Well it's Groundhog Day...again...

In Spain the movie is officially called "Atrapado en el tiempo" (Trapped in time), but the majority of people still call the movie the name El Dia de la Marmota (The Groundhog Day). Strange fuck up by the translators that thought the new Spanish name for the movie would work better for marketing that translating the original English name as it is.

Too early to punch a Nazi in the face?

Ned Ryerson?!?!

I'm starting work at an insurance sales firm in a couple weeks. I keep telling myself, over and over that I've become Ned Ryerson.

There was an X-Files episode based on this concept. It was fucking awful. It blows my mind that nobody in the script-meeting realised that it would be boring to watch the same events unfold 4 times, with negligable differences in each occurence until the final one.
Stargate had a similar episode. One of the best episodes in the series.

And the shepherd's boy says!

"There’s this mountain of pure diamond. It takes an hour to climb it and an hour to go around it, and every hundred years a little bird comes and sharpens its beak on the diamond mountain. And when the entire mountain is chiseled away, the first second of eternity will have passed."

I saw this movie for the first time about three years ago.

I hated it. Hated the protagonist, hated how he got out of the loop, didn't find it funny or insightful or clever or even interesting. Just a frustrating bore.

But I live in a post Groundhog Day world so pop culture has been shaped by the film and will be for eons... blargh

XFILES did one too?

I seriously hope Trump doesn't do anything horrible today because if I'm going to live the same day over and over, I'd like it to be a little less stupid than it has been.

When Chekhov saw the long winter, he saw a winter bleak and dark and bereft of hope. Yet we know that winter is just another step in the cycle of life. But standing here among the people of Punxsutawney and basking in the warmth of their hearths and hearts, I couldn't imagine a better fate than a long and lustrous winter.

Funnily enough, I watched the film for the first time last night. Quite enjoyed it. My first Bill Murray film.

What would you do if you were stuck in one place and every day was exactly the same, and nothing that you did mattered?

Man I love this movie.

My wife watched it for the first time a few years back. I definitely need to make it a Groundhog Day tradition. She also hadn't seen Multiplicity, which I think is underrated.

Stargate SG-1 had an episode like it as well. It was pretty good, especially when O'neill started to lose it.
