What does a seed stand for? Is it just a normal server? I need to know this for a presentation I'm working on. Thanks ahead of time.

Would let Tony Parker sleep with his wife
basically. It's where the complete file is being leeched from

The only servers BitTorrent makes use of are trackers. Seeds are users who have the whole file and offer pieces of it to leechers (other users who do not yet have the complete file).

The thing in the middle is a seed. Someone is hosting a complete copy of the file for the other users.

Don't go into your presentation without a better idea of how BT works. Someone in your audience might actually know and call you on it. Read: http://www.halm.us/bthq/btfaq.html

seed is the RIAA/MPAA. When you see them disconnect right away for they will get you and sue your ass.

No problem.

Mugen: Actually, they don't have to be a seed to nail you. BT doesn't bother to mask anyone's IP address. Depending on the client you use (such as BitTornado), you can get a list of the IPs on the torrent that your client can currently see. This can be done by all users, even if you are just a leecher. All the lawyers have to do is get logs from the ISP that show who had that IP at that time. Of course, that may not actually be logged, it depends on the ISP, their software and their willingness to work with the corporate gestapo.
