Stereo Nasty's Twisting the Blade
Was looking for a good album this year and just decided to check up on Stereo Nasty and found this. I'm not sure if it's as good as their last album, but it's definitely good.

Right now I'm listening to Jamila Wood's HEAVN. I might have known about this last year, but ignored it. If I knew Jamila Woods was the same woman from Milo & Otis I would've listened to it. It looks like it was taken down online. Can't find anywhere to buy this. Kind of weird to go from listening to heavy metal to this huh?

Aurora - All My Demons Greeting Me As Friends

First it started when I came across Aurora's cover of Massive Attack's 'Teardrop,' which is honestly far better than the original, in my opinion.

This then led me to her song 'Winter Bird,' which seriously got me addicted to her sound.

From there I went after the whole album. It's absolutely incredible. Also, 'Black Water Lilies' is probably one of the most pleasing songs I've ever heard in my life; it's like dessert for your ears.

And oh yeah, her live performances are pretty remarkable as well. I'd absolutely suggest taking a look at a few of them.

Yes, I'm listening to music too! Music is nice.

Was gonna' mention that, but that seems to be the title going back multiple months, so I thought it was cute enough to not point out. Plus, the title may be what was actually intended.

Not too much recently. Busy.

Right at this moment I'm listening to Silencer - Death, Pierce Me. Depressive black metal.

Otherwise I was listening a lot to the The Beatles - White Album

Little bit of the Persona 4 and 5 soundtracks.

I'm STILL listening to the Hamilton Soundtrack

I stopped listening to new music after DAMN. disappointed. Maybe some Spor here and then.

I need a new Yeezy season to get going.

Found some pretty good shit today. Been listening to the following: Album covers linked.

Hempress Sativa's Unconquerebel is a really good Reggae album. I haven't listened to some new reggae in a long ass time and this filled that quench. It has that vibe that I remember from the 90s and early 2000s era. Reggae doesn't seem to get much play anymore. I've stopped listening the hip-hop station here years ago, but when I pass other people who are playing new music it's never Reggae. And Boom is lit as fuck. Fight for Your Rights is woke!

Chronixx's Chronology is pretty good too. I listened to him in the past, but had stopped keeping up with him. I've listened to a few tracks so far. I got the rest to finish listening to tomorrow. Chronixx still has that very joyous island feel to his music that I love.

Ravyn Lenae's Moon Shoes is a wonderful accident I came across. Apparently she featured on Noname's Telefone from last year. I wasn't on my game last year so this bypassed me. I probably would have found this last year if I was paying attention. I'm not sure what the genre is, but this shit is superb.

She also has an EP out this year, but truth be told, I ain't feeling it. I listened to it first and was going to bypass her until I saw this sick ass album cover. That's a damn good album cover. The yellow letters on Midnight remind me of Ocarina of Time notes.

Finishing up Denai Moore's We Used to Bloom right now. This shit is beautiful. Definitely one of the best of the year so far! I'm not sure about the genre on this either, but it doesn't matter. This album cover is pretty pretty too. Denai has some beautiful hair on here, my god! Goals honey, Goals!

Can y'all comment on like specifics of your music? I feel like maybe we'd get more replies if the majority of y'all talked a bit about the music instead of just dropping pictures of album covers with no links.

Sure. In my post there's mainly electronic albums that have been released this month and last. It's all worth checking out if you like to dig into things a little less well known.

In order I have:
Avey Tare - Eucalyptus The cofounder dude from Animal Collective who has now released his second solo album. It's pretty whacky and you'll enjoy it if you're a dirty hipster like me.

Daphni - FABRIC 93 Also known as Caribou this is this dudes dance music alias. Some incredibly crunchy rhythms that are so wide on the speakers I feel like i'm getting lost in between.

Florian Kupfer - Post Present - Russian guy who makes dope underground house.

Greenspan & Tarava - Dude from Junior Boys who also produces for Jessy Lanza does a short collab here with Taraval (Caribou affiliated). Kinda mutant rhythms with Greenspans signature bounce to his music that I love. Here's the highlight track

Hippie Priest - See it Through New young producer, sounds pretty kewl

Karen Gwyer - Rembo Experimental house producer incorporates more dancefloor rhythms on this one. She's gone mostly hardware based with producing this one i think. Really dope.

Lake Haze - Love in Lux - Dope underground house

Ploy - Intrigued by the Drum Batu has a newish record label called Timedance which is one of the best in dance music atm. Really worth checking out everything on it.

Rhye - Please Soulful whatever. Quite good

Road Hog - On the Lam Alias of Galcher Lustwerk. Shits good, originally released in 2015. Good driving music.

Shanti Celeste - Make Time Beautiful house music, i'm seriously in love with this. She provides subtle vocal inflections to the first track which add a lot. FAV

Sophia Kennedy - S/T On DJ Koze's label Pampa Records. This is a solo singer/songwriter album which is new for the label. It's possibly my AOTY, some great songs here.

SW. & SVN - Untitled Amazing shit from SUED. I wish I could make stuff like this.

Untold - HEK029 Adventurous club explorations

Yaeji - Feel it out Rising producer who is quickly becoming a fav.

I've been trying to listen to more non-90s rap, and stumbled on Brockhampton. Saturation is great, but also far enough out of my Wu-Tang-esq comfort zone to feel like I'm expanding my rap horizons a bit. Fame is my favorite track, but most are good (and a few have a nice, laid back, almost R&B kind of feel to them).

This music video by Bonobo is something else (plus I'm a huge fan of chet faker/nick murphy):

Otherwise I've been bingeing Bon Iver's "For Emma, Forever Ago". It's the right atmosphere and makes me feel so relaxed and wanting for more.
It really encapsulates my ideal atmosphere into music. I imagine rural woods, or farm lands overlooking golden fields of wheat with a peaceful breeze. Most of the album is calm, but at times has a youthful, excited energy to it.

My bad, I think you just pointed out why I shouldn't keep posting in these threads since I'm too lazy to explain what I'm listening to.

In the future we communicate not through words, but .pngs and lossless .gifs.

But ok I'll bite; for the sake of making this feel more like a community thing..

I've had a re-interest in math rock stuff, so checked out some folks from the RIO movement (Rock in Opposition) and had some pleasant jams as a result. One of the records was Batelages from French rock group Etron Fou Leloublan (as seen above) who were one of the foundational bands of that school. That said they all sort of blend together if you're not listening hard enough -- like math, with enough depth there begins to be little distinction between all the numbers and variables. Still unsure if that's a limitation or utility.

I just finished listening to Creature!. Nitty Scott MC was among my favorite underground artists with 2014's The Art of Chill and her mixtapes, but I was worried about this before it came out because of Nitty's tracks leading up to this were dropping in quality in regards to flow and lyrics. This isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, but shit I don't fuck with it. Like other artists I followed she transitioned into adopting the style of the main populace with those copy and paste flows, auto-tune, and weak beats. It's not entirely bad, I do like the beat on "La Diaspora", thought "Sara Baartman" was okay, the actual verses on "Write!" were decent and contained a couple of notable lyrics: "I like men and girls too. No, I ain't confused I like them both." I'm glad she added that. Some negroes be saying bisexual women are immature or don't know what they want. Had a couple of friends in college who used to say that shit.

Nitty Scott MC made some great shit before, but this isn't it. I also noticed she dropped the MC part from her name. I guess that makes sense since there's not much emceeing on this album.

5/10.

Junun by Shye Ben Tzur, Jonny Greenwood and the Rajasthan Express

So far, so good. A frantic yet measured hybridization of rock and traditional Indian twang, this is what I came via Greenwood's multi-instrumental flairs for.

Not out for another month but their new single, Strangest Thing, is fantastic. This has a good chance to be my album of 2017.

I've been listening to Less Than a lot and didn't even realize the full EP was coming out so soon. A lot better than NtAE, excited for part 3.

Only really cared for All I Think About Is You and Something Just Like This but today I'm talking about the Markus Dravs Remix of ALIENS, give it a listen if you haven't yet.

The Stooges, MDC, Circle Jerks, Off!, The Clash, Iggy Pop, Gorillaz, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, The Weirdos, The Zeros, The Who, MF DOOM.

The usual really.

Checked Ravyn Lenae out on a lark, thanks to this post. Definitely dig her work!
