I mean there's not really downsides, and it does reduce spread of covid, so why not? And for those that doubt this, anywhere that has solid mask usage (incl covering nose) has less cases. Admittedly, mass gatherings also add a ton of cases and that isn't stopping people.
I don't understand why wearing masks is "sheep" and not wearing masks is "freedom." You could also argue that following the anti-mask crowd you are in fact sheep as well. And if you think not wearing a mask is freedom, then by that idealogy, seatbelts, helmets, hell even pants would follow the same logic but I don't see a bunch of naked people driving around w/out seatbelts (unfortunately).
Other benefits, though. Now that winter is upon us, those walks in the cold wind, ya a mask on helps a lot. I didn't generally leave it on when I was outside not around anyone, unless I was just being too lazy to take it off if I was between places, but now that is it is fucking cold outside, I leave it on for the warmth, but this shouldn't come as a surprise for anyone since wearing things on your face to keep it warm when in the cold isn't exactly a new idea.
