I have been pretty hyped since the multi-player trailer, but was still on the fence, the mostly positive feedback about the game play form gaf has sealed the deal, the fact that it look great too me on ps4 doesn't hurt.

See, there you're wrong.

The differences are huge. Completely missing DoF (it was the best I've ever seen in a game), worse textures, less polygons and a lighting that has nothing to do with what we've seen 2012.

The depth of field isn't missing, still present when you go into slow mo and when you bring up your phone. Doesn't look quite as nice though.

Any peeps with the PS4 version, do your codes (the redeemable ones packed in with the game) work? Mine say they are invalid...

Worked for me here in US on Friday. But it was only one code ("The White Hat Pack").

What downgrade?

To be fair, anyone can make that argument when looking at specific places in the game. Yeah, that shot looks damn good, as does any other building with brick textures when up close.

You can't say, however, that the building in the back doesn't look flat as hell by comparison. It almost looks like a stage set built out of cardboard and way too flooded with light. That isn't a deal breaker for me at all but it does feel as though the game is graphically schizophrenic. During some times of day and in some locations - the beginning with the rainy night outside of Owl Motel, for example - the game looks ridiculously good. During other times of day and at other locations - usually densely packed areas in daytime, like downtown (The Loop) - it doesn't look very good at all.

Biggest bummer about the downgrade is the apparent complete lack of tessellation. Figured that'd be a given in this day and age.

I almost never buy games used, and I can usually let small things like performance issues slide (PS3 multiplatform days) or minor downgrades (MGS4) slide, but in this case a large part of the game's earlier appeal is lost to me, so no, I do not definitely want it and neither am I obligated to buy it.

Hacking people is fun and there are some unlockables perks for being good at it.

I may get the game just to play hide and seek. I love it at the end when Aiden guns down the people in the alley, hoping to get the hacker(is that why he ended up with a negative score?).

Not hard enough, imo, but I like my games pretty punishing. You die fairly fast though, I guess. Definitely have to stay in cover during a fire fight.

There's a risk/reward system with the online XP. He ended up with a negative score because I hacked him flawlessly, despite the fact that he was highly rated when I accepted the contract. If he had spotted me, even at 99%, then he would have salvaged those points (though there would be a penalty for how long it took, I think).
Oh and I'm pretty sure he started firing at any NPC he saw, hoping it was me.

Can't say for sure. All that info is hidden from the player.

You could be getting trailed without ever knowing it.

Here's The difference between "Ultra" and "Low" settings for me

For some reason I couldn't change the textures parameter so they were set to "high" which is the middle setting (Ultra requires 3gb GPU, High requires 2gb GPU)

I've been ordering from Amazon for 5 years and they have never missed a release date delivery for me. They take some measures to make SURE it doesn't arrive earlier.

Ok, managed to get AA turned off and textures set as low as possible, also running at 720p. So I guess this is comparable to last gen versions.

EDIT: Doesn't look that bad from images, but in motion, it looks horrendous, also you have to remember the FPS it will be running on PS3/360 and will be upscaled to 1080 if you have a HDTV

Exactly. There is a reason a lot of the pre-release footage was shot mid-afternoon or raining at night, becuase it looks cool with the shiny puddles, wet surfaces and long shadows. Mid day and cloudy, the lighting is too soft to cast shadows.

The loss/gain of points depends on the difference in your skill levels. He was actually higher than me, hence the reason i got a big payout at the end (600ish). Plus, if you get matched with another player who is not on the same level with you, it will tell you what the risk/reward is before accepting the contract.

Ah, that makes more sense. Do both players have to accept the contract, or just the person doing the hacking (so that the target isn't aware of your existence until you hack them)?

Man, it's super frustrating that there's no native melee button in this game. You can't just walk down the street sucker punching people, which is shame when you're walking by scumbags who "frequent racist blogs", are "acquitted of child pornography charges", etc.

It'd be cool if you could mark them so they don't disappear with the normal NPC crowd, and be able to follow them and wait for an opportunity to take them down with nobody finding out. Then if you take out so much of a certain type of person, you'd start hearing about it on the radio or TV. Maybe that'll be something for the next game.

Yeah, me too. Texture blending on grounds is a necessity with next-gen games. It makes the image looks way more organic. For WD, I blame cross-gen limits.
