From beginning to end, the biggest fucking problem with Obama was his overly optimistic "deep down everybody is a good, decent person who will make the right decision eventually" bullshit philosophy. Spent way too much time and effort trying to get the approval and respect of straight up evil people. Congratulations, you got David Brooks to respect you, but the "moderate reasonable conservative" archetype he represents doesn't actually exist and holds no power. Honestly this is very black and white. Either he discussed sanctions and the RECORDED AUDIO verifies this/he goes to prison, or he did not. I find it suspicious that this phone conversation is sitting around somewhere and they still don't know for sure.

Absolutely nothing is going to happen. The only shot at taking down Trump is to beat him in the election in four years.
FBI already said they're not recommending charges and nothing to see here. I have less than zero faith in any single fucking institution in this country. It's all fucked. If democrats ever get control of the whole government again, I will settle for nothing less than scorched earth and salting the ground of the treasonous Republican party.
I believe all of the Trump/Russia stuff is true and pretty obvious, but I don't think there is a smoking gun of irrefutable, physical evidence at this point. And the longer this drags on, the more likely any evidence that did exist gets buried.
And I'll say it again, even if there was a smoking gun and it leaked (I'm talking undeniable paper trail of money changing hands and the tapes all leaking), I do not believe a goddamn thing will happen to him. Literally the only way to bring down a president is in congress, and the GOP will not impeach him under any circumstances. I am not even using hyperbole, I genuinely believe that they would still support him even if there was video evidence of him raping a child. They are a power hungry collection of idiots and pure evil fucks. Majority of Trump's supporters will never turn on him. And as long as they support him, so will the GOP.

It's fascinating, and terrifying, how different FBI sources appears to be giving conflicting information to different journalists and outlets.
That's about the Logan act. Lying to the FBI is itself a crime, though.

No kidding. He appointed Comey in 2013, long past the point when he should have known that the Republicans wouldn't soften on him no matter what he did. The way he defended Comey after the email shit is absolutely inexcusable.
I can't tell if his philosophy is to have faith in people doing the right thing, or if it's to look like he's "playing fair" as much as possible so he can keep his conscience clean while saying he did everything he could.
Its always the same excuse. In 2010 General Mattis was leading an investigation into Flynn for sharing classified information with Foreign Military Officials. It ended the same way. He wa snot punished because he "unknowingly did it"

It's clear at this point that the FBI is compromised. This leak shows them running interference for Flynn, and this in a long line of bad actions over the last year.
This really hurts. They have the power to interview, to search, to root out evidence, whereas the IC can only collate information domestically. We see it here. They interviewed Flynn and now have him on record for a felony with hard evidence. They could set fire to his ass; I doubt he wants to spend several years in jail. He'd likely flip and the investigation could roll on. Instead, they shut it down.
With the Republicans refusing to live up to their responsibility to do a credible independent investigation into this, and the DoJ being run by someone who is a collaborator if any of this is true, it leaves only one avenue for investigation: The Press, being drip-fed leaks by patriotic members of the IC.
Maybe that will be enough. They've done it once before.

Im really surprised that Fox reported that, posted it on twitter, and hasnt taken it down yet.
Surprising for Fox of all places to report this. I hope Trump sees this and adds them to his "fake news" whining tomorrow.
