What can I do about a scratched PSP screen?

Don't say rub toothpaste on it. ;)

I got a few scratches right in the middle of my screen. They're pretty annoying so I want to get another face plate. Does anyone here know if there are any places that sell replacements online?

I really don't want to send it to Sony because they'll probably update my firmware but, if I end up having to, does anyone know if they'll fix my 2 dead pixels too?

Soft cloth + Novus 2 (special plastic polish), then follow up with Novus 1 (on a new cloth) and then stick a protector on it!

I think you forgot the "switch units and then return the scratched one" part; but I could be wrong and don't acquiesce any such action.
Woah! Sony is exchanging new PSP units for ones that are scratched by the consumer??? Have they changed their customer service?

Have you tried that stuff? Are you sure it's safe?

Sure. I have it. It's used pretty extensively to polish pinball plastics. The trick is not to use an abrasive cloth like a paper towel or russian toilet paper to buff it. If you're concerned, try a tiny corner first, and do not rub too hard.

There isn't a retailer out there now that will do that anymore. White seal on the systems pretty much makes that impossible unless you are super careful and lucky.

Also compound the fact that almost every retailer also records the serial of the PSP upon purchase....

Don't forget that the screen for the PSP is basically the entire front plate of the unit, meaning the only way you can replace it is to open up the PSP (which instantly voids your warranty if you're worried about dead pixels) and replace the upper half of the case.

You should have got a screen protector, dood.

Same problem here, i had a screen protector but somehow it detached from the screen the moment i put my psp in its pouch, resulting in a million tiny scratches.

I don't mind voiding the warranty (i imported it anyway) if i can find new faceplates to replace the original one.
It's too bad sony didn't think of making the faceplate removable, they would have sold thousands of them...Hopefully, third parties' will be available soon, in the meantime i'll try with Novus :)

I just got my psp, and I missed the screen protector threads. I'd like to get one before it needs it. Does anyone have a particular model to recommend?
