releases, let's play psx classics, hardware thread etc.

What really killed the idea of Dynasty Warriors for me is being completely unable to get the platinum.

It's bad enough trying to find 3 local people that own a Vita. If you add to that the fact that they need to actually like Dynasty Warriors...

I'm pretty new around here, actually I'm still shitting green.

Is this thread going to be shut down?
Sorry if its a sore subject.

i'm assuming relevant news includes what is currently free for ps+ as well what is coming to it that we know? as that always seems to be a hot question and the ps plus thread in general isn't very up to date on that in the op

Yeah, and PS+ deals/free games would be a good idea, too.

You know what's funny, though? These threads move so fast that the 20,000 post limit is usually covered to two months at the latest, so it's not even going to be much different.

Kind of bummed that the mods are squashing any and all OTs now unless they're monthly or a game's OT. I guess a monthly one is better than none, eh? This thread is my last bastion of hope as a Vita owner and fan. All the people who come here are usually awesome, helpful and supportive.

I'm getting so bored with Motorstorm RC - I just want to finish the DLC and get %100 of the trophies but ughhh am I getting burned out. I really want to move onto something else but I know once I put it down I'll probably never touch it again - same thing with Sound Shapes. I need to go back to that and do the DLC.

This thread is to be replaced with monthly threads on the latest Vita games/stuff in general, instead of just one big thread.

That might work out better in the long run.
I suppose its hard to dig back in one giant thread to find out about earlier title releases.

I quite liked reading this thread from a lurkers point of view. Plenty of good info buried within.

so, is the only option from an australian-buying-on-us-psn'er still only prepaid cards? nobody has worked out another way?
I've just been buying digital cards from Amazon so it hasn't been a problem for me. No extra charge and instant delivery.

I think the monthly thread coinciding with the PS1 monthly play through is a neat idea. It'll definitely bring more exposure.

Personally: keep the OP short and clean. One banner image, release date information, and links to previous month's thread plus other Vita relevant discussion. No need for a million images.

I love the game, but like others have said the touch screen and motion control stuff sucks.

thanks. did you have any problems registering with amazon? do i need to provide a bogus US address? and what payment option do you use?

Basically did you encounter any hurdles?

So tempted to buy something off the store tonight, I need an rpg to sink my teeth into but with the sale looming this week I am hesitant.

How are the Ys games? Which one would you Vitabros recommend to someone new to the series? Or is there an rpg I'm missing out on that needs to be played? BTW I've played through P4G and P3P and loved both of them so anything like those would be awesome, turn based combat, decent story...
