Hi,

I would like to control my PS2(the fat one with built in IR sensor) with a universal remote control, and the universal SONY DVD code is not working with it. The codes are universal right? Thanks in advance.

Hello, I will try 7777. I read 7444 might work, but instead it turned on my pioneer dvd player.... I can turn on the PS2 with a remote right?

I think you need a certain version of the DVD player software for the power-on functionality to work - if you have a PSTwo you should be fine, but I, for instance, have a launch (well, near launch) PS2 with the software from the first released remote that didn't have the power-on button, nor the functionality in the software I'd imagine.

Come to think of it, I'm not sure if it was a power-on/off button or just a tray eject button.

None of them working

Don't try power on/off with universal remotes. If you want to see if it works or not, put a DVD movie in the PS2, start playback and then test the remote.

I for example have the big PS2 with integrated IR sensor, and the DVD playback controls fine with the Sony TV remote, but I can't get it to power on/off.

Ahh you are right! ON/OFF didnt work so I assumed the codes arent working. Seems that everything is working except for ON/OFF. Man that sucks.

If anyone is wondering, I used a generic SONY DVD code... 0018 wich can be 1018 on some remotes I think.
