Man Sony just keeps on winning because everyone else fails and cheer luck...for 30 years. They literally never do things right! It's almost like they don't have all games releasing on their platform and their studios keep making games people like - Helldivers 2, Astrobot, Ghost of Yotei, next year with Wolverine, the Marvel fighting game, GTAVI basically a console exclusive, etc...

Sony wins because they do what matters right: The games. Marketing rights with all biggest IPs (GTA, Fortnite, Genshin, EA Sports and UEFA publicity everywhere, Battlefield, COD), they pay for timed exclusive games that sell to their core market (SH2, FFVII Rebirth etc), they pay for new IPs to be made even if they endup on other platforms (Stellar Blade, Rise of the Ronin etc), their subscriptions have been pumping some nice offers (i mean...if you subscribe to PS Plus Extra you get games like SH2, Alan Wake 2, Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts Legacy and all their library from the PS4 and some from the PS5 just like that). The only thing missing is Nintendo games...actually now that's literally it lmao.

PlayStation has been failing upwards since the PS1. But I mean that in a joke way, because your post 100% sums up the arguments I've heard a lot since PS1 as to the only reason PlayStation is successful. Wonder what the excuse for the PS6 will be, but Sony does need a humbling generation again in my opinion like the start of the PS3 gen was.

Sony need to actively work against themselves in order to start loosing. PS5 is their most profitable console generation (it's at least what they've claimed) and they're doing the bare minimum of first-party game supply and marketing. They're dominating their part of the market, and the other parts of the market are either already heavily contested or dominated by other entities. I don't see Sony being able to take on Nintendo or Valve/Steam in their respective parts of the market. So their best bet is to expand into other forms of entertainment and looking into maximizing profit of their Playstation ecosystem, and they are already doing both things.

So no, they are not losing anything. They are in a pretty comfortable position, imho. PS6 can be an even lower effort than PS5 and it will fucking sell.

MS having anything isnt proof of success, you can just look at their history in the gaming space, how many trends they hopped on and failed at and how many times they changed their policies only to fail…Meanwhile Sony has won every generation bar arguably the PS3 gen…And has record profits this gen. With the potential for a handheld next gen and a traditional console, pretty sure they'll be alright…Whats funny though is the people thinking a Xbox pc being able to curcumvent the whole Playstation/PC exclusive thing, nobody is buying a £1500 Xbox to play decade old PS games anyway and even if they do they wont be supported and likely hardware locked.
