What are you listening to?

I've listened to nothing but the Decemberists new one for the last week. Haven't gotten sick of it yet, but I do take the occasional break to listen to Okkervil River's "Down the River..." record, which is criminally underrated.

Just picked up the new M83 and am going to give that a listen. Their slogan should be "They make MBV's absence almost trivial!"

Skinnyman (council estate of mind) - amazing uk rapper, any hip-hop fans should check it out.
I've heard things about him. Is he better than Klashnekoff?

Anyway I'm listening to
Herbie Hancock - Head Hunters

Trail of Dead's Worlds Apart (good stuff!)

Jimmy Chamberlain Complex - Life Begins again (listened to half of it so far, sounds pretty good - Jimmy Chamberlin was trained first as a Jazz drummer, and you can see the influence on several tracks. Definitely worth checking out)

I had no idea new M83 is out - how is it? Compared to Dead Cities..?

The new M83 after my first listen? Initial thoughts are that it's on par with Dead Cities, but I think it's going to get wayy more mileage than Dead Cities ever got with me, and that's saying alot. "Don't Save Us From the Flames" and "Teen Angst" are HOT.

Today I listened to
Talk Talk - Laughing Stock & Spirit Of Eden *for lifting up some spirits in the morn*
Bearsuit - Cat Spectacular *uk twee-pop-rock-squeeking shit that makes me smile*
Embrace - Out Of Nothing *trying to get into this but failing*
Feist - Let It Die *can't get into this either, but nice voice*
Yoko Ishida - Negai aka Ah, My Goddess! TV ED *jpop fix for today*

Right now listening to tech-house cover of EBTGs 'Each and Everyone' by Ada *nice one*
Also having new Sam Prekop and Scott Walker albums on heavy rotation these days.
...and that's about it :P

I've been cycling through a lot of my favorite albums from the mid 90s, all that stuff I picked up when I first started paying attention to music.

The Dresden Dolls - The Dresden Dolls. Completely random find, and probably the first album in ages that I've just had on repeat for a long time.

(Also, because I am a dork and post on a videogame message board on the internet I was spinning both the Katamari soundtrack and the MGS3 soundtrack before the Dolls.)

Hmmm... I may have to investigate this M83 stuff. I've been listening to lots of J&MC and MBV lately...

But what I listened to today:

Bright Eyes - Live @ State Theatre, Minneapolis MN, 01/15/05 ('cos I couldn't attend)
This Moment in Black History - Midwesterncuttalistick
Racebannon - Satan's Kickin' Your Dick In
The Icarus Line - Mono ("Love is Happiness" fucking tears my face off)

And I arrived to work with the Bright Eyes vinyl box set & the Christmas record sitting on my desk from a friend as a thank you for introducing her to them/birthday gift. Hot! I'm too lazy to listen to anything on my turntable, though, so, hmmm... I guess I'll listen to that live show again.

I just put in the new Trail of Dead. What the hell happened??

I'm willing to give it some time, but upon first listen to the first half of the album, I'm hugely disappointed. The title track literally makes me cringe.

over and over and over again.
Only old Daft Punk jams here. :(

I'm also listening to some Boards of Canada and Splashdown stuff. Any Splashdown fans here? I came across their stuff by accident recently and have been listening ever since.

M.I.A. - Arular
M.I.A vs Diplo - Piracy funds Terrorism

The new Daft Punk is all right. It's better than Discovery but that's not saying much.

My girlfriend's sister Jun playing Dynasty Warriors 4: Empires right beside me.

Gotta love thrashy guitar!

Trancin' Through the Wilderness (Golden Axe remix)
