Watch Dogs has gone gold

Greatly looking forward to this game. I have the Gold edition with the season pass pre-ordered on PSN. I have the week after the game comes out off as well, so between Watchdogs and WildStar, I am going to have a hell of a good week.

Getting my copy with my GTX 770 (for my first ever Gaming PC). I'm really excited for this game. Can't wait to play it.

Can you recreate this only with a Wii boxart?
that would be hilarious :D

I saw the (CG) trailer for this on TV the other day with my two housemates who are both pretty casual (sports games and the odd shooter only). They both thought it looked like absolute shit. I know a bit more about it and I also think it got portrayed really badly. The guy just looks like a bit of a geeky clown. I might get it when it goes cheaper, but I'm honestly confused about why anyone in their right mind would pre-order this.

Because we are excited for the actual gameplay and not because of a CGI trailer or a character design.

I can only speak for myself, but personally I preordered it because:

- it was 28 dollars on PC
- I love city action games
- I would love to explore Chicago, even virtually, especially when the game has cockpit view
- The gameplay seems like it has a lot of potential
- I had great enjoyment with other recent Ubi games like FC3 or AC4 despite some flaws

Sorry if my post got misinterpreted - I wasn't saying the game is shit or anything. I'm wondering why you'd pre-order it as opposed to waiting for it to come out and see some reviews. Given it's somewhat tumultuous production schedule, the fact that key technical aspects were only announced as the game went gold, the limited amount of gameplay videos etc. I didn't ask why you'd buy it, I'd ask why you'd buy it without having any critical response applied to it.

Sorry if I hurt your feelings.

Well, I was kinda on the edge about pre-ordering it but then the deluxe version went up on Origin for only $30. No way I was going to pass that up. Then the new gameplay videos came out a few weeks ago and hyped me the hell up. I think there's enough media out there now for someone to determine whether or not they'll enjoy this game.

And I don't really even care about reviews now anyway. Saints Row IV got an 80-something on Metacritic and I hate that game with all my might and think it deserves the shittiest of scores possible along with the flamest pile of Kardashian dung that is Saints Row 3. Nowadays I just make purchasing decisions on my own based on the developer's experience, the media released, and fellow-minded gamer impressions. Watch Dogs may end up having an extremely shit main story but I know I'll love it just for dicking around with the civilians.

It is good it has finally gone gold.but..

900p/30fps ps4 literally makes me feel sick.

This is not why I bought a PS4.

I have a PS3 for ~HD ready games.

However wiill wait for reviews/post launch resolution patches (hope springs eternal) for final verdict.

I do not really care much about reviews - I read too many negative ones about games I enjoyed, and too many positive ones about games I hated.
The game was cheap (28 bucks on release is super cheap, considering), and even if it sucks (gameplay repetitive, shitty story, etc) - which I doubt it will - it will still have great value for me in its open world Chicago. I love exploring virtual worlds and that has enough value by itself for me.
Also, there was that latest 101 9 minute trailer, which, frankly, makes the game look pretty damn amazing to me, both in gameplay and graphically (I watched gamersyded 1GB version of it). In fact right now, I am more excited about Watch Dogs than I was about Dark Souls 2 - because as much as DS2 was a great game (I finished it a week ago), it was downgraded much much more significantly than Watch Dogs ever was.

lol I'm waiting till release to cancel my pre-order. Pretty much lost interest a while ago, not to mention my roommate is already planning on buying this game among other big AAA titles. Honestly, 6-12 month waits and price drops this gen will be my best friend.

I can't imagine how ill you felt while playing on previous generations for the last 8 years, or many games on Xbox One . It must have hospitalized you.

Come on man, its fine. :)

Why would somebody pre-order a game if he hasn't played it before? I mean its great to see people excited about the game but its just kind of stupid.
because you can cancel pre orders? best buy gives a $10 reward cert if you preorder it. Why not pre order and take the free $10 if it reviews well and cancel if it doesn't?

Yeah, that 101 trailer solidified my hype into cold, hard steel. The game looks fresh as hell.

Anyone know if this is a more geographically accurate Chicago than the Seattle in Second Son.

It couldn't be much less accurate.

Edit: Not that it matters much to me, I haven't spent any real time in Chicago, so I wouldn't know the difference.

Despite all the internet technology discussion around this game, I'm still pretty excited for it. Seems to have some nice ideas, and I'm sure the invasion aspect of it will be a ton of fun.

Well your PS3 will not render this in 720p

Also there are more graphical and gameplay advantages to the Next Gen Versions then just a higher resolution.

Managed to pre-order this off Tesco for 32 quid a few weeks back. That multiplayer video release a few weeks back was great. Unless Wolfenstein reviews amazingly well, it'll be my next PS4 game.

Embargo ending 22 may mean that they might be quite confident about the quality and scores, since it is 5 days before release. I am hopeful.

Wish they had gone the Mario Kart 8 route(pun intended). I need to know if this game is worth a damn NOW!

After watching that 9+ minute video that came out a few days ago I'm a little concerned about how it's going to run on my computer. There were a couple of scenes in there where the framerate just took a dive. I don't know if that was running on a Xbox One, PS4, or PC but, regardless, it was atrocious. I get the feeling there's going to be a lot of tweaking of .ini files. :P

That said, I'm still interested in finally being able to play the game and explore all there is to do in the world.

Judging on AIV Black Flags my expectations for this game running decently on PC are very low. That game was a mess. Expecting Watch Dogs to be the same with all the turmoil surrounding the game.

"for this gen" ? You know it isn't new, especially for big AAA third parties, right ?
I assume this was the exception, not the rule since most reviews were done in the X360/PS3 with publishers supplying the review copies (physical) or digital codes to be played at the reviewer's office/home/etc. with a strict NDA.

Yeah, that's actually why I think I'm going to pick it up on PS4 instead of my gaming PC. I just don't want to spend the time optimizing an Ubisoft open world game like I did on AC4, and I imagine the PS4 version will be hassle free. The problem is that you can pick the best setting for a particular area, but as you're driving around and things are happening, it's hard to know how to maximize both graphics and performance. And while as a PC gamer I do enjoy doing that, Ubisoft open world games aren't always worth the hassle.

And ultimately I guess I've always imagined myself playing Watchdogs on the PS4.

Yay, finally going to get to play my ps4 release day game!
Same here!

Yes, that is unusual for a major release and one as hyped up as this game. And if the game somehow isn't up to scratch then it will at least give people chance to cancel their pre-orders.

I've never understood the point in review embargoes personally as they just make me suspicious of the quality of the game. It's always refreshing to see a game get reviewed days or even a week before release.
