What did you see the first time you had sleep paralysis?

Never had terrors, or ‘seen things (or shapes/images but each to their own)

But had a spell for a few years, of waking up and being unable to move. My arms would be locked, my legs frozen. Sometimes I would be aware of the weight of the blanket on my chest and the heaviness involved in keeping my eyes open (or even expanding my chest to breathe)

I would have a perpetual fear, of something, but never what it was.

I would eventually start to be able to make small movements, with a lot of concentration and mental effort and I would become less anxious and settle (get up and flex, or get a drink, move around)

Thankfully This passed and I very, rarely ever wake like this now. But the first few times it happened (especially) and then in the first few seconds of consciousness it was an extreme panic and build up of anxiety.

It Genuinely felt like I was ‘locked in’ my body, but as a passenger and not in control

My fantasy is that my girlfriend was actually a young high school girl.
Aliens. I felt if I kept my eyes closed they would leave me alone and they did.

I've never had any visuals, and I've only experienced it a few times. Just been frozen.

I remember struggling to free myself on a couple of occasions. I tried to scream as loudly as I could to see if it would break the spell and that usually worked after some great effort, but when I heard the sound I eventually and actually made physically, it came out as a nearly silent grunt, lol.

im so terrified of this

the two times i almost/kind of had it were very brief. the first time i didnt see anything, i dont remember even opening my eyes, i just know that i couldnt move for a few seconds then i forced myself awake and sat up.

the second time i remember not looking right at it, but getting the idea in my peripheral vision of a skull with black hood grim reaper type of entity, and it was getting into my ear and talking or something, it got close to the point where i could almost feel it (like when people whisper in your ear and its kinda uncomfortable). i had the thought that if i was scared of it or showed my fear then it would only make it worse and i would start getting bad sleep paralysis regularly, so i just convinced myself to roll with it and laugh about in my head like it was no big deal. then i woke up after a few seconds and it hasn't happened since.

i wanna say it was like a half dream, half awake state, so maybe not real sleep paralysis, but it was just as fuckin scary

Not quite the same but I once got into this half sleeping state where I was aware of my surroundings and moved through the apartment while still having the mind of the dreaming me.

I dreamt I got cursed and the only way to lift it is to walk to the closet and put underpants on top of my head, back when I was living with my mother as a teenager and the closet was in the living room.

I got up, moved to the living room, took some underpants into my hands and that's when I noticed that lifting a curse like that wouldn't make sense.

This thread is fucked up, never experienced anything like that

I'm not sure I've ever had one, but there were two cases in which I woke up screaming my lungs out in fear with a huge sensation of not being able to breath.

The first one in my early teens and the dream was about a home invasion. I remember trying to run and scream in the dream but I couldn't move or make any sound, the thing is, the dream was first person and not third as most my dreams are, and I was in my bed just like I would be in real life.

The second one happened around 5 years ago and I think there's a higher chance of it being sleep paralizis tho I can't tell... I saw 2 shadow humanoids lurking through the door of my bedroom and I was seeing it through my eyes, first person, from the exact same angle I would when awake, there was also something about my mother but I don't know what. The strange thing is that they were already leaving as if they already did to me what they had to do.

I woke up screaming in complete desperation, my wife thought I was having a heart attack or something, lol.

I have a huge fear of aliens, the second o e was related to aliens somehow and I think it was triggered the the movie The 4th Kind. I don't even remembering that, hahaha.

One thing I thought about is if this wasn't a body reaction to wake me up... I used to snort a lot and had sleep apnea when younger, maybe it was the body unnable to breath waking me up from REM.

First time, nothing, just couldnt move body. Second time, saw a shadowy figure come of the window, crawling to get inside of it in my bedroom, with glowing red light outside like if it was an ambulance or something. There was a documentary on Netflix about sleep paralysis, and i panic totally knowing a lot of people seem to talk about a dark character, shadowy silhouette , and red light somewhere. Why a lot of us making these sleep paralysis, make a similar dream.

Yeah, I watched that documentary a while back. It's really unsettling for people who experience sleep paralysis.

I don't recall being paralyzed but i saw one of them shadow people crouching next to my bed staring at me.

Edit: I'm sure i've already told this story in here before but here it goes again.
I was sleeping on my side when i felt something hit me on my neck. Turned my body to see what it was, saw a shadow figure staring at me. It slowly vanished. I was 13.
It never happened again.

I've had sleep paralysis four times, maybe five times, but four that I can clearly remember

-First time I just faintly could hear my mom and sister talking in the living room while my door was like 97% closed, only enough to know it's not fully closed, and I felt like something paralyzed me, and I could not breathe. I yelled at what I thought was really loud, calling "Mom" but nothing, it was all in my mind that I was crying out for help I guess. My eyes were unable to open despite all my will to break from this 'lock' and I woke up breathless, like I had just barely surfaced up in time from a deep lake. The second time this happened I actually dreamed I was drowning in a lake and again woke up breathless, like my lungs were without oxygen for minutes. Both times I think I was sleeping on my back to some degree

-The second, third, and fourth times were the most interesting, but I'll admit they were the most traumatizing. Two of them felt 'demonic' and like something I had never experienced before and I hope to God I never have to again. I don't really care to go into too much detail, but I essentially 'heard' what might have been a frequency that was so piercing, that all I can describe it as is something that had me feeling like my very being/essence/soul was in jeopardy and I cried for God and said "Please God" "God" over and over again until I was freed from that horrendous experience. It was instinct that I chose those words. This didn't feel like a dream or a nightmare btw, it was like I was suspended in some reality I cannot describe when I felt and 'heard' that vicious sound. It was one of the worst things I've ever experienced. It didn't just feel like I was in danger, I KNEW I was in danger. I can't describe it well. I had at least one of those sleep paralysis incidences like that, with the 'screams' if I can even call that noise a scream...it felt like, imagine a scream, a piercing noise so loud that it caries over three cities or so, the noise is that loud and that piercing and high pitch. I swear it felt like I was about to lose my soul or some shit that night, trippy as fuck experience. I thought everybody was going to rush my door because I was screaming 'God' with all my might like my life and soul depended on it. I woke up startled, a bit clammy or sweaty I think, very alarmed and pretty frightened. After I waited nervously about 10-15 seconds and nobody came rushing my door I had realized it was sleep paralysis again. I think I read my notes on my ipod touch for as long as I could even though I pretty sleepy, and eventually I fell back asleep into rest again after idk maybe 20-40 min or so. I think

-(this is the 4th time) One time I woke up when the sun was very bright one morning, very early in the morning at like 5:15am or something, I caught a glimpse of something blue on top of me, no lie, sucking me off. Angled towards my left leg at an angle this entity 'performed' I guess was what it was doing. The moment I got a look at its skin complexion and face maybe even eyes I was already back to sleep in an instant. But I remembered what I saw, or what I believe I had seen. If I can try to recall what my intuition was telling me at the time when I had recalled what might have been the case that particular experience, I was tired and feeling so good like I was about to bust a fat fucking nut, I momentarily wake and look at the source of the pleasure and see the blue being, I can recall blue skin complexion, I can recall eyes of some sort that seemed ethereal as in otherworldly quality (not human or even close to) and it was all in the blur of a moment before I was back to sleep. I'll never know if that entity was real or not, but I swear it felt like reality, I don't think that was my mind imagining things, I swear, in the moment that I was awake/conscious to realize what situation I was in--it felt all too real

I can go into much more detail on the second / third sleep paralysis experience. I left out the dream portion that took place before calling upon God. All this happened, or at least I firmly believe it had happened and was reality. I'm trying to think back, for some reason I have a feeling that sleeping close by a window might have had something to do with these occurrences. There's no reason for me to be thinking that really, but I just realized that every time these took place, I was fairly close to a window or two while sleeping. Closed, locked, and blinded of course, but still, I was resting near one window or more nearby every time these sleep paralysis episodes took place

I think I've shared these before in a similar thread, but just wanted to share it again, gather my thoughts so I don't forget. Sleep paralysis is something else... wish we had more information on it than what we do now, but how do you research something that happens so rarely?

I was in an edgy teenage retard phase reading black magic books and stuff

I had my first (and only) episode, and saw a green figure that looked a lot like the old medieval paintings of demons, eg:

In all likelihood, the stuff I was reading got into my subconscious and that's why the sleep paralysis figure looked like this

but on the other hand maybe I did actually summon a demon whoops

Only had sleep paralysis once but I did not see anything. Though it was terrifying not having control over any of my limbs and I had an internal panic.

Didn't see anything the few times it happened, but my diaphragm would tense up and I could barely breathe. I learned after the first time that the way out is to go back to sleep and then open your eyes again.

I didn't have my eyes open but I heard something akin to whispering and breathing felt heavy. It was quite an interesting experience. I tried to induce it one more time but failed.

I remember that I dreamed that I was in the street, and it was sunset but immediately a figure of a skull appeared and I began to hear voices that whispered and were not understandable which increased in volume, until I could not move and only opened the eyes.

once I had 3 paralyzes in a week, I was used to it and calmed down

Many years ago, I was playing Skies of Arcadia in the living room, my sister came downstairs and said to me "Last night I couldn't move my body suddenly when I slept. And I struggled to open my eyes and when I finally managed to open it, I saw a figure standing beside me and I was praying really hard. I couldn't breathe and I was so scared but I kept praying and it finally went away and I could move my body again."

Both me and my sister used to sleep in the same room on seperate beds when we were kids. And I thought her story was just bollocks. Besides I was busy enjoying skies of Arcadia.

That night when I slept, for the first time in my life, I suddenly froze up and couldn't move my body at all. And when I opened up my eyes, I saw a figure dressed in red standing next to me and it was trying to lie on me. Even though I couldn't speak because my mouth was clamped shut, I freaking prayed as hard as possible and yelled for the devil to get the fuck away from me and slowly I was able to move my limbs again and my heart was beating so fast.

I was too scared to admit to my sister what happened.

Also, a few years years before that incident, (sis was 13, I was 8) my sister suddenly talked about being tested by the devil (we are catholics)... Idk why she did that and I can't remember what she said but I remember it spooking me. I was just 8 so very soon I forgot about what she said.

Just one or two days later, I was alone at home and I was walking to my parents bedroom to get my pillow, suddenly my eyes shut close and I could see 2 piercing blue orbs staring straight at me. I was so fucking scared and I just yelled Satan get lost many times and prayed several hail Marys before the blue orbs went away and I could open up my eyes again.

I remember it very clearly, the first time.

My bedroom door was wide open. I had no covers on the and a dark figure at the end of my bed was holding my right leg in the air.
Of course when I woke up a nervous wreck, my bedroom door was closed, the quilt was covering me and there was no dark figure at the end of my bed. But Jesus Christ it scared the hell out of me

Don't know about sleep paralysis but I saw a shadow person right next to my bed once. I already told this story here multiple times i guess.

The one time it happened to me was quick, and I’m not even sure it the real thing. But I was on my side and felt all tangled up, and there was what I imagine was a grim reaper figure looking entity getting closer and closer to the side of my face, but I couldn’t get a good look at it, only a peripheral of a shadowy figure. I could feel it getting closer like that feeling when someone is about to whisper in your ear and the anxiety kicks in so bad that you feel it before they are even doing it. And it was making those fake whispering noises too. I remember not being scared because I knew what was going on, but I woke up after what felt like 5 - 10 seconds. I was more intrigued than scared. But I could see it being different if it happened a lot or lasted longer. Sounds terrifying.

I've had an ex and a coworker both tell me about their sleep paralysis and described the same exact "shadow people" being talked about in this thread.

Not sure what the basis of all this is, but there's absolutely more dimensions to this universe than we are aware of. Makes all the sense in the world to me.

It fucking sucks. I used to have It regularly. After the adult life In never had It again because I'm constantly super tired and being exhausted prevents me from having It. But damn It is scary as fuck to try to move and not have control over your own body. Daaaamn

It was a long time ago, but I recall it being four tall, shadowy figures. I could hear them coming from the other room, speaking to one another through what sounded like electrolarynxes. They stood over me gawking and mumbling in their artificial voices, but I couldn't make out any words or discernible features - just large heads and tall thin bodies. I spent what felt like an eternity trying to scream, my eyes wide open fixed on these monsters, but nothing came out. I must have eventually let out something, since my girlfriend at the time was sleeping on the couch across from me and came to my rescue. I was pretty shook by the whole thing - I couldn't get back to sleep at all for the rest of the night, so I stayed up eating cereal and watching cartoons to exorcise my sleep demons.

I never sleep on my back, and the two times I had sleep paralysis episodes were both when I was sleeping on my back, on a couch. Needless to say, I make it a point to never fall asleep in that position.

I saw 3 aliens surrounding my bed. One at the end and one on each side. Stereotypical grey aliens. Damn terrifying.

Didn't see anything, just thought something was coming down the hallway to get me and I couldn't yell out or move. I was trying really hard to yell out, but no sound was being produced

Think I was about 12. Somewhere around that age.

I was sleeping in a bunk bed on top at the time. I woke up and my mouth was incredibly dry. I was looking over to the edge of the bed and a completely black human figure was looking straight at me ( Almost like 3D shadow but I could make out the fine lines).
I tried screaming out but I didn't make a sound. I then tried to scramble away but my body was completely numb.
I shut my eyes and tried to convince myself that I was still asleep. I can't remember how long I kept them shut but when I opened them again, it was gone and I could move again.

I got out of bed and screamed the house down.

I've never forgotten that.
I never told anyone accept my parents who ran to my aid at the time.
It was only later in life when I read up about sleep paralysis that I felt a bit better about it.

Nothing in the room this time.
I didn't panic and just tried to go back to sleep. I woke up later and it was still dark and was able to move and speak again.
It's weird shit.

Used to happen to me when I was younger, never saw anything though.

All the women in my family have it bad and claim to see demons/shadow men every time so I guess I lucked out

Nothing. I was a psychology student at the time and had my first episode not long after I actually learned about it in class. (don't know if it's possible that hearing about it triggered it in some way) So I basically just instantly recognized what it was (mentally I was fully awake) and proceeded to struggle to move until I suddenly jolted 'awake'. I stopped having episodes some time in my mid 30ies.

Just like QSD QSD I also learned of the phenomenon first, then had one. I saw a separated head hanging from the ceiling. I think it was womans head. The head was spinning around and screaming. I woke up gradually, first the head vanished, then the scream also faded.

I remember I had another paralysis later, but can't remember what I saw. Have not had one in at least 15 years though.

That's interesting, I always kind of assumed I didn't have any hallucinations because I knew what it was. But you knew and still had one. Did you instantly recognize it for what it was? Were you frightened at all?

I can't remember if I knew what was I experiencing while I had it, but certainly right after it. It was scary, no question in that. I guess knowing the phenomenon helped process it better, as I fell asleep again that night.

I woke up like I'm standing in a blizzard, it's freezing, couldn't move or open my eyes for a bit. When I did I saw the fan is pointed at my face. I just covered my face and slept again, then I dream I'm an eskimo fapping inside an igloo.
