What is the point of a vibrating shaver?

I see ads all over the place for these battery powered vibrating razors. The womens one is called Venus Vibrance, and I can't remember what the guys one is called, but how much of a difference between the two would there be anyway.

What the hell is the point of a razor that vibrates?

FLAWLESS VICTOLY!
I'm lost by this as well....that said, my friend bought the mens version and he swears he gets the best shave of his life.

i have a Mach3 Power and it does make for a nice, closer shave. For women its probably so they can masturbate in the shower though.

Mach 3 Power is fantastic. I couldn't go back.
Also, I've been using it for over a year now - have not had to change the AAA battery that it came with yet!

With a razorblade? Ouch.

If you check out the handle on the women's razorblade, it's rather bulbous..... so Ninja Scooter has it right.

i don't think the vibration does anything near what gillette claims it does (bring the hairs out of your skin for a closer shave)...i think the vibration just sort of stimulates your nerves on your skin so you're not as sensitive to any pain caused by shaving. my m3 power is the best shave i've ever had, and i think it's because the vibration doesn't let me realize i'm chopping at my face with a razor blade.

No, that's what we have detachable shower heads with adjustable settings for. <3 :)

What's the word on the Mach 3 Power? Been using the Mach 3 for years now and I am ready for a change.

Anyone shaved their pubic hair with it? Ok maybe I'm the only one then :/

Ew. I'm assuming you are a guy. I don't understand why a guy would do that. Trimming I can understand, but shaving it all off is creepy.

I used to use a regular Mach 3 and have very sensitive skin and would still be irritated by shaving with the M3. I switched to the Mach 3 Power and I get a much more comfortable shave with the Power version, and it does seem somewhat closer than what I was getting with the regular M3 (but my facial hair grows crazy fast so it doesn't really matter by about 3pm). Don't buy the branded Power blade refills, just get regular M3 blades, I don't see the difference between the two.

Dude, that's sad. Gilette needs to invent ways to get people interested in their products in order to get them to upgrade and you are falling for it!

Schick thought so as well, so much that it brought lawsuit. A federal judge agrees with you saying the claim that the vibrations lifts hair up and away from the skin is "literally false". Just over a month ago Gillette was ordered to change its packaging and advertising so as not to incorporate that claim (explicitly or otherwise).

I'm not on the Mach3 Power love train. I saw the ad and was like 'AWESOME! Technology to actually lift the hair for an easier shave!' When I bought it and used it for the first time, I was some pissed when I realized all the fucking did was vibrate, and the vibration doesn't do shit. I actually get a better shave when I leave the vibration off.

More blades are useless. They all go over the same spot, so if you miss hair you miss it with all the blades. Then you have to go over some spots again up to 4 times to get stray hairs because of the 4 blades.

The only drawback to the 1-blade razors is they need to be rinsed more often. Not a big deal at all. You should rinse it often regardless.

Some girls I know prefer a guy to be completely shaved down here. :x

If it vibrates at the blade part, you'd have to be pretty stupid to use it to get off.

From the previously linked sfgate article:

How can we tell, by the way, that this thing is a vibrator in disguise? I mean, besides the hot smooth fleshy pinkness and the rounded penile tip and besides the fact that the portion of the razor's handle that vibrates most powerfully is actually the large, rounded end without the razor blades on it?

What if you broke up and the next girl wanted it to grow out.

OUCH.

Sucks to be you then I guess. Lol. I'm not a guy but I stay inbetween now. Shave the important part and leave a small patch. As for me, I just prefer a guy to be well trimmed. Though I won't mess with the balls if there's hair. =o Pubic hair is nasteh.

I use an M3 power and I get a great shave. I'm not sure if the vibrating does anything, as I only used a Mach 3 Turbo once before getting an M3 Power, but it seems to take little time to shave. Perhaps it does line up the hairs to make for a faster shave. If I go over the same spot twice there's nothing left to cut the second time (I only do it just to be sure).

I get much less razor burn with this razor, my theory is that its the chisel action that gets the close shave.
