What could Microsoft show at E3 to finally get you to buy an Xbox One?

The Titanfall bundle hit $424 at Target with one year XBL. To me #1 was hit shortly after that bundle appeared. 2 and 3 are on the money.

It has to be all of it for me for the most part, not one or two of those things. Price drop + exclusives I care about (which is not Titanfall) + drop the paywalls. I'm more than happy with my PS4 so no buy until they at least do all these things. Even at the $400 or $350 msrp I would never actually pay that amount. I'd actually only pay no more than $350 or so with Kinect.

Or if they made it about $300 with Kinect and exclusives, but kept the paywalls, I'd seriously consider it at that point. I'd still use the PS4 for Netflix/multi plats and everything else aside from exclusives though.

Having Money.

I really liked their last conferences, specially their build conference. I believe their software will be the top one for the next 3-4 years for sure.

This year? It'd had to be something incredible to make me forego purchasing a PS4. When will I jump in? After it reaches $299, or a $349 Slim Edition (and if it has DVR capability that would make it a very tempting Birthday present to myself).

2-3 big first party exclusives releasing within a year
mind blowing Kinnect + VR demo
new Kinnect blockbusters
price drop to $350 or $400 "value"

A significant price drop that still bundles Kinect in addition to a solid showing of what is on the horizon for the system. I'd also like to see some sort of revamp of the XBL service to make it more valuable.

edit: A brand new AAA IP would be pretty neat as well.

To shell out 400 euro for a single game it either has to be an exclusive action rpg that is a (spiritual) succesor to Vagrant story, a UbiArt engine IDA castlevania or suikoden 6.

Phil Spencer would have to "disown" everyone that had anything to do with the original Xbox One concept. Talk about how he's in charge now and it's going to be about games and how he's going to invest in first party studio's rather than third party money hats. Give those 1st party devs creative freedom and create unique new IPs.

They will have to get rid of the Kinect and drop the price by at least 100 dollars (preferably 150) and take out all the multi-media features that are locked behind XBLG.

Then hire as many old Rare guys as you can and make Banjo Kazooie 3.

Well at least you aren't asking for much.

All I need is a price drop and games with gold announced as a decent alternative to PS+, and I'll get a xbox one. I just love the exclusives.

I will buy an Xbox One in a heartbeat when they open every unit up to be a devkit, as promised. This won't happen at E3 though. I don't expect it before DX12 is being launched next year to be honest.

Not sure. This thing isn't even out where i live.. It was delayed for functionality i don't care for.
Basicly it's seems like a nice machine for american people who watch lots of tv and love to shout at their tv.

Honestly, i don't see MS winning me over to ever buy one at this point. But great great exclusive games might convince me.
It's weird how they fucked up, cause i loved my 360 last gen. For a long time it was my most played console.

I have PS4, WiiU & gaming PC (getting on a bit now though), i loved my X360 & am still playing it, more so than my PS4 due to me having many more games for it that i have not yet finished.

I don't really know what they could show to make me run out & by a X1, i really liked Forza Horizon & the other Forza games, however Forza 5 seems to be a bit of a let down, but that being said, there is nothing MS could show to tempt me other than the power of the cloud actually showing off twice/three times the power of a X1 with a actual game, other than them doing that the only other thing to get me to run out & buy a X1 is for a price cut to £200 including Kinect.

I have switched sides this 8th-Gen, sorry MS but you have lost me, i have a Kinect for my X360 & it added nothing, zero, pointless & you put me off with the DRM controls even though you changed your minds, the damage was already done & also the seemingly endless DLC & passes for games like Forza 5 i have already mentioned, the real killer was the focus on TV interaction & media, this seems to be a very American-centric viewpoint & console, Sony said the PS4 was for games first & this is what i want a games console to do.

Show me a halo 2 anniversary with a full on multiplayer ( private matches included). If new game moeds like infection are added to the private games, I'll be more than happy and most likely will be stuck on that gane for most of the holiday season.

I already own one. But the drought is coming up and the only game i'm interested in for most of the summer (unless gtav remaster is announced) is watchdogs. And I'm getting that for ps4. But seriously, halo 2 anniversary would glue me to my xbox one for a good few months. Don't mess it up.

I'll be getting one at some point towards the end of the gen, but for me to buy one earlier than that it''d take exclusive ff7 or shenmue 3

First thought: "Nothing. I'm too devoted to Nintendo/Sony"

Second thought: "Awesome looking Banjo Kazooie and Conker games. Also Gunvalkyrie 2"

Tremendous price cut to $150. Ditto for Sony.

I hope nothing. I don't really want 3 consoles under my TV again. However, if they secure some quality Japanese games then they probably will get my money.

Price drop and Free Multiplayer/Internet app usage. I know it's not going to happen, but I'd probably end up buying one then ;)

£250
Remove Kinect
Invest in first party game development
Remove the ridiculous amount of tv bullshit
Remove the paywall for everything but multiplayer
Half the current size of the console

Purchase Polyphony Digital

Only Alan wake from what they have available.

Or a new IP.

I mean if they have Forza Horizon 2 BUT make it so that it is truly open world eith a large and varied world then I will be excited.

( By true open world I mean no barriers. In FH you were limited to the roads and a few off roads they chose for you, I want it to be like the crew and test drive unlimited, where you can drive anywhere)

A good selection of triple A 1st or 3rd party exclusives for me I.P.s. Not hd remakes, not sequels (except a 9 or 10 out of 10 Halo).

Then be significantly cheaper.

1. I want either a new Banjo Kazooie game (plays like the original) or a straight up remake of the original.
2. Alan Wake 2
3. A really well done Halo or Gears game might convince me to give in. Fable could do it too. Obviously these games are in development but that doesn't mean they will be good enough games to convince me to finally buy an Xbox One. Gears of War: Judgement was just ok at best and Fable 3 was pretty crappy. 2 wasn't very good either. Still love the original though for the most part.
4. Something totally new that is exclusive to Xbox One that hasn't been unveiled yet. So far the only Xbox One exclusive "new" game that has me interested is Quantum Break and I'm not even entirely sold on that yet.

I've so far have been completely underwhelmed with both Xbox One and PS4. First generation where I didn't buy the consoles at launch and I really have no interest in doing so now, six months later. Hopefully E3 will change that for me. I have to imagine the compelling games will eventually happen. It's just a baron wasteland for both consoles right now.

It's also worth noting that I have a capable PC so I usually only buy console exclusive games on a console system.

This E3? Nothing. There's basically nothing they can announce that would make me buy one. Why? Simply because the console is to expensive for what it offers. Compared to PS4 it's weaker, fewer and technically worse games at a steeper price tag. I could afford it but I'd rather invest my money in something I'd use more than for 3-4 titles.

However, if they show us a commitment in not milking Gears of War and Halo and start building healthy studios that are free to be creative I'll be happy. It will do the industry a lot of good.

New Banjo Kazooie
New Phantom Dust
New Shenmue
New Jet Set Radio
New Panzer Dragoon
New Burning Rangers
New Metal Wolf Chaos

GunValkyrie 2, Phantom Dust 2. and Otogi 3. They do that and I'll pay whatever the fuck they want for their underpowered console.

Phil Spencer would have to "disown" everyone that had anything to do with the original Xbox One concept. The first paragraph is extremely petty and never going to happen, I also don't see what you would gain from it. Ballmer, mattrick and whitten are gone mattrick being the biggest problem IMO, not sure if Marc whitten was even a problem but Phil spencer has already said he's a games man and that's what he will be focusing on as that's what Xbox is to him.

Microsoft have already opened new studios and I think they will expand again but only 1 of their new studios has actually shipped something (project spark) so they will wait a bit before doing so again. I highly doubt they will stop working with developers they don't own as they can publish some great games for the platform with other partners, gears, fable, mass effect, ryse, pgr, state of decay, Alan wake and hopefully sunset overdrive and quantum break all examples of games made with studios they didn't own when they launched (ME obviously going to ea), they won't stop that and neither do I want them too personally.

I don't disagree with the apps behind paywall bit, from the point of view of why they originally did it I can see why but it's 2014 and they need to fix it. kinect well, I can't say I use it for games but I really like the voice commands a lot, if you really don't want it that much then ms should offer a bundle without kinect.

There are at least 2 if not more of the main guys behind banjo still at rare btw.

The question was 'What can microsoft do?', so why are you going through point-by-point to tell the poster they're wrong? There's no place for it in this thread (see also: X has better games than Y and Z is dead, baby).

From my personal point of view, I don't like MS's big franchises and I don't like their vision of a machine that's more than a console (DNLA and Netflix is all I need in a console, and even they aren't necessary because I have numerous ways of accessing them) so they would have to come up with some compelling indie/arcade games in the store that I can't get on PC, PS4 and WiiU before they even get a sniff of my investment.

I've got a PS4, a Wii U, a gaming PC and the memory of how MS botched the latter years of the Xbox 360 with Kinect plus the same old exclusives. Really, there is no way MS could get me to buy a weak powered Xbox One just for a handful of exciting exclusives that are not Halo, Gears, Forza or Fable .

Another thing, the Xbox One is useless without an Xbox Live gold subscription. I already have PS+. I'm not going to buy a console and throw euros at an annual subscription for a service that has a fraction of what the US got and that I'm not going to use since the Xbox One will always be a secondary or tertiary console.

The Xbox One will never be a good deal for multi console owners.

Who doesn't want to buy an Xbox One: the thread.

OT: As an owner I really hope they bring back automatic sign it when I turn it on. I leave Kinect unplugged because those 3 infrared lights bug the hell out of me. The only reason I've ever used it was to say "Xbox Record That." Give me a record button command Microsoft.

MS really terrified me with the DRM stuff.
I am finding it hard to forget. I don't think I'll get an Xbox this generation, unless I can get it second hand somewhere.

There's nothing stopping me from getting one other than the fact that I needed to choose one console and right now PS4 looked better to me. I'll be getting an XB1 eventually. If MS were to announce a console/timed exclusive of Mass Effect or Fallout I'd be getting an XB1 sooner than anticipated.
