Way too much whining & crying lately so this is a thread to talk about what you're happy about in Gaming

Way more great games than I'll ever have the time to play, with such a wild amount of diversity in all possible parameters.

But most of all, that the tools to tinker around with games yourself are so widely available and supported them I can even expand my hobby in that direction.

Happy that Diablo 2 resurrected exists for me to play whenever I want.

Happy to get a mgs3 remake soon.

Happy a new gears of war is on the horizon.

Happy a Nintendo Switch 2 should finally exist next year.

Happy project robot exists.

Happy path of exile 2 is here even if it has a lot of issues.

Happy titan quest 2 is on the horizon.

One of my favorite devs in the industry if not my favorite dev in the industry currently. Them and RGG studios kick major amounts of ass and they deserve love and props.

I am very sour on gaming, but it is great to see that there are developers who are still willing and able to make actual video games, like Astro Bot, Stellar Blade, Black Myth: Wukong, and Space Marine 2. I look forward to more action games. I'm having a lot of fun with Diablo 3, and starting The Witcher 3.

Christopher from N4G can't tolerate good xbox news and he's old as f. Gamespot says something mean about any random topic they picked and expect nice replies. ign is just about podcasts and the site besides games release dates is a complete garbage. Polygon is the house of Anita Sarkeesian. Kotako besides its adds is the newspaper of video games. Push Square posts like what you see in blogs and magazines. Game Informer is pretty much the same. Game Trailers is the house of Trailers. Windows Central posts are mediocre and pretty much just about reviews. The Verge just for the clicks. Wired is Cerny's favorite site for interviews. Cnet is irrelevant.

Im happy that PC gets a lot of couch co-op games nowadays. Still get left out from time to time - but even RE5 got a couch co-op patch. Quake 2, Brotato, Gigabash, Helldivers, Mass Exodus lots of great times with my kids. Quake 2 especially - that was my game for a looong time so getting to play co-op with my son and daughter was amazing and something I didn't know I wanted.

Between online stores, multiplataforming, retrocompability, emulators, indie games, free games, mods, fan games and internet we have more to choose and play than ever. So, yeah, we can complain about so much things of the current industry (I do), but we have the power of ignore them and enjoy what makes us happy too. I played only two games released on this year (SH2R and Mullet Madjack) and it doesn't matter because I enjoyed dmc5, REmake 4, Powerslave and the Nun Massacre for the first time, I replayed the original RE trilogy, the first remake and the first two Silent Hill games, and I'm playing Celeste at this moment (great game btw)...and I have a lot of more! This is more than I could say when I was in school.

Oh, and I said about indie games. There are lots of indie games, crowfunded ones and just made by small companies of most genres and it's imposible even know the existence of all of them. There are lots of bad and mediocre games, of course...and lots of great ones too.

I'm playing BG3, and while it's not the wow some people got, because I played 1/2, it is very very good.

I also bought two pink Switch joycons and I'm very happy about that.

Happy about the rise of chinese and korean stuios and games so we are not stuck with the garbage many western devs are trying to feed us with.

i'm happy that my favourite series, resident evil, is in a great place right now. RE9, RE0 remake, code veronica remake. i want them all. silent hill could also be back? sh2 was fantastic so i'm hoping bloober is already in pre production of SH1 or SH3. i'm also hoping silent hill f will turn out good.

i can't believe we're getting a max payne remake, that's a dream come true for me and i'm optimistic remedy won't fuck it up. gta 6 looks sick and we're getting a new cyberpunk game sometime in the future.

Loving the Switch 2 leaks currently. Tracking and discussing gaming rumors is one of my favorite games. I only wish the hardware (or at least the leaks) was weirder. I count on Nintendo for my generational dose of whimsy.

Beyond that, been playing/replaying some older games with my wife, so that's a good time. I love that couch co-op is still a thing and that gaming companies bother to port or patch fun co-op games from generations past. I don't play as many new AAA blockbusters as I used to, but I think that's more a function of the type of game the big studios have been pushing out this gen. I have plenty to play though, so I'm happy.

Indies are making some great stuff
China and Korea making some great games. China finding its feet in AAA will be huge, their resources mean we could in coming years significantly increase the amount of decent big game releases each year.

I am happy that inidie devs are now capable of making AA quality games, so it's easier than ever to escape the AAA slop of today.

Penny's Big Breakaway, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, tons of great boomer shooters etc.

Very happy and excited for a lot of gaming stuff in 2025:

New GPU's (5090 here we go)
New Nintendo console (with Metroid Prime 4 finally coming out!)
New exciting PC handhelds

A bunch of very exciting new games!!
Some highlights for me include:

Elden Ring Nightreign
Avowed
Metroid Prime 4
Replaced
Mina the hollower
The eternal life of Goldman
Doom dark ages
Death Stranding 2
Fable
Ghost of Yokai
New Ninja Gaiden

..and maybe a new 3D Mario?

And released stuff that I haven't played yet:

Black Myth
Indiana Jones
Stalker 2
Metaphor
Baldurs gate 3
Zelda Echoes of wisdom (hoping for improved performance on this with the new Nintendo console)

And a bunch of YS and Trails games I still haven't gotten to.

Yep, 2025 will be awesome for gaming (yet again)

Every year since.. well, forever have been filled with awesome gaming stuff, but 2025 is set to be brilliant.
It's a great time to enjoy this fantastic hobby and passion.

I'm happy I've reached a point where my opinion of games stays completely unaffected, no matter how much brain function flatline about them I torture myself with over the internet

Azelover

Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.
I'm happy we still have Nintendo...cause for a few moments it looked like they weren't going to make it. And no offense to anybody, but I'm bored out of my mind with the stuff coming from most other companies. With the rarest exceptions..

The last 8 years have been fantastic for SRPGs and grand strategy.

Just to name some: Tactics Ogre, Unicorn Overlord, Triangle Strategy, Fire Emblem 3 Houses/ Engage, Brigandine, Langrisser 1 and 2, Mercenaries Rebirth and Lament, Relayer, Disgaea 7, Romance of the 3 Kingdoms 8 Remake. Plus Civilization 7 is just weeks away.

Far better than 2004-2015 or so when things were pretty dire in the srpg genre.(when devs of Fire Emblem Awakening thought it would be final game in series even)

I’m so happy over Indiana Jones and the Great Circle - For a big Indy movie fan this game is just pure fan service from start to finish and the best Indy story since Last Crusade. I expected a lot but it turned out even better than expected and that’s a rare thing. In my top 5 for the best playthrough in a decade! And the definite GOTY for me.

Absolutely loved Astro Bot - gave me my first Platinum ever for me, played every second of it with excited kids sitting beside me so it’s been a family thing, we’ve been playing it for a couple weeks and did the final things for the Platinum plus the Christmas expansion on Christmas Day. Just fantastic!

Started playing Minishoot Adventures yesterday day after seeing it on John’s personal GOTY list. Pure joy! It’s Zelda and a twin stick shmup!

Small things:
Steam Big Picture mode is amazing. Everything about it makes me happy, can’t praise it enough really, nearly perfect to turn PC into a console.
I never scored a 30th anniversary PS5 Pro but I got the 30th anniversary Dualsense controller and it just makes me happy everytime I pick it up. Was really cool that they had the same colors in Astro Bot for the space ship.
Oh and Switch 2 is coming next year isn’t it? Exciting times!
Been on NeoGAF for 18 years now, I’m just glad that this place exists.

Forever Bloodborne.

Also, Silent Hill 2 was a banger, against all odds. Can't wait for more SH from Bloober. There is no way I'd have thought I'd type that sentence a year ago.
I'm happy for once that the youtubers I am subbed to that were hating on that game for being "woke" and for making the female characters ugly were wrong and that it was a good game. I mean, yeah, the female characters did not look like they came out of some rpg, but I also never saw the OG female characters as being attractive either. You can argue "better" but neither the new or old games had them looking good imo.
