Watch_Dogs |OT| PS4 would probably melt trying to do this

finally got into some multiplayer today and while the hacking part is interesting the other mode (decryption?) is garbage. Whoever gets the document runs away as fast as possible, preferably in a fast car. It also sucks that you only have to have the document for the last 1% of the decryption for it to net you a win. It also doesn't help that aiming is attrocious, even after disabling mouse smoothing.

Atleast the singleplayer seems fun so far

(completely off-topic but why am I still a junior? I don't really care that much, just find it a bit odd)

Just hid in a cargo container that I could hack to suspend in the air while hacking someone, and he never once looked up lol. Really love hacking other people. It's so good.

What's the early estimate on metacritic score? I'm undecided on whether to get this or just buy Wolfenstein right away.

I don't get it. From that stream it appears that you get notified when someone is tailing you, but I'm 100% sure that they've stated earlier that you won't be.

The whole thing that made it interesting to me was how it implied that you could be watched at any time.

I really like the AR stuff. Pretty fun.

And more screenshots. (PS4, capture card)

I don't really give a shit about the "professional" reviews so much as user reviews. I'll make my decision based on what GAF says.

I expect the "pro" reviews and Metacritic score will be higher than the game deserves. And that's not limited to this game. It seems there's some rule in the games journalism industry that all major AAA releases with massive marketing campaigns must receive a glowing positive review score (85-90 or higher), regardless of whether the game even runs, much less whether it's any good. I can't think of a single major AAA release in the last few years that wasn't praised from the rooftops, even for games that were mediocre at best.

Amen. Deduct those 10-15 points/percent for the pro review and it's a bit more accurate.

Go to options, then callibration, then move the slider down to 0. World of difference. I can actually see shadows now. Screen (PS4)

Wolfenstein is an absolutely amazing game, it will probably end up being my GOTY.

But you should probably just get Watch_Dogs now, mess around with the open world, and then grab Wolfenstein later in the year to swing through the amazing campaign on the cheap.

Regardless of which one is the "better game", I think just by default you would get more of your money's worth out of Watch_Dogs.

The fact that AC3 received 9s and 10s considering how half-baked and broken it was is mind-boggling. It's part of the reason I'm skeptical about Watch_Dogs and most open-world Ubi releases honestly.

Though the praise in here shows some guarded promise.

Man, trying to play this game as Batman does not work.

It really sucks to be this "for the people" vigilante, only to then have to pretty much murder a bunch of security guards.

In the earlier missions it's possible to either sneak by or simply knock them out, but later on it's pretty much impossible to get by some of the areas/compounds/building without them spotting and gunning you down forcing you to take them out.

I'm not cool with it but will rationalise killing gangbangers to myself.
But weekend CtOS guards? (scanning them shows they have multiple jobs) They're just there to do a job, they have no stake in oppressing and spying on people..

It really messes with how I like to role play games like this and does not fit the flawed but morally good character that is Aiden Pierce.

I should't let it bother me but it does, takes me right out of the game or to put it in Patrick Klepecs words it's some serious "Ludonarrative Dissonance"

It's a problem in most games, not just Watch_Dogs. Most games cast you in the light of a hero but you usually just end up being a mass-murderer anyway. At least the non-violent option is there, albeit not always practical.

Being able to delve into each individual NPC's life really makes it hit that much harder here.

Last mission I was on I accidentally hacked a "Explode" electric terminal on the wall next to a guard that the game very much wants you to use, then upon scanning his corpse I see he's a single farther who works part time as a line cook.

I was like "Fuck, now I have to restart the damn mission"

Edit: on that same thought, I did once kill a guard I scanned who was "acquitted from a charge of child abuse" because he "tampered with court evidence"

I guess my Aiden is more of a Rorschach than a Batman

Seriously? You should try playing it at night with those settings before labeling it as a fix.

That's probably the intention, to make you feel bad about your possibly violent actions. The little personal information chunks on each NPC are an ingenious little addition to the game to be sure. Most people probably won't give a shit and just shoot everyone anyway, haha.

I try to shoot the nicer ones in the knee caps, and that makes me feel a little better about myself.
