Okay, that explains everything. I've never met a Vietnamese person whose mother or grandmother didn't make the best pho ever :lol

Well, my mom's had like person in our circle of friends (and that's a big circle) praise her cooking and some folks have actually asked her to start a restaurant. So I'm certain her Pho is awesome. I haven't had a Pho restaurant that comes even close and I've had a lot of Pho restaurants. Seattle is littered with them nowadays.

Tokyo has good food but when it comes to food from countries that don't have giant followings, it's not as good. Thai and Vietnamese restaurants in Tokyo I've found to be mostly terrible. I did find one Thai place that's basically home-style and that's nice for a quaint meal.

That's the gist of it but good Pho literally draws out all the flavor in the beef bones you use and adds extra wonderful flavor with spices. Then good quality noodles and great cuts of beef on top of that. Just typing that sentence has my mouth watering.

Nah, very different taste and all. For one thing, Ramen works with either a chicken bone or pork bone base for their soup. They then add flavoring on top of it using different ingredients like Soy sauce or miso, and then various ingredients.

Properly done Pho is entirely beef bone broth with spices and a few things here and there. Nothing added in addition. Can do it with Chicken too but Beef is the best.

Noodles are totally different, Pho uses rice noodles where Ramen uses wheat flour as a base. Toppings are also different. Ramen has a huge variety of odd-ended things. Pho is typically a lot of types of onions, herbs, and tons of different cuts of beef.

I've had it before, and I knew about the rice noodles, but having both in front of you, they look very similar. thanks for clearing up the rest though.

Whoops, my mistake. The 2nd picture is actually Bunh Bo Hue. It's a little different from pho but not much.

Most people eat it with chopsticks with their right hand and spoon with their left. Left for broth and right for noodles, and everything else! You should try some pho. You're missing out.

Oh I don't doubt that it's awesome, it's just a phenomenon I've noticed.

It's certainly understandable though. The Vietnamese mothers and grandmothers take a lot more time properly preparing Pho where restaurants are catering to large numbers. It's a problem with any type of home-cooking taken to the restaurant setting but Pho suffers a lot more because at least in America, it's become a kind of fast-food dish. Ramen has some of the same problems but isn't nearly as bad due to the preparation style and ingredients.

I'll admit they may not get it done 'as much as' Korean women, but Japanese women 'definitely' get it done.

Here in NA though...different story. As for dismissiveness...you mean more than NA girls? I'd say yes, though I've run into enough mouthy bitches in East Asia to say that's just a generalization. Late 20's Korean women (and Japanese to some extent) are fairly aggressive in pursuing men. Korean women, once married and are termed 'ajumma' :lol are EXTREMELY aggressive in getting what they want. I was pushed out of the way when I got off a bus once. Another story of an older woman pushing and attacking people on a street corner for money. They couldn't really do anything as they're taught to respect elders.

pubba - ermmm...actually, can you clarify 'developed'? If you're referring to breast size, I didn't see a lot of huge breasted girls when I was in Japan. None of the Japanese girls I met were particularly noteworthy either. Southeast Asian and Pacific Islanders are a different story.

pel - to clarify, there certainly 'is' an ideal for pale skin. However, there are enough Koreans who don't abide by it and I met a whole ton who didn't have tanned nor had overly milky white skin either (who were still hot as hell). Thank god they're reasonable and don't go the ugly ganguro route like the Japanese. I did not, however, meet any girls who went out of their way to get a tan though, which is fine by me.

But at some point, it varies per woman, they just hit an incredible wall and devolve into stocky, tough creatures that go bald and perm anything left over. I'm sure that if you looked at photos of these old women when they were younger, they used to be stunning. My shallowness tells me I can't spend the rest of my life with a woman who will eventually look like a lost member of the California Raisins.

Hah! Are you sure those women were in their 40s, then? You'd be very surprised at how the girls who look 'in their 20s and 30s' are actually in their '30s and 40s'. Granted, once you hit mid to late 40s, it's difficult for any race to look fantastic without a lot of extra help. Hell, my mom is mid 50s and could still pass for mid 40s. My mother in law is also the same.

Stocky, tough creatures that go bald and perm anything left over? Is this really differently across all races? I could say the same thing for Italian women. Breathtakingly beautiful...but then turn into those doddy old Italian grandmas very suddenly.

the number of asian girls i know who either outright do not find asian girls attractive or refuse to date another seriously shocks me.
