Volition to reveal new game/gameplay this Friday at PAX

Yes. I wasn't talking technically, just in general.
I never noticed any problems with it myself.
Look, all I'm saying is that their next game should be somewhere in between SR2 and 3, story, writing, and character wise.

That's fine. I just think the self-awareness the recent Saints Row games have going on makes them more appealing than, say, a game where you spray poop from the poop truck and boy is poop funny.

For real, if they're really making a new Saints Row game, then I hope it's some kind of stupid adventure that takes place after SR4, with all the implications of that.

Hopefully something that showcases a new iteration of their destructibility tech from RFG, but I'm not holding my breath.

Sr3&4 were great so I'm excited to see what they are working on, even if it is sr5!

This. It also has the best writing in the entire series.
And the best characters.
And the best story.
And the best cheats.
SR2 was the best Saints Row, TBH.
The others might have had better graphics and controls though.
SR2>SR3>>>SR4>>>>>>>>>>>>>SR1
Agreed... I wish SR2 servers where still up

I want it to be Summoner 3 as well. I've not played 1, which was probably most people's favorite, but 2 was a fun and original action RPG

I'm not a fan of Summoner 1 either. The second game, however, is probably one of my favourite of all time. It's an amazing action-RPG and I really hoped there would be a follow-up in a similar vein.

They should make Saints Row 6, be arrogant as fuck and skip a whole numbered installment.
lol they could say stuff like i cant believe that thing we did worked! Sure things are sharper, smoother, and 60fps. But at least everything is back to normal.

Just start it right at the "end" of Saints Row V and then it goes into the sixth game, constantly referring to obtuse backstory from V that you have no clue about. It'd be grand.

If this is like the first two games then I'm buying it day one. If it's yet another game just like SR3, well... I guess I just won't support SR anymore.

a tongue-in-cheek reboot of Saints Row 1 would be a great way to bring back Stilwater and series favorites while still maintaining the humor they've developed.

I just hope it's next-gen, though. The last thing we need is yet another SR game hindered by current-gen tech.

So you want a worse game that also performs like shit? I guess you'll always have the first two.

The only shit performance was a) in the rain on consoles and b) on SR2 PC. I managed to look past that because they were fantastic games that were far more entertaining than the shit we call their "sequels".

EDIT: I'm still holding out hope that SR5 has the character wake up from the coma they went into at the end of SR1, having the events of all of the other games just being a dream while also being an excuse for the world being back to normal (and a return to Stilwater please, Steelport was tiny and bland as fuck)

No he wants a good game that isn't constantly going "lol so random", has a compelling story, better customization, a game world that's not bland as fuck, activities that don't masquerade as story missions. Y'know, not Saints Row 3 and 4.

That by itself doesn't preclude a Red Faction title, though, as Nordic has no development studios of its own.

True, but why would Deep Silver farm out their premier development studio to make a game for an IP owned by a different publisher? Particularly when they're obviously keen to (quite sensibly) build up their own stable of IPs.

Saints Row 5. Saints in Time. It's coming, and they're going to pull some Doctor Who/Days of Future Past alternate timeline junk in order to reboot the series. Watch and see.

Honestly, I liked SR2's style/flow more. The poop jokes and shit got a bit old, granted, but it was fun to be a sociopath that wasn't being pushed as apologetic like Niko.

Crazy for the sake of crazy can only support itself for so long, and in the transition to Steelport in SR3, Volition definitely felt like it lost a bit of the nuance that made SR2 so amazing for me.

Loss of/dumbing down side activities, loss of customization options, collection options, Story (neutering the boss)...Steelport felt less like a world, it felt artificially designed. Stillwater (in SR2, at least, obv. SR1 was rougher) definitely felt more organic.

SR4 was better, because superpowers make everything better, but the slicked-up presentation often didn't actually run any better.

Kinda this, honestly.

Basically, Saints Row 1 and 2 were fantastic games in a shit game engine, 3 and 4 were god-awful games running in a much better engine. If they remade the first two games in the newer engine I'd be so happy. Either way with the amount of praise the shit ones got, it's not looking likely that the next one (if there is a next one) will be good, which is rather sad.

Sure, Deep Silver's own plans for Volition in all likelihood would certainly prove to be a roadblock. That's why I was sure to say:

[Nordic owning the IP] by itself doesn't preclude a Red Faction title, though, as Nordic has no development studios of its own.

Agreed. SR3+ was Michael Bayed far, far too much. Didn't need it at all.

Awesome news. Easily one of the best devs out there, that I would kill to work for.

If it's more saints row, I hope they bring it back down to earth. The over the top craziness was fun, but the series needs to go back to what it was in 2/early parts of 3.

A new IP would be great. Anything these guys do and I'll be there.

If they made a satire of reboots that'd be all well and good but the person I was responding to suggested a straight and serious reboot (I think). The original Saints Row is a terrible game and it's still kind of shocking it got a sequel at all.

This.

The first game was garbage and the only reason anyone played it is GTA4 was miles off.
