Spent $280 for a base plain Jane PS5 off Facebook marketplace

Runs well and it works

Will it outperform my Steam Deck and also why do I feel wrong? It's not a pro which is what I want. But at this price. It's hard not to cave right?

Someone tell me my decision was a good one

Of course it will outperform your deck. And how would a disc PS5 for $280 be a bad decision? That's a great price.

Also not sure why you're craving a pro if you were content to play on the PS4 tier Steamdeck before. This will tide you over until next gen with the PS6.

We didn't really need to see a photo of a PS5

You made a valid point here. I'm content with 30 fps at PS4 quality. But look, wanted a PS5 Pro for GTA 6. Which is still gonna happen.

So why did I cave now for a base PS5? We all need to know why. I need To know why
 
Ok. I'm happy to join "current gen" consoles for $280 and happy to see what is up with it.

Console works fantastic like a charm and no issues after testing it for a while. Downloading my back catalog now
 
No shit it's nice to jump in with a nice back catalog of games

Also for the price point. No way I could deny it. I'll get the pro. I will sell this and pay the difference come GTA6 time.

To me you got your dollars worth, if it was brand new then yeah it's a different discussion.

It wasn't "brand new" I do not reckon. But it's scuff free. Works flawless. Looks new. Dude took care of it basically

Had a super high 4.8 Facebook rating on marketplace. Lived near me. Had to buy it

Yep, and you got the slim. You got a great deal, don't sweat it. I think there's always a tinge of "maybe" when you buy used
 
it all depends your main purpose of buying the ps5/ps5 pro and your financial

Its a good deal but you should have waited, you seem a prime candidate for team Xbox, you may be getting an invite with a starter pack of a Series S and a weekend at an Xbox freak off.

if you plan to jump and main console, i would say ps5 pro personally , however i am biased because i own a ps5 and a ps5 pro.

There is no guarantee gta6 is going to run different on the PRO. Since the ps5 is half the price of the ps5 pro, i would say it worth it if this ps5 you bought really run flawlessly and has no issue.

But if you can afford a ps5 pro and has no financial issue here, go ahead/.

This "slim" PS5 runs like a dream and I'm pretty excited on it. Due to how brand new it looks and runs.

Will I use It for GTA6? No. I'll sell and buy a pro. But couldn't be happier for my $280 with what I've got.
 
Pretty good price for a standard PS5. I've seen some value out of the Pro but it's not a console I'd recommend simply because I don't feel that it's a big enough difference for me personally. You'll do fine with a PS5 and yes, it's way more powerful than Steam Deck. You can also use your Steam Deck to stream PS5 games directly from your PS5 using Chiaki4Deck on the Discovery store.
 
I've got a giant back catalog on PSN. For now I'm happy just playing them and seeing how they run. 🏃‍♂️

Dual sense. I've never played with. Till now. It's comfy. I'll see how it goes long term
 
I thought the question about outperforming Steam Deck was a joke and my desire to have faith in humanity is still telling me it was despite the follow ups.

I'd rather have a bog standard PS5 with a disk drive than a new slim without one for the same price. But at least you can bolt one on later. You can use that disk drive when you get your Pro if you go that route. Just don't lose the faceplate.

You got a pretty good deal. If the Pro fomo is too great, you can trade it in at GameStop for more than you spent. I traded in my Slim for a pro 3 days ago and the upgrade cost me $350 after taxes. I really didn't need a pro now but the raising cost of consoles coupled with the $50 off sale going on now I figured now is a good time.

Dude, calm down. In my money you paid £208 for a PS5. That's a very good price. I don't know why you're so bothered about the Pro, there's barely a noticeable difference. IMO the PS5 is a fantastic console. Sure, it might be lacking in games unlike previous generations, but it has some bangers and you can play PS4 stuff on it too. Stop comparing it to everything else. You got a good deal. Just chill.

U bought it on the cheap so if u arent happy with perfomance/want to play gta6 in over a year on the pr0(it will get delayed to fall 2026 4sure) u can always sell it and buy pr0 w/o any cash lost.
