One of my favorite horror movies next to Alien. Had to grab the collector's edition from Amazon

SAN Disk 256 GB 100MBps read, 90 MBps write SD card for my Switch OLED. I had been using some 64 GB slow piece of junk from circa 2017 and finally got tired of the performance (was taking like one minute to just load up Bravely Default 2, for example).

6x10 Utility trailer. Last year they cost about $900, now they are up to $1600 to $2000, due to the increase in steal prices and inflation. Mine was 1650.

Leaf Filter, because I had trees growing out of one of my gutters. The initial price was 7k, then discounted to 5k, then when I said I wasn't interested at 5k it got cut in half to 2,4k. $15 a foot.

I was looking into this, but I absolutely loath haggling. Did you use a particular vendor?

I used Leaf Filter.....and the way it works is that they look at your house if it a large house they try to charge you more. Then offer you a fake discount. I paid $15 a ft. You should look to range $10 to $20 a foot for the Leaf Filter product. I waited a day before rejecting the first offer. The installer who is paid by the job and had no skin in the sale, just told me that they use the size of the house to set their estimate. I do have a large brick home, I can understand them thinking they can fleece me. You may loathe the negotiation, but it is a necessary skill.

Measure the perimeter yourself, because the salesman added 10 ft to the length of my gutters. Salesman said 170ft, installer said 160ft. This may just be a tolerance they add for estimation purposes.

Yeah, a 10% buffer is usually the norm.

A new router. Didn't want to spend TOO much money on anything super powerful since it's just me in a pretty small apartment, but I did want something with WiFi 6 and good enough performance. I also wanted something that would look alright in my living room, i.e. something that doesn't look like a fucking spaceship (I really, really hate gaming routers).

So I got one of these (Linksys Atlas Pro 6):

Seems to work great for my 100Mbps connection (and should work well for higher speeds as well, but I don't see the need to spend more money on a faster connection), and it's very discrete. Kinda looks like a white mini XSX (it's really small IRL). It's also mesh, so I can add another one if I ever need to.

So yeah, not very interesting, but that's the last thing I bought, and I'm happy with it so far.

Bought a new plant for my office desk today and I'll be damned if I let plant #13 suffer the fate of neglect suffered by 1-12. I'm a terrible plant keeper.

Modified with the Rowan belt mod (removes the original gearing and replaces those with a belt system, quieter more accurate tracking).

Also picked up an Orion Apex 102 maksutov...

The views with this thing are pin sharp. I'm very impressed. Check out this image of the moon I got with it..

Fucking magnificent. (y)

Is that the max level of zoom?

Actually the image scale is this (using the Orion 102mm and an asi224mc camera)...

moonfinal2.jpg

I had to take multiple videos and process them all then stitch them together in a mosaic. It was my first go at doing a hi resolution mosaic like that and ultimately I failed, there were some weird stacking artifacts I couldn't fix..

So I just cropped it and kept the good part ha.

Beautiful !!!

I stopped looking up, but its only temporary.
Once I've settled in Australia in the next year or so I'll invest in a monster rig for astrophotos.

No my friends and I had this shitty band and we made a tape and I want to hear it again and maybe transfer it to my computer
I've been looking for a great cassette to mp3 converter for this same reason.

So many great songs lost to the void. Mine and my friends shitty bands, but due to shitty studios or contracts there is just no way to access them anymore.

The old cassettes are all I have of a lot of my favorite songs from my youth.

The rabbit hole is deep, I need to stop buying and start learning to use these synths.

The Arturia MicroFreak one is going to be incredible tho, really curious about those capacitive keys. Just saw the postman dropping it off at my house, leaving work early today :p

Not bought but a surprise from the wife:

Bose bluetooth audio sunglasses, sound is surprisingly good and it's one of the few sunglass models I don't look like an asshole when wearing :D
