Volition to reveal new game/gameplay this Friday at PAX

I want a new saints row.

Then I realise it will most likely be more like Saints row 3/4, which makes me sad and kinda hope it isn't a new saints row game.

1 and 2 > rest by a large distance.

If they show up with a new SR with gameplay footage of Protect The Pimp im will throw my entire wallet at my computer screen.

Wont happen though.

I'm worried about Saints Row honestly...The publisher that now owns the IP, Deep Silver, is another EA, where they destroy everything they touch.

Those fears aside, I hope they go back to the roots of Saints Row a little more with the next installment. SR4 was way too wacky and felt like an expansion pack to me. I want more retro thug comedy and gang warfare type stuff set in a modern-type city.

Deep Silver didn't drop the big chunk of change that they did for on both Volition & the SR IP for them to make a non Saint's Row game.

So it's Saint's Row 5

or Dead Island x Saint's Row, cause Deep Silver wants to run that IP into the dirt.

Please be something that uses Geo-mod.

It's Freespace 3! Right, guys? ...Guys?

Interplay still own Freespace IP.

but Volition can still make a spiritual successor with a new name and gameplay (same case for IPs they don't own anymore like Summoner and Red Faction)

Didn't they make them turn the expansion pack into Saints Row 4 or was that THQ?

That was Jason Rubin(THQ) decision

"When I looked at the Enter The Dominatrix expansion in production at Volition, I was blown away by the ideas and desire to expand the fiction of the franchise," THQ president Jason Rubin told Edge. "I asked the team what it could achieve given more time, more resources, and a broader scope for the project. We all agreed that we wanted to play that game."

as for SR series it really need to return to it's roots and be more like SR2.

Listening to Kieszas cover of What is Love got me to start dicking around in sriv again and finally play the dlc missions

I hope its a new saints row, i just really dig the characters and vibe of 3/4. Cant believe people thought it got too wacky, heaven forbid a game be unabashedly goofy.

I REALLY hope this is Saints 5, and I REALLY hope that Volition tones down the silliness like we saw in the last two games (especially SR4) and makes it more of a mix like SR2.

SR2 is by far the best in the series. They ruined the series when they went crazy for the sake of crazy in SR3.

I hope they reboot the SR seies. It's kinda got too ridiculous for its own good.

Please Volition listen to the voices of reason

I would love Saints Row V (crazy balls game still, not SR2 crap serious story) but I wouldnt mind a new game from them.

They should make Saints Row 6, be arrogant as fuck and skip a whole numbered installment.

That idea is amazing. market the game all around it and make jokes about it in the game, just like Leisure Suit Larry did.

Yeah, lets make a GTA clone again that sells a third of our crazy installments that try to get as far from GTA and be original as possible. That makes totally sense.

Thank god they are not stupid. If its a reboot, they are going to make fun of reboots. You are nver going to get what you want, and thank god for that. You can all go a play GTA while I have fun doing crazy shit and watching a crazy out of this world story.

FUNKING THIS! Take the hint from Star Citizen and Elite, Volition, give us another Freespace!

Unfortunately the corpse of Interplay is hanging onto that license in its rigor mortis. Of course they could just skip the Freespace branding and set up a new series instead.

You missed the part where the game, purposefully TRYING to not be GTA, got incredibly shit and hollow in the process. I don't give a shit if it was a GTA clone, it was a fantastic one, and now it's a shit game that I have no interest in whatsoever. I hate the shit out of the "LOL RANDUMB" humour.

The thing is, you are in the minority.
The game sells better and is liked by a majority much more when it goes the opposite direction of GTA "realism".

Also you say is random humour, I say its funny good parody one.

Im out of this conversation, its only going to go in circles, like in all saints row neogaf threads. We all know the ending, one type of game sells much better than the other.

I don't really care what the tone is like as long as the city is fun to play in. People bitched about the games' tone and Johnny Gat being dead until the cows came home, but SR3's and 4's biggest problems were with the lackluster city. I played and enjoyed those games for the story missions, but I STILL come back to SR2 time and time again to mess around in Stilwater.

And I'm on the PC, so I have to worry about the game collapsing into itself at any moment, even with mods installed.

Lol.

I'll admit that they tightened up several loose aspects of SR2 in 3, and the addition of superpowers kept things fresh in 4. But honestly, to me, the latter 2 games are mostly style, and lack of substance. If you keep upping the 'wow'/ludicrousness factor, eventually, you're going to end up jumping the shark.

Also, I had fun fucking around in the open world in 2. 3 was boring as all get out, and orb hunting was fun in 4, but the transition of 'brutes' with bullet sponge properties really broke up the flow of the combat aspect

Volition will proceed as it will, of course. But I'm pretty sure I remember quotes from them saying that the current series' style of SR (or at least the Boss' story) was done with 4.

I want a remake of the first Red Faction. That mood with glorious HD graphics would be insane.

I know I'm not getting FreeSpace 3, so at least don't be SR V. Let's hit middle ground here Volition.
