Watch Dogs has gone gold

Judging on AIV Black Flags my expectations for this game running decently on PC are very low. That game was a mess. Expecting Watch Dogs to be the same with all the turmoil surrounding the game.

new engine. anvil has always ran like ass on pc, and so did far cry 3 at launch (think any current rig can smoke that now though).

But AC1-2 trilogy ran fine.

So yeah a dice roll, but its sadly the most exciting part of W_D atm. Too many pc games require zero tweaking because of little to no setting options and kinda just look bad maxed.

:( I never played Black Flag on PC but I definitely remember reading about some of the problems gamers were having with performance. Were those issues largely addressed in any patches or does the game still have a lot of problems when it comes to performance?

AC4 is quite demanding. But the main problem is that the game does not support triple buffering natively. So, for example, if your framerate drops to 59 from 60, the game automatically drops to 30!
So it keeps switching all the time between 30 and 60, making itself unplayable.
However, I was able to force triple buffering via D3D overrider application - and then the game was perfectly playable (50-60fps, mostly 60) on my Radeon 280X, in 1080p and high details.
This is the first Ubisoft game with this issue. I have played and finished literally dozens of Ubisoft games on PC and they never had this bizzare problem. At least D3D overrider exists though.

Same Ole Ubisoft. Sketch. What happened to reviewers just reviewing games on their own with copies sent to them by the companies. Why are these Publisher Sponsered review events are just weird to me. Ubi probably needs those high scores though considering they probably spent alot of money on this game and making sure those reviewers got a nice tablet.

I can understand with this title specifically due to their touted seamless integration of multiplayer. I'd imagine they want every reviewer to experience that but unfortunately we won't know how it works in a consumer setting. Wouldn't want to play a primarily SP game in those cramped stations or those chairs for hours though.

I really like the design of the game - the logos, the flat design (I don't like flat design in real life but it works well for the game) and all the other little details. Ubisoft has some great artists.

Then why don't they review the game with the same conditions as the consumers? Not all of us will be able to play the game with hardware, network and other playing conditions supplied directly by Ubisoft
