WandaVision |OT| Wanda's Mental Multiverse Breakdown

It was ok.
I don't know how I feel about Agatha being handled that way. She was a boss in the comics and saved the day in house of M.

The comment about Dr. Strange seemed dumb too but his powers fluctuate so much it can be excused. I'm getting Phoenix like level of power coming off her right now which is kind of accurate but has serious creep issues involved. She is one of the more interesting characters now though that is for sure.

The vision stuff is neat though.

Monica sucks. They ruined Darcy too, she isn't a super genius and that was good about her.

I'm guess mephisto of dormonu is the source of the corruption.

why use him though? Like what was the point? Also they should have gotten out waaay ahead of time to set expectations. Not reveal who he is, but say hey, what you think is happening is not.

You should have set your own expectations, the show and story itself had absolutely no hints or anything to do with the multiverse.

Darkhold is yet more evidence that Marvel TV has never been canon to the MCU main timeline. Completely different version. Maybe AoS and Runaway fans can come to terms and finally accept it.

I will not be happy until Jessica Jones is officially canonized

Just binged this for the last few days. After taking their time and masterfully building the story slowly for the first seven episodes the ending felt a bit rushed.

Agnes came off like a Disney princess villain. Also it's kind of hilarious to see Wanda apologise so profusely to Monica Rambeau with the town of people she completely screwed over behind her. Lol

Ehh the whole thing was to tell us that she’s the scarlet witch? Lol. I’m sorry but I’ve watched every episode waiting for a big pay off that never came.
Jimmy woo was the best character of the show lol

oh and all those cryptic commercials didn’t mean a god damn thing!

very disappointed

No, it was all about Wanda dealing with her grief.

I enjoyed the show overall but felt disappointed by that ending. All these weeks of speculation for nothing really special to happen in the end. Wanda and vision seen at the end was good though.

I hope so but it seemed like they doubled down on her resting bitch face in endgame.

Don't forget Endgame was filmed before Captain Marvel.

I'm really happy with the ending of WandaVision. The CGI and action were all on point and great. The reveal of the Scarlet Witch suite was bloody amazing. I teared up at a certain scene.

Yeah, having more screen time for Monica, Jimmy and Darcey is desirable but the show doesn't lost points based on that. I know that these characters will show up again.

Very excited to see what happens with Monica. First credits scene shows that she'll meet Fury in space. Sidenote, I hope we see Abigail Brand there too. I'd imagine Captain Marvel 2 comes out before Secret Invasion so curious to see how they are linked.

Disagree. I think the last two hours are a top tier MCU movie

Id argue the only reason parts of those episodes are so strong is because of the build up of the characters in the first 7. I agree the payoff is great and the good far outweighed the bad.
But the majority of that was about Wanda, Vision and their family. Agnes was an excuse to go through Wandas's past and fill a traditional villian roll. But her scenes were jarringly bad to me. The you have Wanda ignoring the townspeople and focusing on the only other hero on the screen. So after showing us how tortured these people were, she sulks away like she farted in public. It just didn't sit well with me.

They literally had the Madripoor flag on set.

We'll see. Unless it's THR, Deadling, Variety, etc I ain't buying it. But hey, it will be fun if it turns out to be true.

Randall Park forgot he played Asian Jim on the Office.:messenger_tears_of_joy:
Several years later, I'm like walking down the street and this car drives by and a guy yells, 'Asian Jim!' And drives off. And I'm thinking, 'Is this some racist thing that I don't know about?' I thought it was a hate crime because I had forgotten about my appearance on The Office. People would be walking up to me and saying, 'What's up, Asian Jim?' And I'd be like, 'F**k you!"

“The whole point of Iron Man was that he’s Iron Man?”

I’m not sure what more you could have wanted from this show, it was a mysterious set up then managed to give time to a character that wasn’t fleshed out, give us an origin story when we weren’t expecting it, reconcile Wanda and the true Scarlet Witch in an interesting way, as well as the usual setting up what comes next from the Agnes warnings/SW with full power and Darkhold access, Rambeau with Sword/Fury, and Vision res.

I don’t think that’s too bad for 9 episodes and Marvel’s first fully integrated MCU series.

Not watched it but been reading all the comments. Show didn't seem for me.

One question though for those who have;

Is White Vision real now and cannon?

Finale was ok. Not great not terrible.

- I like how Wanda still ends up being the bad guy in all this. Makes her more of a morally grey character which would have been ruined if she was being tricked or controlled.
Overall I like what the show did for her. Turned her into one of the better and more interesting MCU characters moving forward.

-The VFX and fight were pretty nice for a TV show. Not movie tier but it's still impressive how far we've come.

-There was a weird ass line where Monica was like "Wanda they don't know what you sacrificed for them". Which is like oh look at those ungrateful people you were just holding hostage and torturing!!

-Its a bit disappointing that White Vision got "fixed" in a single episode.

-The Pietro thing felt cheap as hell. Had everyone speculating and in the end it's just a dude?. And the end of that entire subplot is a dick joke?

-It has been 13 years and we are still stuck with the "good guy fights bad guy with same powers" trope. 2X this episode

The Evan Peters casting was just Marvel fucking with the audience the same way Agatha was fucking with Wanda in the show. It's not their fault that people believed what they wanted to hear on Reddit and clickbait websites. I said so back when he was revealed:
All the sites who wrote definitive clickbait stories about the end of this episode will look pretty dumb if the next four hours of the show reveal it's not who they declared him to be in their clickbait.

There's a very good reason why he could never have been Fox's Quicksilver, but people would rather listen to anonymous people on Reddit telling them what they WANT to hear rather than the reality of how comic book movies work in Hollywood. If Disney decided to use a version of Quicksilver created (and cast) by Bryan Singer and Simon Kinberg, then those two would need to have at least Executive Producer credits on anything that version of Quicksilver appeared in and along with that comes money, and that's not even bringing in the ramifications of acknowledging Fox's fucked up X-Men continuity messing with the carefully crafted and controlled MCU.

This was great and I really liked the final too. I didn't care much about Vision before but he was great in this. Paul Bettany is the best part of the show.

I was hoping for a bigger reveal at the end. They might be saving that kind of thing for the movies.

This is meant to lead into DS2 (and most people believe Raimi directed that second credits scene), so those people who cry about the MCU all being connected are obviously mad that the story continues in a movie.

On a side note, I'm stoked for Raimi being the director for Doctor Strange 2. Love that guy and his style. Spiderman 3 was shit but it's clear that it wasn't the movie he wanted to make.

When people say they were hoping for a bigger reveal, do they just mean Mephisto or Nightmare? I think it works better that Wanda herself caused everything.

Agreed about it being much better with Wanda as the cause. The show is about her grief and her working through it. Having some grand reveal that actually Mephisto or whoever was behind everything is less meaningful.

Gotta admit, the positivity in this thread makes me feel better after being somewhat disappointed by the finale.

I think my expectations are out of whack sometimes, but I did enjoy the cryptic aspects of the show early on and expected a more interesting payoff. Things fell into place very quickly and neatly and for some reason that bothered me just a little bit.

I blame the internet.

Fans wanted Reed Richards, Mephisto, and all this other stuff and got mad...

Meanwhile, I had fun and enjoyed seeing Hex Vision battling Wision... Maximoff finally becoming The Scarlet Witch... Monica coming into her powers... Seeing the twins becoming heroes... seeing if Agatha was good or not... And how it would all wrap up and maximoff finally accepting her sorrow.

To be fair, the show was doing something angular for 8 episodes (or at least as angular as you can get from the Marvel assembly line) and then 9 all of a sudden comes with unchoreographed Wanda V. Agnes "spectacle" that makes Attack Of The Clones look state of the art, of course people are gonna wake up and be "Wait, this is just another Marvel thing in a long line of Marvel things."

Now in terms of fans who wanted some romp with a million character cameos, fuck 'em. These types of complaints are literally the main thing dragging big media franchises like this down.

I liked it and didn’t read a bunch of Reddit stuff to get let down over.

The quicksilver thing was brilliant with how fast everyone jumped on it like Wanda did. kathryn hahn was a great surprise too.

It looked like someone cut out their body profiles and threw them at each other in After Effects like they were playing with action figures.

At least the Vision fight had finesse.
Considering they don’t fight fist to fist cause they’re witches, that’s not their thing...

You do realise the air fight between Wanda and Agnes wasn't actually a fight yeah? Wanda wasn't trying to hurt or kill Agnes. She was tricking her, biding her time while she set up her runes on the barrier. Hitting Agnes every now and then with a bolt of magic so she wouldn't catch on to the runes that were being placed. Hoping she'd get the runes set up before her own life force was completely sucked dry.

That's why the Vision fight had choreography and finesse, because it was an actual fight.
Wanda vs Agnes was not a fight.

It was okay I suppose.

It’s kinda fun to think how things would have turned out if Agnes wasn’t around. I don’t know if any kind of redemption would have been possible.

Also Agnes didn’t seem all that evil to me? Like not really compared to a lot of other MCU characters with far higher body counts and general mustache twirling evil.

Even if it's not a full on fight, there should still be a language or kinetics in their movements though.

The lack of motion-blur and flat lighting mismatching the backdrop of storm clouds doesn't help either.

That's not about choreography.

But I get what you mean in regards to the effects, it's not the best.
