It's like in their mission to be inclusive they forgot that most people find weird highschool themed video game cross over fanfic offputting.
Now you know what it's like
indeedThe podcast music is fantastic

Agreed.The podcast music is fantastic
It's the worst part of the podcast for me. It's certainly not worth the awkward shout-out every episode. The podcast music is fantastic

I love the way it segues into the cast and the way they time it so Austin goes "Peace" and then the whole thing goes nutso batshit and fades out. It's great.
While I'm being negative, they need to stop posting inside joke slack screenshots on the Waypoint twitter.
I haven't been listening to the podcast for a while, but can some explain to me these high-school themed drawings that accompany every article? There must have been a reference I missed.
Danika, their social editor, worked at Crunchyroll before.Hell no. Their Twitter account is great! I guess it helps that I also like crunchyroll's social media presence. They're very similar.
And I'm sick of the fucking podcast music.

What is it like being so crabby over the most meaningless shit day in and day out.The high school stuff is fucking terrible. While I'm being negative, they need to stop posting inside joke slack screenshots on the Waypoint twitter.

I like the podcast music if the first ~ten seconds are cut off.
More subtle writing on games, both in their design and their intersection with culture is something that I was really excited for from Waypoint. But this all feels really self-serving.
かっこいい人だ!
ええ?ほんとう?
The last two Podcast were awful and I had to stop listening to them because they are leaning way hard into Fanfic and Overwatch.... fan stuff.
Especially the GOTY podcast, example:
- The British dude was awesome, talking about how he likes the game because it pushes you to play as different characters as possible and Hence, doesn't main any..
Austin and Danielle then jumps in cuts his conversation and start giggling ''But who do you ship?'' and he was like ''huh?'' and then they just continued '' You can't just say which two you relationship, but thats what it means''
- Patrick was lauding the New Call duty for having great plot and characters you care about. Especially the Robot buddy.
Danielle ''Ferren was awesome, because she is a woman''
Wat....
Austin ''And guess what she stars in our fanfic''
Me? delete the Episode.

Yeah, it was a nice change. Danielle's a fantastic guest, but for whatever reason she turns into a "yes person" whenever she settles into a co-host chair.I've stopped listening regularly but monday's ep is alright so far. Lack of Patrick has Danielle able to contribute more than "haha yeah! Yep!" which is nice.
Anybody find Austin steering conversations back towards himself too often? He did it at least 2-3 times in the latest podcast and I swear I've noticed him doing it a lot in general. Like he'll ask someone for their take on something (in this instance he was asking Danika and Danielle about their GotY lists) and then a few sentences later he's relating it back to his own experiences and going off on long rambly tirades.
To the people giving up on the podcast, I'm kinda almost there too. I love Austin but i'm starting to realize that I liked Austin a lot more as a spoke in the GB wheel, where they've got a family of disparate personality types that play off each other, than I do as the boss of a gaming website so laser focused on appealing to the tumblr crowd.
The new call of duty does have a good plot though. Ethan, the robot buddy, is fantastic. Amazing credit sequence too.
Agreed on the fanfic/shipping stuff.
I was gonna make a post about this but I deleted it. But yeah, as much as I love Austin's discourse and could listen to him on his own for hours, I do not like the balance in this podcast at all. I felt very similarly when I was last listening to Idle Thumbs regularly (when Danielle was around) and Chris would dominate the discussion and she would do a lot of agreeing. It's just a bit frustrating when I wanna hear Danielle's opinions so much.Anybody find Austin steering conversations back towards himself too often? What's the tumblr crowd?
y'all need to chill a bit, this thread has become an ultra bummer. podcast is fine.
kind of being politically correct to a point of like being hyper aggressive. i see where the poster is coming from. the podcast is pretty eye roll inducing.
Last two eps had too many spoilers so i had to scrub through most of it.
