Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | July 2013 | Slow Month, Fast Games

Looks like the The Walking Dead for Vita will release on August 20 if this listing from GS is true.

Looks like a nice deal to me.

Man... if that's bundled with a retail release, then I'm ecstatic. Better not be the only way to get one, though.

personally I think it looks like a rather crappy deal.

still just a 4gb memory card.
and still $250.

it should be launching at $200 with an 8gb memory card to help revive the vita as we come up to the September releases.

Well, they include the entire first season and the new DLC episode as well so that ads up.

But still, I don't expect any discount on the Vita or news about memory cards until Gamescom or later.

Vita definitely helped in clearing my JRPG backlog because of how easy it is to just stop and put it in a save state, then easily power it up and get back to playing in a matter of seconds. Gave me enough of a save anywhere function to be the machine for me

EDIT
Top of page recommendation: Kenka Bancho Badass Rumble is awesome, especially at $3.49.

first season $25
400 days $5
total $30

the bundle is actually a worse deal than the bundles from last holiday as those came with $40 games, that weren't digital only so you could sell them if you didn't like them, or when you were done with them to make the vita as a whole a little cheaper.

I also really didn't expect news of a price drop until gamescom either, but it would be beyond stupid to release a $250 walking dead bundle on august 20th, and then sometime between August 21st to 25th announce an overall price drop for the vita.
heck even though I have a vita and aren't in the market for a second at this time, if they pulled something that stupid I would likely cancel my ps4 preorder just because I wouldn't want to support a company that would screw over their customers like that. (i'd likely still pick up a ps4 down the line after a price drop though :P)

It wouldn't need a pricedrop if every vita came with 8-16gb of internal storage.

even if the vita came with internal storage a price drop is over due. The first price drop usually happens around the 1 year mark for a console, it's been 17 months now.

Welp, first time I hit the 32 gb memory cap on my card after getting some Atlus games. =(

Had to delete something, which was easy to decide and get rid of Golden Abyss since I have no intention of ever playing it again and it took up huge ass space.

Also stupid download bug. Fix this shit, Sony. Twice today. aaarrrrgggghhh

That is a 3G Vita with a game and memory stick for $249. They could announce a price drop of the WiFi version to $199, maybe even bundle it with a 4GB card and the Walking Dead version would still be worth the difference imo.

If anything this actually confirms a price drop for the WiFi Vita.

Guys, which Playstation Mobile games are actually worth buying?

I have Super Crate Box and Cytus Lambda, and I'm probably about to buy Tokyo Jungle. Anything else?

Kass or BlueMaxima could probably answer this really well.

Some must haves are Surge, Rymdkapsel, Haunt the House, Life of Pixel, Passing Time, Feed Me Oil as well as Chiebura.

Aren't they all srpgs or jrpgs? I love both.

Well Kenka Bancho is a beat'em up that takes place in a city with zoned areas, although it does have RPG elements. Same for Knights in the Nightmare which doesn't play like anything at all ever,

For RPGs and SRPGs, I would go for Riveria as that is a really fun and unique game. Lots of events that can be encountered. And I personally will be getting Growlanser and Gungnir because I've heard good things. If you are looking for an RPG that's just easy breezy and doesn't require too much attention than Hexyz Force is a pleasurable experience, almost never frustrating and a good time.

to be honest 3g is so meaningless that I didn't even bother reading to see what model it was because I had assumed sony had just stopped producing the pointless 3g models lol

I suppose given it's the completely and utterly pointless 3g model that no one gives a crap about (heck when the 3g was the same price as the normal model in japan they still couldn't move the 3g model faster than the normal model) it's a slightly better deal then I am giving it credit for, but it doesn't change the fact that the bundle should be $200 and include at least an 8gb card.

at $250 it should include at least an 8gb card and a year of plus... The vita needs a serious boost and bundling the more expensive 3g model that pretty much no one cares about (and your average customer likely doesn't even realize there are two models of the vita) to make a $250 bundle instead of $200 seems silly :/

but you are correct, i overlooked the model and indeed that does likely mean a price drop for the wifi version, but if the bundle is coming aug 20th then the price drop needs to happen before gamescom.

so..
Growlanser
Kenka Bancho Badass Rumble
Crimson
Hexyz Force
Class of Heroes

anymore? that's buying almost everything T_T
I heard class of heroes is pretty bad in comparison to class of heroes 2 though. Maybe you should wait for a sale on that one.

Yeah, anyone who likes Toyko Jungle on PS3 should probably buy Tokyo Jungle Mobile, especially before they raise the price. Only real issue I can see for some is no trophies, and its 2D. If those dont bother you though its an easy buy imo.

Tokyo Jungle Mobile has a big design flaw. Why make the grid so that you can't control it intuitively with the Dpad? Press up to go to the upper left, press right to go to the upper right etc. Just turn the playing field by 45 degrees and everything would be easier. It's not like this gridstyle has any advantage over a normal one. Really annoying when you go into the wrong direction because it is so unintuitive.

Rymdkapsel, Passing Time, Lemmings, Aqua Kitty. If Surge wouldn't have the horrible loading times bug since that PSM SDK update, it would also be a good choice.

Tokyo Jungle Mobile is pretty much Tokyo Jungle! So happy with the game, everyone should buy it (also, it's on sale for $3 this week. Next week it's $6).

How is class of heroes 2 btw. Worth it at the current price?

i'd love to be able to comment, but i have only played it for like 10 minutes. I bought the physical version and got a digital code for it (actually i bought it twice over lol) and have it installed on my vita, but i haven't gotten around to playing it as i have been distracted by rogue like games such as FTL, and rogue legacy.

my wife seemed to be enjoying it, though she complained about the load times.

Bought a ton of shit today. Quick review rundown!

Tokyo Jungle Mobile - Not turn based at all like we assumed. It's awesome. Plays essentially the same as its big brother. $3 is a steal.

Silent Hill: Book of Memories - I've actually never played a Silent Hill game before so I'm not going to compare it (or get upset about it not being like) the other games. Seems fun about 45 mins in. Flashlight mechanic is a neat twist on what's basically a diablo clone. Easily seems worth the $7.50

Lego Batman 2 - I was upset when this came out and wasn't open world. But for $5, it's plenty of fun. The combat is great and quite funny.

Coconut Dodge Revisited - Meh. It's $3. It's a decent time waster, I guess. I didn't like the mini very much and this is essentially that. But... it's $3.

Total Recoil - Not great. Not good, even. It's a twin stick shooter but the bullets are quite slow which is just weird. The humor is awful. Just cringeworthy. But it's $2.50. Like Coconut Dodge - I don't regret it, because of the price. But neither of these games are particularly good.

History Legends of War: Patton - *Sigh* It's good. It's a very good turn based strategy game. But it's a straight port of the PSP version with only the addition of a right stick. The graphics are barely upgraded. There are zero touch controls which is also a huge bummer considering that turn based strategy games actually benefit quite a bit from them. Butttttttttttttttttttt, it's a good game. It's fun. I'm glad I own it and I'll play it a lot. I'm just sick of all these Vita games that we have to make excuses for. This game is good but some pretty simple tweaks could have made it great.

Growlanser Wayfarer of Time - Haven't played it yet but this being on sale means I now own every Atlus digital PSP Jrpg/Srpg. Backlog.... OVERWHELMING

Passing Time, Aqua Kitty, rymdkapsel, rush cat, bullion blitz (if they patch it), surge (if they patch it), penguin party

Change the input method to Option B

How expensive is the AT&T data thing? How much do you get out of it?

Is it worth it to get a 3G vita just in case?

The data plan definitely isn't worth the extra money, but, ironically you can often find the 3G bundles for less than the WiFi one.

Played Total Recoil,

Long story short, Its a 2 dollar time waster. Definitely a mobile game, Die 3 time you have to pay for lives with in game currency, Have to pay to level up your weapons. You can build up alot of cash by playing well though.

Its a Dual Stick Shooter, bullets do move a little slow but the game seems to get more overwhelming if you stick with it...

It has killstreaks and ends with a little boss at every level, Cute.

I'll give it a 2.3/5 ( On my scale, thats good lol)

I'll keep it on my card, I find it fun in spurts. Don't expect too much, its 2 bucks remember

On to Tokyo Jungle!!

Tokyo Jungle....So good......

I never got to play the PS3 version but I heard so much about it...

This needs to be on everyone's Vita, Its a shame it was kept on PS Mobile. It would have dominated as a budget Vita release

This isn't quite Vita software related but rather hardware related (I can't seem to find a general Vita topic here or in the Community forum...), but I recently found a nick right in my Vita's screen and it's driving me bonkers. I don't suppose there's a way to fix it? What's the best screen protector for the Vita?

I'm hoping the sale starts some discussion on Growlanser. I picked it up last time it was on sale and have only just started to play. The ring /skill system is still a little confusing to me and free movement may be a little too "free" for me since I'm used to grids. I know it's well regarded and can see potential for my enjoyment, but any pointers would be appreciated.

Bah, AF100 and Lysander Z just won't drop.
Any EDFers know which Inferno stages I can get them in?

Also, apparently over 9000 stamina is not cutting it for Inferno. >_>
The only later levels I can beat with any sort of consistency are 28, 41 and 47.

The screenshots for Aabs Animals are freaking me out.

The horrible Engrish description that somehow got through SCEA certification is also somewhat off-putting.

So which brave soul is going to waste five dollars on this in order to tell us more about its horrors?

As far as I know it's just a virtual cat on the screen that you can kind of pet or poke or something. That's it. All of the trophies are for just spending a certain amount of time in the game, topping out at a whopping 5 minutes.

Thanks, andylsun! I work near this BB and hit it on the way home. Lots of clearance stuff. I picked up MGS Vita for that price, Rayman Vita for $9.99, and Ghost Recon Future Soldier for my Xbox for $9.99 too!

Cool! Glad someone else benefited from the find! I'm in Colorado for a week with work, so thought I'd take a look and see what this BB had. Picked up gravity rush back home in NH for $5 a few weeks ago, so well worth a lunchtime visit, Oskar Blues for liquids and solids is another side benefit of a work trip to CO.

I've played MGS2 when it first came out. Was working one weekend and got about 6 hours in, but didn't own a console back then so never finished it. I have a PS2 copy of MGS3 but my PS2 isn't plugged in, so portable is the way to go.

Okay, narrowed down my purchases today to Gungnir, Riviera, Growlanser, and Yggdra Union. Contemplating Lego batman vita as well cuz it is freakin 5 bucks. Damn. This is a good week.
