Nintendo will be at PAX, so there could be an official announcement before, then some sort of event at PAX to show it off? It'd be nice to have an official unveiling, then have it playable at PAX...that could steal alot of 360 thunder, especially coming off the bad 2 SKU's, price, no HDD news...but I think it may just incrimental teases instead.
Before the end of the year we're suppossed to get info on the final design, launch, pricing, specs, controller & games. That's alot of stuff...and could be given out incrimentally. Usually launch & pricing are always given last on new hardware and most likely (in the case of this system) the controller might be held off too. So that leaves final design, specs & games if it's just gonna be a slight bit of incrimental info. What's more believable is that Nintendo shows final hardware, an idea of specs and some quick videos of games...that way they could repeat this at PAX without their current stuff being overshadowed since Revolution wouldn't be playable.
Problem is, Nintendo has said that they wanna present the software & hardware as a package, so revealing games may give too much of the "interface" away? But then that leaves the final hardware (which really shouldn't be too different or too big of a deal and specs...which are heavily to be less than that of the 360, which wouldn't steal thunder and instead end up being bad news. Hmmm...so what could they really show. Could they shock us and have specs that are at & above 360 (which would be good news) or could they show us just movies of Revolution games in progress that look comparable to 360 with no specs instead?
Who knows...I think something is gonna happen though. Nintendo has asked press for interview requests recently, "insiders" & Nintendo are saying something is happenning soon, GCN anniversary, PAX (an event more for gamers, which would suggest something to be seen or even playable) is coming up and then talk of watching G4 who plans to cover whatever is going down. Plus Microsoft has revealed more of their cards, so Nintendo may just try to counter. Plus Nintendo likes to unveil news after a big game and today Nintendog's launches...they do it so they get double coverage in the press.
