Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War 2 |OT| FOR THE EMPEROR!!

around 15 missions iirc

finished and the SP is much much better than the one in DoW2
I loved the mission where you
have to rescue the techmarine and a big groups of orks and chaos descend down on you, shit blowing up on all sides, realy felt just epic, your small band of SMs holding off wave after wave

the one with having to get through to the captain of the honor guard was also interesting, had to actualy use stealth and avoid patrols, will try an "evil" game the next time and just murder them :D

althrough they still fucked up the last boss fight, he should be more like certain wow bosses that require strategy and the use of the enviourment to bring down (Eliphas was kinda like that, with you having to destroy those pilars that were healing him, you could down him without retreating, if you played smart, unlike the final boss), not just giving him a lot of HP and dmg so that you have to retreat every min to heal up

yeah like some reviews said, probably best SP in an "rts" game since WC3

I love the corruption system.
I think I read in this thread, someone said they were more like "incompetency" points :lol

While this is true, and I'm sure the game designers didn't intend it this way, but it makes perfect sense. No Space Marine would, by his own volition, turn to chaos. Chaos only sets in when he is not strong enough to resist it. It's not supposed to be a choice most of hte time.

Although, some of the reasons for corruption (you didn't save the random group of scouts, oh no!) don't make sense.

I got Radeon 5770 yesterday, put it in this morning, and now I can game with high setting.

I start a new game without the transfer, all the character points were already assign is that normal? I thought if you start without transfer you get to assign all the points. While the starter gears kinda blow, you seems to get a lot more loots.
You should be able to reassign the points after beating the 1st mission I think.

I just finish it on Recruit and it was shorter than I though, there weren't many side missions, but it could be because I port over my char and level up so fast. I really didn't have time to get corrupt (though those gears were tempting). I was expecting more side missions it seems the game really dole out exp. points.

I will run the game through on harder difficulty and then Primach... I am sure at Primach I will be temp to the Dark side.

I love the CHaos Rising Campaign.
My DoW Campaign Ranking:
1. Chaos Rising
2. Dawn Of War 1
3. Winter Assault
4. Dawn Of War 2
5. Dark Crusade
6. Soulstorm.

I'm playing now the
"stealth mission" on Calderis.
I like the new background information about the Blood Ravens. Now i'm a bit disappointed, that we play in the Space Marine Game the Ultramarines Chapter and not Relics Blood Ravens.

btw. sorry for my english :/

I like where you place the DoW1 campaign, if everyone else's comments hadn't already sold me on the expansion, that ordering definitely would have.

Just finished the game; really enjoyed it though I never even messed with any of the Chaos stuff.

My traitor was Martellus; not sure if that's normal. I forgot who that dude even was but then again I don't pay much attention to the story.

On the last boss fight are your allies supposed to help you? They got stuck going back and forth between two points so I just ditched them before heading to the upper part of the map.

I think they are. The experiences are completely different than Dawn of War 2.

Look into Dawn of War Platinum Edition. Soul Storm is more of a multi product.

Oh I bought them long ago on a steam deal (probably when DoW2 came out) and played through a few missions but never stuck with it. If the story is good I will give it another go though when releases settle down.

Nice impressions Enosh, I may have to get this for the SP campaign. I already know I won't have time for MP.

I really enjoyed the risk-esque strategery of Dark Crusade. Never played soul storm though.

So the DoW 1 + ex pack are worth going back and playing for the story?

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks the original DoW campaign is better than DoW 2's original campaign. I haven't played Chaos Rising, but it is my favorite campaign of all the DoW RTS titles so far.

And bishoptl worked on the game too, so you have to play it!

Good ranking. The last mission in WA was a serious task though. I quit and came back later. I still need to beat the Disorder side, or whatever t was called.

I had no idea.

So finished Chaos Rising. Nice Cliff-hanger at the End
Cannot wait for the next expansion. I hope we'll get the Imperial Guards as a new faction.

So, many people prefer the DoW2 Campaign? I think the most of them didnt play DoW and WA. i love the cutscene in DoW1, WA and Chaos Rising.

Does Chaos Rising have two endings? Or does it not matter if you turn to Chaos or stay uncorrupted?

Oh no way. I want to see Necrons in the next expansion.

ARGH! - just killed the super lame final boss and the game crashes to desktop - can't wait to spend far too long fighting him again. Campaign was great till him, final mission was awesome, but then no, they have to go and ruin it with a shitty boss.

My Dawn of War 2 save was on an older hard drive that got wiped. Is it worth playing through it again in order to import to the expansion, or does that not really matter ultimately?

If anything they should add Tau, then they can mess with Necrons or Imperial Guard.

My offer from above still stands btw.

The campaign is great. Missions are more dynamic and more varied, and definitely a good challenge on Primarch co-op. We've played for about 8 hrs now. The new character skills are pretty cool (the tomes, the specialist bolter ammo, energy-based accessories), and the new items are good fun as well, especially the weapons (bunch of new ones, or new abilities related to them - grenade launchers, frag missiles for rocket launchers, melta guns, dreadnought multi-melta, lascannons); good stuff!

Yeah, been playing the campaign for a couple of hours now - it's really great but I really hope they give us a campaign with a different faction for the next expansion. The whole "You are this guy!" approach does nothing for me and while new weapons and traits is good and all that it really is kind of boring to play with the same guys yet again (discounting the Librarian because he's not fun to play imo).

Just finished it yesterday and
the end daemon fight
was so tough. I had to keep chaining back to the nearest supply point and abusing my chaos abilites to win that one.

Full corruption ending spoiler
can't believe you die at the end - was a nice surprise though - hammer to the face!

Great game though and reignited my joy for Dow - might go back and do DoW1 again and clean off the optional missions in DoW2 vanilla.

So I just tried the last mission, which will take ridiculous amounts of time on higher difficulty settings. Since I have better things to do with my gaming time - are there cheats or something available? Haven't found anything so far.

Yesterday I played the last mission for 40min or something just to get a crash after finishing it. I didn't even see a cutscene or something ingame :( FUCK!

Oh and YES! I don't want to play this mission on captain or primarch :)

btw how should you be able to get the redeption goal anyway? There are unlimited respawns, right?

why are there no optional missions where you can get some more wargear :(

Necrons are my favorite faction, but IG is next, and there's no doubt about it. IG also have a huge following, making them the most popular race which is left out of the game.

Plus the IG in Chaos Rising have a ton of voice work done; to me this tells that they're already being worked on for the next expansion.

I also have doubts on whether Relic will try to fit as many races into the game as they did with DoW. So, next is IG, then if there's to be one more, I see the Tau rounding out the roster.

IMO, Necrons never make it into the game, and I personally don't want to see Necrons before a new Codex.

Yeah, tried that mission once and saw that it would take me too much time and bore me to tears.
As for the remption goal: I cleared the map of Chaos before using the Preds but it didn't help any, allied AI still dies in droves, may be different for normal or anything below though. Just a ridiculous mission overall, don't know how this one passed the testing phase.

And you cannot do it quick enough to kill both of them. :( fuck that mission

I'll try to teleport/jump to the boss without killing the chaos marine

my space marines just got owned badly by my friend orks
is there weakness for the orks because my tactical space marines and scouts can't do shit when the ork become mad :/

wanna know whats funny. I want to trade my Blizzcon 2008 beta code for a gifted copy of DOW II + expansion on steam, plus another JRPG for the PS3.

cuz I know I can't hack the multiplayer of SC2, and would rather now get into the single player of DOWII +expansion. Even though i wouldnot pay full price when game was released.

Man, I love playing with Chaos Space marines, so powerful fully upgraded with their inferno bolters. Pretty expensive to get them to that point though.

custom keys inc next patch
" The immediate priorities for modding from Relic are first getting hotkeys editable by the user.
That's coming in Patch 2.2, and we've also exposed the camera controls so you can remap those keys."
I can't believe it took this long. That was a major gripe I had with the game. The default keybinds were just awkward.

Anyways, getting back into this after a long layoff...

I guess there was a rank reset? That's probably a good thing, I'm so bad right now. Orks seem like a mess or is it just me? That used to be my main faction. I've messed around with Eldar a few times and fared better. I might just go with that until Orks get help.

I tried Last Stand for the first time as well. It's pretty fun. I'm probably gonna grab the expansion whenever it goes on sale. I don't really care that much for the single player anyways.

is the expansion just for single player, does it add anything to the multiplayer?

(are there separate servers for the old game and expansion or are they molded into one?)

Lets you choose the Chaos faction for multiplayer, and adds a Chaos and Tyranid option for Last Stand.

same servers, same game... they even added one new unique unit for all the old factions regardless of if you bought the xpac or not.

I have recently tried to give the original dawn of war campaign a chance. I only ever played it online in a LAN cafe around my university back in the day.

I just loaded up Dark Crusade because I wanted to try Tau. But seriously what the hell, is the difficulty borked or do I just suck? I am playing on normal and I rarely have trouble in offline RTS games. However, anytime I run into an enemy with two bases I just get overrun. I am guessing it is like playing 2 people so its twice my population cap.

I really don't want to bump it down to easy.

I beat the original campaign on the insane (or highest) difficulty setting! :D The strategy is usually just expand slowly enough that you can defend your base until you have a bunch of upgrade marines / assault squads and the key is those huge tanks with the laser upgrade, they kill everything. 3 or 4 of those and you're unstoppable.

so outside of the Chaos faction this is the same multiplayer game, no new maps or modes?
I was thinking about picking this up for the multiplayer only, but it sounds like that would be a waste :(

All the new CR maps were added to the original game, 8 in total, I think. Relic are kind souls, and the expansion is worth the cost.
