As for top-secret suggestions, I think the new album from As One & Kirk Degiorgio, Elegant Systems, is really, really good.
yep, i did a blind buy on that after your suggestion. it's very good.
also, i take back my praise about virgin megastore, their electronic section sucks (what electronic section?). indie rock they got covered though.

la foret, another day on earth

i'm trying to form impressions of the two. maybe it's just my mood right now, but i think both are just too subdued. the albums have their highlights, but i don't know...

I kind of agree, but I really haven't listened to La Foret in a while. I'm hoping that I'll listen to it again during release and fall in love with it.

I honestly didn't expect the follow-up to Fabulous Muscles to be as good as their previous material, but it would be nice if it did. Something like Xiu Xiu can't possibly last indefinitely, and I think they reached the limits of their sonic terrain on their last album and the singles/splits that followed. La Foret is definitely good, but it doesn't have an OMG GOOD song like Apistat Commander, I Luv the Valley, Suha, or Jennifer Lopez.

The good news is that the Ten in the Swear Jar collection is out either this month or next. That material is excellent, for the most part. If they could do a decent job of remastering it, it could be Xiu Xiu quality.

EDIT: Eno. . .early impressions - The album is front-loaded. The first couple of songs are great, but then he goes into mostly textural territory. Not a bad thing, per se, but this waws being hyped as his big return to vocal albums. I would've listened to it more but I got a Violent Femmes boner and it's not going away.

Everything's been boring and uninteresting lately. It's rather depressing.

I kinda missed the boat on this one when it came out. I was a bit scared it would be terrible, but it's pretty fucking good.

It's still fucking classic from beginning to end.

What is this? It's electronic I'm certain, but as I'm not familiar with the series or artist, I'm curious where this falls.

Come on -jinx- and co., spill the beans on whatcha listening to! I need a new CD this week:)

Cattaneo is a DJ from Argentina, and he plays a lot of tribal/deep progressive type stuff. Pretty similiar to someone like a Danny Howells or John Digweed circa 2001-2002. If you're into that type of music, it's a good choice, based on the time I spent listening to it. tetsuoxb from this board is a real life acquaintance of the guy.

Holy shit, this CD is amazing. Why is there always an SFA album that's able to surprise me? I guess it's got something to do with the fact that the band's fucking everywhere when it comes to style.

They're fucking chameleons. From sampling an insignificant bit from Steely Dan's "Showbiz Kids" on "The Man Don't Give a Fuck" to just fucking destroying my ears with "Guacamole", Ramones violently thrown together with Nintendo music, they're everywhere, and with skill.

Oh yeah, definitely. Much as I love the continuous mashup mixes I've been downloading over the past couple months, they're not usually as consistent and well done as this one. Now I'm wondering about the others in this series...

Is it really that good? I've heard "A Little Bit More" and "When I Come Back Around," I like the former,, and the latter is prretty good but it seems a bit.. uh.. contrived. I keep hearing that this album is awesome, is it worth a go?
