Joking aside, Groundhog Day is one of the saddest movies I've ever seen. I actually prefer Bill Murray's dramatic/sad roles to his comedic side.

Desson Howe of the The Washington Post noted that even though the film is a good Bill Murray vehicle, "'Groundhog' will never be designated a national film treasure by the Library of Congress". The film was selected by the National Film Preservation Board for preservation in the Library of Congress in 2006.
