What is it with people thinking Asian is better?

1st - Korean >>>> Japanese women. No contest. Sure, Koreans get cosmetic surgery, but don't believe for a second that Japanese women don't either :lol . Additionally, you can't get surgery for Koreans being generally taller and slimmer! And just general sense of style and their choice of clothing. Japanese tend to be a mish mash of whatever works or whatever is cute mixed in with some hot office lady looks. In Korea, women HAVE to dress and look beautiful, which is a mixed blessing.

2nd - You guys are so culturally dismissive. They have a reason why they don't shave. However, nobody here seems to be able to get past it because it's not 'what they're used to'. Fucking pornstars should not be a fucking standard.

3rd - Asian women age extremely well. I don't know where anyone would get the idea they don't. My wife is 26, yet she's still regularly carded at bars/casinos/lotteries. Look at any Korean drama and you'll be shocked (I CONSTANTLY am) at how hot and young-looking, but middle-aged, some of those actresses are. The school I was working at, the moms would bring their kids in and wait outside til lessons were done. Jesus Christ did they ever dress up.

4th - I don't get the feeling there's such a fetish for Asian culture as much nowadays. Sure, there are weeaboos, but they seem a lot more vocal about it. Also, wouldn't be ok if they were teens? Teens are fucking crazy anyways. If you're in your 30s and still a weeaboo though....you got some issues...that go beyond fetishism.

5th - Pel, hahaha, to each his own. I love the milky white skin and dark raven hair look. I fucking hate it when they also put in those stupid 'circle contacts' that make their eyes black as well. Maybe I'm just surrounded by too many poor tans here. Done well, it's awesome. Done poorly...ugh...like those crazy Japanese girls who 'tan' their skin...

6th - AbortedWalrus is dead on. Why can't I enjoy another culture without being ostracized for it? Honestly, is western culture so smug and superior that when someone worships the west, it's 'ok' and 'normal' but when someone who's not Asian loves Asians, it's a fetish? This is the same as that 'hot woman' thread where someone posted a hot Asian girl, teh internwebs were LULZ ASIAN FETISH!

7th - My opinion has shifted somewhat regarding Asian women and white males. There are enough of a subset of Asian males here who pretty much degrade white females and want nothing to do with them. Terming them 'slutty'. So I can see how white females might not be pursued or put off. Asian women here are pretty much bananas anyways. If you're raised by a western culture, why wouldn't you date the western ideal? The only women I fucking can't stand are those who simply state they won't date Asian men period. Discrimination pure and simple and I have no tolerance for it.

8th - Terrell, I don't know where you get your opinion of Asian males from, but Industrian is right. Koreans, in general, are passionate. Oftentimes it's their greatest strength and weakness. One student was pretty much stalking a white female teacher at the school I was with. Constantly trying to talk to her, meet her, arrange classes with her, etc. Another Korean woman I know, smart, beautiful, was approached by a Korean dude while she was doing her LSATs. Kept talking her up. No problem...then proposed to her after about 2 months? I was out eating lunch with her one afternoon (she really liked me...poor girl...too bad I couldn't be more with her), and the guy was CONSTANTLY calling, texting every 5 min. :P As for why Asian females want white males? See previous point.
 
Well, GAF has swayed me. I'll give Koreans another chance. My preference will always be for the mainland Chinese (excluding those born and raised in Shanghai, not even other Chinese people can stand them), but I'm all for redemption of the Koreans.

Actually Japanese women don't get it very often, at all. And almost none get it done as young as Korean women....

If there are, I have not noticed. Like I said, I haven't gotten adventurous yet and still only walk around the campus and a little bit outside of it. So for the most part I think I've seen only Chinese women.

obviously there's no real ethnic difference, they were the same country 60 years back! north koreans often have slightly larger heads due to past malnutrition - that's apparently the closest thing to a telltale sign. that and dressing like models from soviet russia.

i guess they probably don't tend to get double-fold eye surgery or use umbrellas in the sun either, but i'm just guessing there.

I've seen foreigner-minorities do this in just about every country, regardless of their nationality/race. I think it's just general human herding mentality(though some nations do have a stronger sense of it). And isn't that the principle on which ethnic-towns form in large metropolis anyway?

by healthy I mean a nice medium tan that shows you do get out during the day. People who play beach sports(surfing, volleyball, swimming) have this.

And asian women can afford to get sun without looking really old since their skin usually tans well from only a little amount of sun.

Holy hell I have never seen a statement more wrong. Tans are gross. They can make an otherwise beautiful girl look hideous, whereas pale skin can never do that. The rest of the world holds many opinions that are simply wrong.

The context of pale skin in Asia is different than in Europe, where not all skin tans. Asian skin actually tans very easily on exposure to sun--it's actually unnatural to have pale skin for Asians, unless you deliberately act like a vampire and avoid the sun, with umbrellas and gloves, full-face shades, and using chemical skin bleaching creams--and work indoors in office buildings. It also is tied to both intra social distinctions within countries (darker skin indicates you are poor, from rural areas, work with your hands, etc.) and inter social distinctions (the further south your country is, the less developed, less civilized, etc. your ethnicity is--Southeast Asians getting looked down on big time--doesn't help that there is more exposure to sun the further south you go). So pale skin has both classism and racism issues in Asia.

ok, let me get this straight.

so you're basically saying:

-Southern European women (ie - Italian, Greek, Spanish)
-Latinas (Central America, South America, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Florida)
-South East Asians (ie- Thais, Filipina)
-Africans
-East Asian women who are tan (Asian American girls, and Hyori)

ALL of the above are gross looking?

Show me an example of a girl who was beautiful but looks gross with a natural tan(not a fake orange tan).

I don't like the pale skin worship in Asia not because it looks bad, but because it only further engenders (subconscious?) racism against darker-skinned people - and Asia is the most racist place I've been to, by a long way.

I would say it's 1% tied to white worship and 99% tied to class.

It's the same thing as feet binding back when Chinese men were assholes and corsets back when European men were assholes. If you're a rich woman, you don't have to work, so it's okay to have fucked up feet or an impossibly small waist.

In the Philippines you have the most naturally dark skinned girls doing their make up to try to look pale skinned.

They end up looking like extras in a low budget zombie movie from the 70s.
 
Asains at my school are the clicky-est mother fuckers, Indians too. Oh yeah and all Japanese porn is unwatchable with their actresses always panting or screaming like they don't enjoy their sex. It makes it unfappable.

I still remember this bit on SModcast where Scott Mosier talked about how he saw cream to make your nipples pink in a Cambodian pharmacy.

This is the lengths people will go to for that weird bleached out/pale look. :lol

Ok this made me LOL in real life. New word added to my personal dictionary :D

I prefer SE Asian women because they look more exotic and have naturally darker skin. Most of them don't care about skin bleaches and cosmetics to make their skin look whiter.

Having said that, Japanese women tend to be more 'developed' (wink wink, nudge nudge)

It wasn't that. I can't stand a lot of the herbs used in Vietnamese foods in general. Vietnamese mint is particularly bad...I'd rather eat grass than smell/eat vietnamese mint again. They were relatively popular joints in the SF bay area.

To be fair, I like Ramen but I don't think it compares anything to Pho. It kills me that I can't get a good bowl of Pho in this country.

Mint? I'm not a big fan of eating it but I do think it smells damn great though it suffers like any planet, poorly grown produces poor product. Even so, could just not eat it. Mint is usually served as a side for anyone that wants to eat it. The only that's sometimes annoying and they always put into the soup is Cilantro but I've gotten used to it. Best way to eat Pho is with thinly sliced onions, some green onions (can't recall the specific variety) and a little bit of cilantro. Leave the mint out, bean sprouts in.

And popular joints tend to be a magnet for not so good at times. Nothing really beats homemade.
 
Pho doesn't taste like poverty in a bowl unless you go to a bad restaurant.

I know this massive restaurant that only sells pho and its damn nice and always full

What country are you in, Japan? There are decent pho places if you dig around in the major cities.

I love pho and I usually go out for it once a week, and average pho > average ramen. But I've had ramen that's right up there with top notch pho - at like two places, mind you, but it's out there.

There's this place in Kyoto near Nishiki that does curry udon of the gods, that's another dish Japan has going for it.

Yeah, I'm in Japan now. Only easy options for big cities is Tokyo or Sendai since I live in the inaka of Fukushima (yet still have a direct route to Tokyo, wtf). Haven't really find a good place in Tokyo.

I have a rather high standard for Pho though because I am Vietnamese and having a mother that cooks better than ever restaurant I've ever been to does that to you. :lol

Okay, that explains everything. I've never met a Vietnamese person whose mother or grandmother didn't make the best pho ever :lol

Tokyo supposedly has the best all-round cuisine in the world, it knocked off Paris a year or so ago in some ranking. But I'm kinda wondering if thats in a certain bracket. For me, Kansai was the cradle of culinary awesomeness. Though I'll admit, that's where I lived so I had more chance to eat around.

But come on, once you've had mochi-bacon okonomiyaki, how's anything else supposed to compete?

It's not that she isn't beautiful, she's gorgeous. It's just that there are hundreds of those girls who come and go every month and she's kind of b or c-level in her field.
