it scares and saddens me that tens of thousands of people in the UK chose to purchase the noise that this thing makes (backed by a cheesy axel-f keyboard jingle), over any other music available to them at the time. and from what i hear, it's STILL selling.

As horrible a thing as the atomic bomb or nuclear weaponry in general is, isn't it possible that the mutually assured destruction it generated kept us from entering in some potentially nasty conflicts, and thus, saved quite a few lives? Think about it, so far, we're the only ones to use the things in an actual war, despite the bomb's potential to end the earth in general...

I gotta go with religion. I don't see anything wrong with individual faith, but few things have fucked this world over in general as people killing/torturing/enslaving others in the name of religion.

I didn't mean it as an invention, rather as a means we used other than the gun and bullet to displace entire tribes of inconveniences.

Actually I would argue science and nationalism surpassed religion a long time ago. WWI and WWII were not about religion. The recipe for the Atomic bomb was not found in any holy book.

Not that I think science is bad, but it has paved the way for so many horrible inventions (and so many good ones too).

Hyperbole aside, why? Religion and the concept of god are not synonymous. People aren't writing god, they're writing religion.

You're right, they should lie and just say what they don't actually think. Religion is historically tied to ALOT of horrible things, how could one deny that? You don't have to be part of a religion to believe in a higher being, you know...

The problem being that there is nothing fundamentally wrong with religion, there's just a problem with stupid people. See my answer above.

Without the stupid tards in the world, the discovery of atomics, the use of religion, etc. wouldn't be anywhere near the problems they are today.

Probably 7 game series for the first round. You have to eliminate the teams lucky enough to have made the playoffs quick, then get to the heated 7 game competitions. After that... the Lifetime channel I guess.

If you had to pick the biggest evil of the world in the last 100 years would religion be listed?

To me religion doesn't even seem to be practiced that much anymore so I am thinking you people are overestimating its current impact on events.

I think nationalism has replaced religion as enemy number one. People might not go to church, but they are willing to sign up to bomb poor countries into the dust while waving the red, white, and blue.
