We're at the point where "m'lady" jokes, etc are played out and not funny

These jokes are the new banderas.gif. An outdated meme that has been played out so many times it's lost all meaning. The jokes peaked with the "Fedoras of OK Cupid" tumblr. It was funny at the time, over a year ago. These jokes have become stale and outdated.

Do people here honestly interact with people like the stereotypical fedora nerd on a regular basis? Personally I'm "lucky" to notice one guy a week wearing a fedora when I'm out and about. I have never once heard somebody say the words "m'lady" in real life. The guys who I've actually seen wearing fedoras don't look like they've actually spoken to a woman before in the first place, let alone harassing them on a daily basis. These jokes are making fun of people that barely exist in society. How are they funny or relevant?

Personally I'm tired of seeing unfunny idiocy like "he should have tipped his fedora" and "m'lady" in literally every single topic involving even the most mundane male/female interaction and I want to see it stop.

PS: Saying "Thirst", "The thirst is real" or any other stupid variant is equally as bad

m'gaffer

It's one of those things that spread faster than it should have on GAF, and people just started using it in inappropriate places too, just to use it.

I agree. I hate when a thread become posters patting themselves on the back for making the same lame fedora/neckbeard joke every other post.

Seriously, what's with this obsession with neckbeards and fedoras? It's annoying.

Was going to agree with OP but this just made it funny again.

What's really funny is when you see white knight types and MRA types both accusing each other of being a fedora/neckbeard. They have so much in common, apparently. Yet they can't get along

Thanks Obama jokes have been played out for years now and people continue to use it. Being lame on the internet doesn't stop many people from using tired jokes.

The definition just changed recently to include using it in the new method.

Language evolves literally every day.

Ugh. So the word is dead.

A word cannot be defined as itself and not itself at the same time. That makes it completely meaningless.

I've seen "m'lady" used a couple times the past week or two. I had no idea what it meant until this thread.

I'm always streets behind these things and must be one of the biggest squares on here. :p

lit·er·al·ly
ˈlitərəlē,ˈlitrə-/Submit
adverb
in a literal manner or sense; exactly.
"the driver took it literally when asked to go straight across the traffic circle"
synonyms: exactly, precisely, actually, really, truly; More
informal
used for emphasis or to express strong feeling while not being literally true.
"I have received literally thousands of letters"

The only reason why that definition got added is because the majority of people are literally stupid and don't know what literally means, but the majority rules when it comes to language. Idiocracy at work.

Purposely chose an equivalently run-into-the-ground meme to respond. Come on dude, it's the internet, you're screaming at a highway here.

It's to stop people from posting those sort of threads in the first place, I think. Creating a thread to talk about some girl touching you or how a guy in an owl suit gave you carnal glances, followed by asking for rational manners of response by anonymous forum goers is usually something that exists to self-combust. As someone who is socially awkward, it's often hard to believe there could be people this in need of help prowling around during the gaming off-season. And I'm sure others feel this way as well, so we all take it as a recurring joke and well, spoil it with recurring jokes. That aren't funny or really based on anything of substance.

We're all bad people in the end.

This definition literally contradicts itself.

How can ace be one AND eleven?
