I get the impression with The Man Of Steel is DC is going to do the same thing that Marvel did with Iron Man. Start with a slow build with little fanboy tidbits here and there and then ensure the new Green Lantern/Batman/The Flash/Wonder Woman movies fit into base storyline similar to what Marvel did with Incredible Hulk/Thor/Captain America and then crescendo with the Justice League movie.
The Man Of Steel could definitely fit with the ending of The Dark Knight Rises, all you'd need to do is just drop bits of conversation here and there about 'The terrorist event in Gotham' and 'What happened to the Batman?' etc. and go from there.
I think the TMOS and TDKR fit stylistically well with each other. I actually thought DC were going to what Marvel did with Avengers back in 2006 with Batman Begins/Superman Returns where there were small tenuous links between the two movies but I guess that didn't work out.

If they are looking for a 2015 release for JL, they have no interest in a slow build like Marvel did. Don't underestimate how difficult and ballsy that was for Marvel to pull off. Yeah they built this whole universe up, but if they fuck up and bow to suits and cast, say, Sam Worthington or Ryan Reynolds, or whatever hot young star was around at the time, as Iron Man, this whole thing probably comes tumbling down. Granted, it's up the writers and movie makers to put together a quality product regardless, but I don't think DC wants to risk the success of a potential cash cow like JLA to rest on the back of the individual success of Wonder Woman or Flash movies. What if they disappoint? You've lost your meal ticket. Put out a Superman movie. Put out the JLA movie next. Then reintroduce a new Batman franchise based on whoever they cast in JLA. That's probably their plan. If characters like Wonder Woman or Flash are popular enough with movie goers based on Justice League then you give them their own movies.
And even though it would be interesting, I doubt they will piggyback off the Nolan-verse and weave that into Man of Steel and Justice League. Mostly because it would be risky to **DKR SPOILERS**
make an extended universe movie without the real Batman/Bruce Wayne, and bringing Wayne back would discredit Nolan's movies and ending. Plus Bale probably wouldn't even do it
With this new movie they really have to hit the Batman casting out of the park. That has to be their home run if they want to reach anywhere near Avengers success. That's the most charismatic and well known character. Whoever is cast has to be their RJD/Iron Man and carry not only JL but also the future Batman movies.

You make some very valid points Ninja Scooter and yes Marvel took a big risk in trying to deliver cinematic universe on this scale but they pulled it off. In my opinion I think Warner/DC is leaving a lot of money on the table if they just go straight from The Man of Steel -> Justice League, without any build-up or culmination of storylines. In an ideal world, I would hold off on the JLA movie until they can get the new Batman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and The Flash right and then go all out with the JLA movie. I think The Avengers has shown that it can be done right with the right amount of time, planning and excellent casting.
All Warner/DC need to do to get this off the ground is approach it the same way Marvel did, just little seeds here and there throughout the first movie and maybe even a post-credits scene to test the waters to start tying the movies together. Essentially that's all Marvel did and it culminated beautifully in The Avengers. That's why I think Zack Snyder's comment at Comic-Con of 'We're getting Superman's house in order first' and the delay to polish TMOS is a sign that Warner/DC have seen what Marvel have done with The Avengers and will try to do the similar with JLA.
If and when a JLA movie does come out, I want to get that same feeling I got in The Avengers with that
big pan around the heroes in the final battle with the biggest shit eating grin on my face and I'm thinking "Holy fuck, I cannot believe how fucking epic this is! They managed to pull this off - Iron Man, Thor, Captain America etc. are fighting side-by-side!"
It might sound selfish, but I want that same feeling when watching the JLA movie. Seeing Superman, Batman etc. fighting side-by-side on the big screen against a cosmic threat and absolutely geeking out the powers that be finally pulled it off.

After thinking about it more, I'm going to agree with you on this one. I think Nolan's trilogy should remain a self-contained set of movies. They tell a complete story and it is
open-ended
but you are right on the money on how it would discredit Nolan. That story is done and will stand alone and the test of time on its own merits, while the new Batman would definitely have to tie into TMOS somehow.
But you are absolutely right about the casting of Batman; whoever they cast in the Batman reboot basically has to be their equivalent of RDJ and has to carry not only the new Batman movies, but the JLA movies as well. From what I've seen so far in the leaked Comic-Con footage, Henry Cavill MIGHT be able to fulfil that role but if Ben Affleck/Warner/DC cast appropriately for new Batman/Wonder Woman/Flash (And I'm sure Affleck is aware of this) theres potential to build this into a long-running DC Cinematic Universe and its going to be huge.
Whatever they do, please, no Cyborg. At least not initially.
And if they really are skipping past preliminary movies, I say just copy and paste the Justice League cartoon's pilot episode where heroes like Martian Manhunter and Hawkgirl literally pop out of nowhere. Voila!
Just heard about this. This is a bad idea, I thought WB was smarter than this. They need to leave the Batman and Superman franchises alone. We need one Superman trilogy and another Batman trilogy and then WB can proceed to make their bad Justice League film. Snyder already said that Superman is "alone" in this universe, no other heroes.
I really wanted Affleck to do it. Love his style in The Town and Gone Baby Gone. And if they wanted to do something a little different than the Avengers he would have worked.
But maybe his style fits better with a Batman type movie. Maybe he gets to direct the next set of Batman movies.
Wachowskis could do an amazing as well. The action and visuals would be top notch. As long as their is a good script either of these choices could make a decent movie out of it. I still have reservation about taking Batman right after such a successful run in the grounded in reality world Nolan created and then asserting him back into what is by nature far more fantastical and out there.
It could be done but then I don't want the JL Batman to mix with any of the stand alone Batman movies.
Wait the link provided doesn't really say if Affleck denied or didn't accept. Just that "SADLY IT DOESN'T SEEM LIKE HE WILL TAKE THE PROJECT".
Wait. There are people who don't think The Wachowskis could make an amazing superhero flick? The fuck is wrong with you plebs?
Anyway, as much as that would get my ass into the theatre DAY FUCKING ONE for one of these movies, I don't want them wasting their time on this cash in bullshit.

Though I'd love to see what the Wachowskis' could do with a Justice League film (basically the whole of the DC Universe and a blank cheque) this whole story feels a little 'monkey see, monkey do' to me.
The Wachowski's have always been the favoured 'sons' (so to speak) over at Warners and it makes sense that they would be on any list that of directors for a big project at the studio.
But the Wachowski's have a new slate of projects at WB including a big, original sci-fi actioner called Jupiter Ascending that has (currently red hot) Channing Tatum signed to star so I imagine that they have enough on their plate already. Besides I think Warners might want to go with an upcoming director who would commit to 2 or 3 potential Justice League films much like Nolan did with the Batman films.
A 'realistic' list of potential directors for a Justice League movie might be Rian Johnson, Ruben Fleischer, Lord/Miller and (seriously) Guy Ritchie.
Sources close to the project have informed the Superman Super Site that studio exec's, who are reportedly still far from a final decision on who will helm the Justice League film, are interested in Ratner as a possible contender for the role of director.
"The studio is very pleased with the work that Brett [Ratner] has done as a producer and director on past projects," states our sources. "They are now very interested in seeing what he can do with helping finally bring this group of iconic superheroes to the big screen!"
Ratner would certainly fit the criteria of someone with experience in directing a superhero movie as he has had prior experience with "X-Men - The Last Stand" (2006) and was also set to direct "Superman Returns" before Bryan Singer eventually took over directing duties.
Ratner lost any heat that he had with the studios years ago. Ratner isn't on any list for any big film at any studio.
If Ratner can't set up a medium budget action/comedy at WB (which he tried to do last year) which is his 'bread and butter' then he certainly isn't going to get the nod for what will be one of their biggest projects on their slate at the moment.
If this was 'leaked' it was probably leaked by someone within Ratner's own camp trying to drum up some enthusiasm for him doing this.
As I said before expect WB to choose a young, up and coming director for this like a Rian Johnson or a Ruben Fleischer.
