What could Microsoft show at E3 to finally get you to buy an Xbox One?

Phil Spencer would have to "disown" everyone that had anything to do with the original Xbox One concept. Talk about how he's in charge now and it's going to be about games and how he's going to invest in first party studio's rather than third party money hats. Give those 1st party devs creative freedom and create unique new IPs.

They will have to get rid of the Kinect and drop the price by at least 100 dollars (preferably 150) and take out all the multi-media features that are locked behind XBLG.

Then hire as many old Rare guys as you can and make Banjo Kazooie 3.

The first paragraph is extremely petty and never going to happen, I also don't see what you would gain from it. Ballmer, mattrick and whitten are gone mattrick being the biggest problem IMO, not sure if Marc whitten was even a problem but Phil spencer has already said he's a games man and that's what he will be focusing on as that's what Xbox is to him.

Microsoft have already opened new studios and I think they will expand again but only 1 of their new studios has actually shipped something (project spark) so they will wait a bit before doing so again. I highly doubt they will stop working with developers they don't own as they can publish some great games for the platform with other partners, gears, fable, mass effect, ryse, pgr, state of decay, Alan wake and hopefully sunset overdrive and quantum break all examples of games made with studios they didn't own when they launched (ME obviously going to ea), they won't stop that and neither do I want them too personally.

I don't disagree with the apps behind paywall bit, from the point of view of why they originally did it I can see why but it's 2014 and they need to fix it. kinect well, I can't say I use it for games but I really like the voice commands a lot, if you really don't want it that much then ms should offer a bundle without kinect.

There are at least 2 if not more of the main guys behind banjo still at rare btw.

Nothing I can realistically expect. I'm going to play my multiplatform games on my PS4 and I'm generally not interested in MS's current slate of exclusives.

It also depends on whether this is buying one this year, or buying one eventually. This year has no hope at all. I'd need to see some JRPGs, but the problem is even if MS focused on that I would have trouble believing JPRGs would last on the system after what happened with the 360. They made a serious push and it withered away as soon as the contracts ran out. Even if they started showing exclusive JRPGs, I have trouble believing that would last because Japan doesn't want Xbox.

Eventually is a better prospect. If they put out an exclusive here and there over the years I could grab one when the price has gone down. It's basically where I am with the Wii U, just waiting for the exclusive games to be worth the price of the system. The Xbox is a freaking chasm on that front, however. If I were to name the value I'd put on the current exclusives I'd be accused of trolling.

I don't mean this to be an insult to Xbox fans, it's just that the kinds of games I want and the kinds of exclusives MS tends to get are not the same.

I'll be snagging a PS4 and Wii U first, but I'm definitely looking into an Xbone down the line for Killer Instinct and Halo (both the rumored 2 remake and the one they showed at last E3). If we get a $100 less, Kinect-less SKU, they've ensured they'll get my money sooner rather than later. Of course, if hell freezes over and they announce a new Banjo-Kazooie (that has absolutely nothing to do with Kinect), I'll buy a 'Bone day and date with that game.

If they somehow manage to snag another Tales game (which I very much doubt will ever happen again after Vesperia), that will also ensure a faster purchase.

- Quantum Break. I still don't feel like I know anything about this, besides the intentionally absurd TV/game premise. Remedy makes some astonishing stuff, so if this is really impressive - it could look good.
- Alan Wake. Keeping on the Remedy love train, the announcement of a new (exclusive) AW would be the biggest selling point imaginable for me. The only MS-exclusive franchise(?) I can honestly say I love.
- Third party exclusives. Specifically- Just Cause 3, Sleeping Dogs 2, or Beyond Good and Evil 2. If any of those end up behind Microsoft's Dead Rising 3-esque resurrection protocol - they might have me.
- Crackdown 3 looks incredible. Never played a Crackdown, but I think it'd fall into my wheelhouse. If Crackdown 3 is really impressive.. maybe now's the time.

Already have it, and have been using the thing nicely, but please let rareware do stuff with their IPs. AT LEAST let someone else use them like with KI.

Don't think there is any one thing. I play on PC and I'll be buying a PS4 if Project Beast materializes, a good start would be removing Kinect and lowering the price. The Kinect just wouldn't work with the way I've got things set up here around my desk. Removing alot of the Apps from XBL Gold would be good too, and finally some exclusives (fresh games, and not ones that are paid to be kept off other systems) that interest me.

Nothing at this E3. I'm just not that interested, and the price to power ratio doesn't help either. In theory a $400 kinectless SKU still doesn't do it for me.

Honest speaking? Nothing, Xbone never did get my interest when it was announced and am not interested for their coming E3 either. Even if they attained exclusivity on Shemue III for example, I still wouldn't turn my back on SONY. Been with SONY for 13 years now, all I ever need is the kind of games that PlayStation has put out since the age of console gaming begin. I have great faith in SONY that they will deliver the games I need/want in this generation as well :)

Alan Wake 2 would bring me closer than anything else. I've played the first one several times; I can't get enough. Even then, I wouldn't go out and buy the console the day it was announced. Microsoft really doesn't have the exclusives that interest me.

Literally nothing. I was so offended by their initial anti-consumer policies, their first party titles aren't compelling, and PS4 has better multiplats.

Literally. Nothing.

That list just makes me want to cry it's so beautiful

Indeed!

For me, it's what can Sony show me to say "I know you are going to buy one eventually, but this should speed up that decision for you!" Exclusive "Souls" game, VF or completely exclusive Sega/Atlus Jrpg will definitely do it.

A big price cut. I won't pay more for an X1 than I did for my PS4. Also, drop he BS paywalls, and implement a PS+ like system instead of the current GWG. Finally show 3 or so new IPs so that they prove they're committed to creating new content and not just rehashing the same stuff again

All in all I doubt this is going to happen but hey, one can hope. More realistically I think they'll just do a $100 price cut, announce another Halo, another Forza, maybe tease another Gears and show off games we already know about like SO and QB, along with the regular CoD. I think it's going to be rather disappointing

Wait they would half to show three new ips coming out this year cause that's just unrealistic.

It will be hard, but MS can try:
- $299 w/ Kinect (the price pretty much the rule I have for every console I buy)
- Hardware revision
- Phantom Dust 2 / Halo 2 HD & other exclusives
- Gold needs to have better value...
- Respect their customers

360 was the only console I have purchased at $399. And I still remember all the hardware failures with that machine on top of the craps MS tried to pull with Xbone last year. It's very clear they have no respect for their customers so they will have to work extra hard before I consider buying another Xbox.

I get you, but my thing is even tho MS didn't have a lot Japanese down the line the ones did have were my fav from last gen (seen by the Picture). Because of that I look more forward to what they have more then Sony.

I want an Xbone, but only if I get H2 with full multiplayer intact. Button glitches included. So..

-H2 with full multiplayer, not running off H4 engine
-Lower price point
-Emphasis on creative, GOOD games, a la Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare
-Gears & Halo 5 going the right direction
-No Kinect. I don't want a kinect. I won't use a kinect. I don't want to talk to my Xbone to get it to do something, I'd rather use my thumbs and the controller. It is a needlessly expensive piece of hardware that serves no purpose for me, with 0 killer apps requiring it.

I'm a multiplayer guy and will probably just get one for Plants vs Zombies and an H2 remake, but the rest would be nice too.

Frankly, I can see no scenario where I would be buying an Xbox One during the next two-three years. I am short on time as it is, and I have a backlog with games like Red Dead Redemption, L.A. Noire, half of Skyrim and two latest Batman games.

Last generation I owned all three, but in retrospect, I would have been perfectly happy with owning just the PS3. Missing Crackdown would have stung a little, if I had known how much fun it was but were not able to play it, but other than that, pretty much every single game that did anything to me was on PS3.

This generation I see the situation being even more heavily skewed towards Playstation. I hate the obsessive buying of great games to just collect dust, so I will solve the problem by only owning the most essential platforms. For me, that means Playstation and PC. And I am as content as I could be.

Maybe the situation will change when I retire some time around 2040.

A price drop, without dropping kinect. When I do buy an xboxone I want a kinect with it. That being said I also want Halo 2 HD remake (which looks like its coming with all the rumors)

A single exclusive that I can't ignore.

Titanfall did nothing to pick my interest because I never really cared for COD. I would LOVE to play Below, but it is coming on PC so I won't have to spend 400 bucks to play it.

Quantum Break is a possibility, but I'm skeptical. I would buy a Bone tomorrow if a new Alan Wake was announced at E3.

Question they are both made by Remedy why are you skeptical of QB, but would buy a X1 instantly for Alan Wake 2 just curious

I honestly can't think of anything that could make me buy a Bone right now. I was happy to leave off with Halo and Gears of War after the completion of their respective trilogies and their original developers have moved on to other things. Beyond that there isn't really anything exclusive coming that interests me.

I guess what I'm saying is, surprise me at E3 MS.

Drop the paywall for online multiplayer.
Stop being so dudebro focused and let Rare off the leash again.

Failing all that they could have made the xbone backwards compatible with the 360 and I would have got one to replace the 360 but they didn't so I need more reasons to get one now (especially since it can't top the ps4 in performance).

Three incredible exclusives would put it on my "eventually off of Craiglist" list. With the rumored P* exclusive, it probably needs two more. The Vita is next on my list no matter what, as PS+ has given me a huge library to play on it.

A new brightly colored singleplayer only AAA game aimed at all ages, but Microsoft rarely make games like that, so the next best thing would be a new Perfect Dark, Banjo or Crackdown in that order. Unfortunately, Perfect Dark has about 0% chance of happening, because they already think they have that genre covered :(

Nothing. The only Microsoft platform I'm interested in is PC. Xbox doesn't have any exclusives that I care about. The only thing they could do to make me happy is support PC again and bring back some of their RTS IPs.
