Really want to see Atmosphere next month at Bowery, mid-terms and PSP value packs may make this hard.

Wait...Doug Martsch. Built to Spill? How's that album?

It's really good. It's not like Built to Spill at all. Doug goes all delta-bluesy on it. Very nice record. It still has some nice, sharp guitar work on it. Don't go in expecting Built to Spill, and you'll be keen. He was trying to do a singer-songwriter album, and it worked to an extent. It's not super brillaint, but it's a good listen. Rock as influenced by Iron & Wine (when he first hit the scene -- that Doug Martsch album is nigh 2 years old. It was my AOTY I think for that year).

Built to Spill are boring live :(

I'm really loving it so far, if your a fan of Built to Spill i'm sure you'll dig it. Same voice, awesome guitarwork, it's missing some of the complex layering that we get with the whole band, but it's just as well produced as the BtS releases.

White man is right about it being quite a bit different, not exaclty acoustic BtS, just a familar voice over some really neat guitar.

It's okay so far. It's been reported that it has 33 songs, but I wouldn't classify a bunch of them as songs, more interludes than anything else. "Now You're Really Living" is fun and there are some other good Eels-esque songs, but it's no Electro Shock.

My drunken playlist for the evening:

1. Johnny Cash, "Man in Black"
2. Bonnie "Prince" Billy & Matt Sweeney, "What are you?"
3. Kings of Leon, "Red Morning Light"
4. Pixies, "Monkey gone to heaven"
5. Pixies, "Debaser"
6. Pogues, "Body of an American"
7. Pogues, "Streams of Whiskey"
8. Clash, "Rudie can't fail"
9. Clash, "Jimmy Jazz"

That's all I've listened to since the dog shooting stopped outside.

Cool album, not usually what I'd listen to. I'd seen the video for Galang on TV here a few months ago and it sounded like a bit of a guilty pleasure song. The album is kind of like that I guess.

As long as it's about as good as Souljacker, I'll be happy. Shootenanny! was awful.

lately to a lot of Peter, Paul, and Mary (Blowin' in the Wind, Puff the Magic Dragon, Leaving on a Jet Plane) and especially Judy Collins (Someday Soon, In My Life, Who Knows Where the Time Goes?)...

I also have started realizing how much American Idiot (album) rocks, I'd only listened to "Time or Your Life" from Greenday before (only song that appealed to me, although I've had limited exposure to pre-Blink pop punk), but after all the hoopla this album was getting I listened to a few songs and now have like 1/2 the album on my playlist...

No JC Complex? :(

I saw it at the record shop, but honestly, it didn't interest me. Maybe I'll pick it up when I see it cheap or used or something. Just bought a Gamecube and have been getting all the games I wanted to play on it, so I had to limit my recent CD purchases.

On a NIN spree after watching the With Teeth Trailer. Can't fuckin' wait.

Of course there's always Kid A, Amnesiac, and The Bends by Radiohead, and Pinkerton & Blue from Weezer, all which are on constant rotation on iTunes.
