Warner Bros says that ‘SUICIDE SQUAD KILL THE JUSTICE LEAGUE’ "has fallen short of our expectations"

Yeah, & look how long the development for SS was. You think they're gonna be any more time with content updates?
who knows what their plan is, just saying using avengers as an example of a strong brand failing (and thus a "weaker" brand not standing a chance), without actually looking at the reason why avengers failed, makes it a bad example.

I feel it beats my expectation. It was looking like absolute shit but it did show up on twitch few times. I'm surprise to see 441 viewers on twitch for this game. We really need them to share their expectation when they do this kind of comments.

edit: I wish one day we will get a documentary of what happen in Rocksteady between Arkham Knight and Suicide Squad. Based on rumor, it was probably a huge mess.

Hopefully, they can regroup and give us Arkham 4 and pretend this game and gotham knights never happened.

Zero chance of that. None of them will blame the GaaS aspect - because that was their idea - they'll blame the IP instead.

Thats's how this stuff works. The executives can't ever possibly admit they were wrong, because that might affect their personal fortunes, so they'll find a scapegoat.

Don't ever think those in charge give a fuck about the actual games, stories or characters.

Regroup?

I wouldn't trust this lot to write Christmas cracker jokes at this point

I am shocked. Shocked I tell you. Nobody saw this coming from miles away after gameplay was first revealed. NOBODY I TELL YOU!

Now to be realistic. I find it funny how the masses can see this coming a mile away yet the publisher and developer can't. It really shows you how out of touch they are with their consumers anymore. Very sad really.

how've we come to live in a world where basically almost all the major publishers who supposedly know just what it is that we want, & just what it is that works best for us, don't? or is it just that they're completely preoccupied with fabricating for us what it is that they want us to like/want, to the point of not really giving a shit about the other part?...

Seriously, what were the expectations? They should have known a long time ago that a GaaS game is very unlikely to work unless it is something really special.

If not even Marvel Avengers during the peak Marvel phase failed, what made them think an IP like Suicide Squad would have any chance to be successful.

I am sure they are working on plan B and C:

- Ask Microsoft to put it on Gamepass, but Microsoft don't want it for sure either.

- Make it free to play and see what they can sell as Microtransactions.

In other news, water is wet.
"Water is not wet because wetness arises from the interaction between a liquid and a solid surface. In other words, wetness is a property that occurs when water or another liquid comes into contact with a solid object."

Indeed, water may make you or any solid object wet, but it is a liquid and therefore not wet.

Remember when they did the reveal just before it was going to come out last year then feedback was poor and it was suddenly delayed.

Makes you wonder what they did during the delay.

The only downside here is that Warner Bros had such a huge hit with Hogwarts that they're probably going to escape this disaster unscathed.

Rocksteady is another matter entirely. It's pretty clear the studio as we once knew it is dead and buried.

That they had any expectations for this abortion to sell at all just shows how woefully out of touch WB is.

This shit really had no right to exist... no-one fucking wanted or asked for this.

If they keep the bar low, then when the numbers come in, and they are above the low bar...happy days. They have been expectations. 😅

They don't call em HELLdivers for nothing.
Man, that number keeps poping up everywhere. It almost seems like one out of of every thousand or so 3-digit numbers I see is, the mark of the beat. There's no way that could just be coincidence.

For a company that pretty much just focuses on disrespecting their audience / customers....and they act surprised that it failed?

It really goes to show WB is not interested in making good games. They are only interested in the next flavor of the week scam to see if anyone is stupid enough to bite so they can line their pockets. Fuck WB games.

Is there anyone who didn't see this coming from a galaxy away?

This game is a near-unprecedented miscalculation. Wrong game, wrong place, wrong time.

The idea of what this game could have been was actually interesting. I remember when first announced I said as much to people. Then this games as a service bullshit was announced I lost a bit of hope. Then the gameplay was shown and I lost all hope. Sad thing is there were glimpses of hope in the final product. The museum section with you being hunted looked cool when I watched it.

I am pretty sure if Rocksteady will survive this and are permitted to work on Arkham 4 or whatever, the game would still not reach the quality of the first games. I remember hearing that a lot of the developers responsible for the old games left a long time ago and it shows in the bland gameplay of Suizide Squad. Perhaps some people who made the cutscenes are still there, but the people behind the gameplay mechanics surely not.

So...will Warner learn from their mistakes or blame the audience?
They will in all likelihood decide gamers don't care about the Arkhamverse anymore but if they can just deliver a similar game in a new continuity it'll somehow outsell Hogwarts Legacy.

Seems to be a problem across multiple industries now. Execs and management will rather save face, push a message or chase unsustainable ideals over taking pragmatic steps to make money by way of making a solid product.

They went straight from making all the money all the time at all costs to flushing cash down the toilet, when there was in fact a significant win-win middleground all along where both the consumer could be better-satisfied while the business made a reliable profit.

I hope things can go back to wanting the product to sell itself, rather than letting the bean-counters to be in charge of creative.

Just making a new Rocksteady Batman game would have sold better and taken less time. Hogwarts Legacy sold like 20+ million copies last year and wasn't some live service shit.

This trend will burn itself out eventually as stupid execs lose tons of money and cost hundreds of jobs. It's insane that Ubisoft's Skull and Bones was in development in multiple forms since like 2013 and was finally shit out to fail instantly and like a month before MS puts Sea of Thieves multiplatform too.
