Actually, they did change it. AMC used to be American Movie Classics. Now it's America's Movie Channel.

I always thought that it stood for "American Movie Channel". If that isn't it, then I suppose "American Movie Central"?

I've not heard of the name change. I guess the change had to occur to avoid all the potential lawsuits. Thanks for the heads up, though in my America they wouldn't show that shit. What an awful channel....

I was wondering exactly what was classic about some of those movies. They could just call themselves "TBS/WGN Lite" and it would be just as accurate.

At one time it was "American Movie Classics" but they realized that nobody wanted to watch "To Kill a Mockingbird" for the 1000th time. Now they show "new" classics... aka, any movie they can get the rights for.

They show some great movies from time to time. I caught "Easy Rider" at like 3 a.m. a few weeks ago.

AMC kicked ass when they showed old war moves such as The Guns of Navarone and it's ilk.

I LOOOOOVE old war movies. I really wish Encore would put up a channel dedicated to war movies.
