When Chekhov saw the long winter, he saw a winter bleak and dark and bereft of hope. Yet we know that winter is just another step in the cycle of life. But standing here among the people of Punxsutawney and basking in the warmth of their hearths and hearts, I couldn't imagine a better fate than a long and lustrous winter.

According to the website Wolf Gnards, Bill Murray spends 8 years, 8 months and 16 days trapped in Groundhog Day. The website Obsessed With Film claims he was trapped 12,403 days, just under 34 years, in order to account for becoming a master piano player, ice sculptor, etc.

Funnily enough, I watched the film for the first time last night. Quite enjoyed it. My first Bill Murray film.
Now go watch Lost in Translation.

Right, I'm going to sleep, if I wake up and it's 2nd Feb again, I swear to god Bill Murray! I need the days until the Switch to be less, not stay the same.
Remember... if it's February 3rd and you think you're in the clear, you're wrong.
6:00am is the witching hour.

Too early for flapjacks?
I was upset that the theater I watched Groundhog Day in tonight did not offer flapjacks. I posted a complaint with the manager. They told me I was too early and to come back tomorrow.

The only problem I have with the movie's reset concept was him becoming a master piano player. You gotta build those hand muscles to be that good, but any growth would be reset at the end of each day. A technicality I know but I can't help but think about it when I rewatch the movie.

In Spain the movie is officially called "Atrapado en el tiempo" (Trapped in time), but the majority of people still call the movie the name El Dia de la Marmota (The Groundhog Day). Strange fuck up by the translators that thought the new Spanish name for the movie would work better for marketing that translating the original English name as it is.

Stargate SG-1 had an episode like it as well. It was pretty good, especially when O'neill started to lose it.

Happy Groundhogs Day! I actually really like this holiday. Even though it doesn't mean matter of a fact that it is the end of winter, it feels like more of a symbolic turning point! Kind of like we have gotten through the most of winter and turning a corner into spring.

I'm sure it's already been said, but Groundhog Day is on Hulu.

The fam & I watched it tonight. Still a good movie.

I bought the blu-ray once it became apparent that Netflix streaming liked to troll with its availability.

The year they got rid of it ON GROUNDHOG DAY was the last straw.

Wow 😂
Removed the movie on Groundhog Day itself? That's some bullshit right there.

I/the wife was just happy to find the movie on Hulu tonight.
