What I want - Hall effect or better sticks, reasonable price, solid battery life, easy to repair
What I'll get - Same shitty analog sticks, $100+, 1 hour battery life when new, everything glued in with that shitty iPhone glue
I thought back paddles would have been on the standard controllers this generation but after seeing how well the $200 Edge is selling I know that dream is dead & gone.
What do you hope or believe will be a new feature on the standard controllers of Next-Gen Consoles?
I see a lot of people crying for Hall Effect lately so hopefully it will be a standard next generation.
A $200 controller, what do you expect. My $35 fun lab switch controllers have back padels and rgb lights in a Zelda theme. My point is that stuff can be done but it needs to be affordable, not more than half the cost of thr console.
Personally, I like regular controllers. I got a PS5 on launch day and immediately turned off the haptics, speaker, etc.
I have never turned any of it back on. That stuff isn’t for me. Same thing with motion controls.
That stuff adds so much. I can't imagine a game like silent hill 2 remake without the speaker and haptics. I hate when games skimp on rumble. It irked me when the first ps3 controller didn't have it.
It also bugs me how all Nintendo 3rd party partnership controllers have no rumble or are missing gyro... Yet a non sponsored ones have it all and more for cheap. It's like Nintendo makes them cut features. Why buy a controller or joycon without all the features.

I know it can be done for cheap the problem is Sony is making too much money from the edge controller so they most likely will try to keep selling a $200 controller & wouldn't add the features that help them sell the $200 controller to the standard controller unless it's done by a competing console.
They need to stop adding features to controllers that affect battery life. I don’t need any new gimmick. I use the 8bitdo ultimate controller and I’d be fine with that. They all need to address the quality of the build life of these controllers. Talking to you Sony…. I bought the dual sense and it had stick drift right out of the box. Was sent back and I got the 8bitdo instead.
Something that was always really intriguing was the touchpad on the back of the PS Vita. IIRC it felt pretty good to use and you didn't have to take your thumbs off the sticks to use it.
Granted I'm not sure how well it would work scaled down to a controller size, but it was a very interesting idea back then.
Better battery life, Hall effect sticks, better d-pad. If not that then 8bitdo support for the PS6. They have been bringing out cheap Hall effect controllers for everything BUT the PS5 and it sucks. Wouldn’t mind having a PlayStation version of their genesis/saturn 6-button inspired controller too (I know about the hori controlller on ps5 with 6 face buttons, but seen mixed reviews).
