K-Mart goes out of business -> Wal-Mart buys the buildings -> Wal-Mart sometimes retrofits them into Wal-Marts

No, these are old, empty Wal-Mart buildings. There are two on the same road in my town. Wal-Mart is like a snake, just slithering around the town and leaving its skin behind every so often.
