What is the single best decision you ever made?

I've made a lot of great choices in life, but the best is having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Other great decisions:
Married Well
Went to School got a degree in a good field
Invested well
Started a Roth IRA when I was young
Children
Disciplined my Children
Buying a home in the housing crises
Buying a rental property

Getting into technology and learning all sorts of 'ethical' hacking to where now I have a job that pays a shit ton and I barely do a lot of work. Thanks computers.

My second and third best decisions are also in my avatar.

Playing FFXI and deciding to switch to a different server when some random person asked me to. Pretty sure that was the butterfly effect moment for me. Changed my entire personal life and career.

Starting a print company. It was a conversation my girlfriend and I had at a bar (who is now my wife) fourteen years ago. She said "lets start a print company!"

It helped us move to a coastal area in Maine, bought a house, and we have a daughter that I hope one day will either take the print shop and work with it or sell it to benefit her future career.

1. Going to China for 9 years.
2. Well coming home was a shitty decision but getting on unemployment during the pandemic and getting into crypto using my unemployment funds has netted me more money these last two years than I got at any job that hired me. Seriously, fuck the American job market. It's shit.

Developing super strict fiscal responsibility which allowed me to buy my first condo and afford it while still maximizing my savings.
All gravy since then.

1. Starting to work out consistently
2. Investing in index funds at a young age to utilize the compound effect
3. Cut porn out of my life
4. Limit time and access to social media platforms

Buying a bungalow to rent out. Not only is it worth 4x more now, its also makes a good amount every year on top of it.

Travelling around the Globe
Nothing like meeting people with a totally different perspective.
(insistence on the travelling part, it's not supposed to be holidays, if you finish more rested than you went in, you did it wrong)

Joining the Military which taught me discipline and focus and left me with some great skill-sets AND access to many great Veteran services( V.A. loan was a god-send) after my 8 years in. Also marrying my wife, she's taught me the importance of saving and preparation in ways I'd never considered. I had awful money management until we were married, I used to spend it till' I had nothing and just wait until the next paycheck, she taught me that with just a few, small changes, I can still pretty much do what I want AND still save for the future and it's made a huge difference.

I would say having my son at a young age?
Besides that maybe buying my condo 4 years ago. Bought it for 259 and it goes for just under 600k now.

I'll be moving to Israel in June. My spiritual homeland and a country I can truly belong in as a Jew and Zionist.

I'm even quitting my PhD and renting out my property here in the UK to make the move.

It's a massive deal and something I've been wanting to do for many years now. I ultimately decided that if I don't make the move now, I never will with everything tying me down to the UK.

The best things in life takes sacrifice and I truly can not wait.

Dropping out of college, dumping my ex, ditching my 'friends' to spend more time with/take care of my immediate family (which have all since passed away)

I rejected the world for them and they passed down certain knowledge and wisdom which led to contentment, success and being a better person in general

So far, I would say choosing to go to graduate school. It is...opening doors of opportunity for me that I didn't see coming.

Having kids young.

my friend are now changing nappies whilst mine are moving out; and I'm still young(ish) to enjoy solo life again.

Paying full price for TLOU2 instead of waiting for a discount, man that game was worth every penny more so seeing as I managed to avoid all spoilers

can't really think of anything....

seems every decision i've made is the wrong one or a lack of one.
same. I'm working on trying to make smarter choices every day. Still failing sometimes (like posting on here instead of working on achieving my goals) but I am doing better.

It wasn't a "decision" so to speak but having my daughter. Finding out we were going to have a child kicked me in the butt to stop coasting by and apply myself. I still struggle with it but that was the beginning of the transformation.

Moving away from my hometown and native country to finally start a career at 27. Five years later and I have my own company and lead a team of 6 other contractors for a fantastic client.
