Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | March 2013 | Carving an Independent niche

Did people ended up liking Unit 13 or not?

i rented 12 and was too clueless/lazy to figure it out. i'm considering 13 because it has a new beginner training mode

Thanks for the reply. I've never really played a baseball game besides some cartoony one on iOS. If it's a bit hard to figure out then maybe i'll wait as well.

DoA 5 Plus looking so amazing makes me even more disappointed in Sigma 2 Plus. Why ;-;

Speaking of Ninja Gaiden, my friend refused the copy of Ninja Gaiden Σ2+ that I offered him because he had already bought it digitally. So I may have a GAF giveaway soon if another friend doesn't take it.
Stay tuned, my fellow Ninja-GAF bretheren!

.....but not so disappointing that I wouldn't play it for free :D

I'm gonna go ahead and say those DOA5+ screens are definitely bullshots.

I believe they showed a video of it running on a vita which looked quite good, ie hands on, although this could be a fever dream. Imagine the screenshots are certainly bulled to some degree but I have high expectations given the quality of Dimensions on the 3DS.

Fuck, I thought DOA5+ was March 4th. THE WAIT IS TOO LONG. AHHHH.

I'm gonna go ahead and say those DOA5+ screens are definitely bullshots.

Those in the OP? Yeah. But off-screen "beta/alpha" footage? LOL NO. It'll be a slight downgrade in polygons and possible texture work from the PS3 version but still going at a 60FPS rate, something Hayashit couldn't do with an X-box title (that he could've EASILY ported instead of his port of a port) and his port/fix of a rushed game that was badly optimized this port.

Team DOA *bow bow*.

My new Vita purchasing is stalled since both my 32GB and 4GB memory cards are now full :( Sony release at least a 64GB please? Preferably 128.

that's what I am figuring, I figure if it's done right it will be a lot like MK where it looks good outside of combat but once you hit combat the visuals drop a lot...

I would guess the extra features like the character viewer is full graphics and what not since it would be less demanding.

There's no way even the current Team Ninja could bust up DOA5 as much as Netherrealm did for MK. Even DOA Dimensions on 3DS looks better than MK. Btw, not really knocking MK cause it's a stack of fun and I definitely recommend it!

Seriously, not really bullshots but bullshots in the sense the title won't reach that level of PR-goodness. But the game itself? Looks like it'll be downgraded but still nice looking. (1:58 for fight start)

Hooray, new thread! Great work on the title and OP Noi! :D

My Vita's been getting a lot of love this month with indie titles for cheap, PS+ and the anniversary sale of launch titles I missed. Only problem is i'm holding out for a 32gb pricedrop or 64gb memory card announcement, I'm beginning to have trouble managing it all on my 4gb, and I doubt we're going to see any of the two happen until at least E3 so it's going to be a long wait.

Ok just bought Unit 13 and Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2+. People say Unit 13 is a good shooter, I believe you guys. NGS2+ I bought because I enjoyed the first on Vita, even if this game is a bit more messed up.

Yay, now more people can ignore Technika Tune!

T_T

We should probably start the score challenge thing that people talked about in the OT last week.

I'll buy the next DJMax
Portable

Really wish they'd release a US Soul Sacrifice demo for Month with Monster Hunter coming out.

I distinctly remember reading that the dev said it was cancelled.
I hope it is coming out in Europe but there has been 0 talk of the game for months.

I think you read right and I read wrong. Not that i was really looking forward to it, though I do like some of their Ancients wargames.

Welp I caved for both games :)

Holy crap, System 3's Putty Squad remake for the Vita lives! http://www.system3.com/index.jsp?i=1096&s=1111

This was supposed to be a LAUNCH TITLE. Retailers in the UK and Australia even had mock pre-order boxes for it leading up to the Vita's launch.

- Demo coming soon (?)
- Uses the Vita' GPS to collect in-game stickers
- Look around levels with the touch screen
- DLC planned
- Online leaderboards

Not sure if System 3's still planning a physical retail release anymore, it's probably just PSN at this point.

Haha, I figured for sure that game was cancelled a long time ago. Cool.

I should probably cross post this:

US PS+ March clues: Big critically acclaimed shooter, highly acclaimed strategy RPG on Vita, fighter for IGC, PSN game w/ highly acc. writer

What do you guys think it is? New little kings story?

Disgaea 3 seems likely unless it's a PSP game like Valkyria Chronicles 2.
"Critically acclaimed shooter" sounds like Resistance or Call of Duty, though I suppose it could be Unit 13; but they've been giving a lot of discounts on Unit 13, so that seems kind of unlikely.
Fighter? They'll give us DOA5 for PS3, like EU just got or is getting, I'd wager. Especially with DOA5+ coming to Vita.

I really want that Pro Spirits Baseball game. Might have to do my first import in a few years.

Also remembered I have a Patton's War I got for review on PSN a while back. Will have to find room as it was a quite a fun game for what it was.

Should be a cheap month for me overall though, as I need to finish P4G and a couple of other games in my backlog.

Putty Squad is being co-developed by a studio literally down the road from me. Not sure if they're handling the Vita port or the iOS/Android one or something, though.

Also, so... Legend of War is actually happening? I've heard next to nothing about that game.

Silly me, never really thought about that :P But I'm guessing shipping could be quite pricey depending on the location of the seller.

Persona 4 was my biggest mind-boggle in that regard!
The one I linked has free world wide shipping from Hong Kong, but that might be a few weeks. Although I think you might be hit with a Vat Tax for importing, 20% of the value, or something?

Oh wow yeah, look at that! I haven't imported anything in a loooong while though, so I'm not too sure about that. If anyone with more expertise on the subject would like to chip in, that'd be great! :)

I usually ask the seller to mark down the value on the package, that way customs usually let games slip through.

If a game is confirmed to come over, I usually wait it out. I want my collection to be consistent with the same region games. Yeah, it's kinda weird I know

I'd see what you mean..if you were talking about importing EU releases with those big colorful age ratings :) More a fan of the B/W ESRB/CERO ratings myself.

Those with OCD might want to avoid Asian/HK releases though. They have similar colored age ratings, but all of the recent releases I've seen have 'Official Playstation' and barcode stickers placed over it. I'm still not very sure why, but it's a welcome change for me..
(Except the Official Playstation sticker on my copy of Monster Monpiece has a tiny bit of transparency where red is leaking through, blech!)

That sounds like a good idea, thanks!

Man, I know exactly what you mean. But my collection has been mostly digital on the Vita, so I guess I've been pretty safe from that, heh...
