What is your favorite pokemon game?

Just wondering. Long ago played a bit of yellow, lost interest. Playing a bit of Platinum, the leap from yellow is incredible. I like it so far. Picked Chimchar, best monkey.

Team Galactic are a bunch of hooligans obsessed with energy? and that one blue haired guy muttering about "Space and time."

Liked stumbling across some creepy manor hidden in the forest. Tons of stuff to explore.

Crystal - spend so many months playing this and never once got bored. Also possibly the best sequel ever. So many new additions. day and night cycle, egg pokemon, holding items, etc.

Platinum - 2nd most time spent in a pokemon game. Possibly the best champion battle ever. Takes the cake for that alone

Gold/Silver was peak Pokemon for me. Enough pokes but not too much, their designs were great, it had Kanto after the first credits and the true final boss was awesome.

I also have fond memories of Pokemon Pinball.

Pokemon go, the last few mainline games have put me to sleep physically. I liked red when it first came out but it hasn't really improved as much as I'd hoped during the years.

Played almost all of them and never finished a single one but the furthest i got was in x and y, at the time when it was the first 3d one and had a blast playing it with me mate

Emerald is the best game they've put out and it's not even close.

Battle Frontier was the only significant end game content they've ever put in one of these games, and it's monstrous.

Actual aura of mystery surrounding some of the best legendaries of the series like Deoxys and Rayquaza, the space shuttle that I visited every day based on the rumours that one day it would launch and send me to Jirachi.

The mystical Mirage Island.

Using a Game Shark for the tickets for Far Away Island etc.

The game was just unreal. Even the music was banging.

Pokemon Yellow I'll still happily play. Anything past the original 151 just gets too muddled tbh. Would love to see a proper remake/open world of the originals.

Pokemon Snap is also one of the best games on N64 so I'm excited to check the new one out later this month.

Trick question. They're all the same.
That being said the best one is Colosseum.

Platinum is amazing...
So are HeartGold/SoulSilver
So are Black/White

I'd have a hard time ranking those. They are all top notch. And despite Sword/Shield getting a lot of hate, they are actually good games. Not as good as the above, but definitely superior to X/Y and Sun/Moon.

Yellow. I just like the simplicity of Gen 1.

(It's not nostalgia because I didn't play them back then).

For me, I'd say this is my ranking from best to worst

1. Gen 1 (Red/Blue/Yellow)
2. Gen 3 (Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald)
3. Gen 2 (Gold/Silver/Crystal)
4. Gen 8 (Sword/Shield)
sizable gap
5. Gen 5 (Black/White)
6. Gen 7 (Sun/Moon)
7. Gen 6 (X/Y)
8. Gen 4 (Diamond/Pearl/Platinum)

There's obviously some level of nostalgia here but I still think the first 3 gens are the best 3, and I absolutely loved Gen 8. And just to be clear I thoroughly enjoyed every Gen so this isn't me hating on Gen 4 or 6, somebody had to be last

I would agree that Diamond/Pearl are the 'worst' games. But... Platinum below X/Y and Sun/Moon is blasphemy. Despite them being the same gen, Platinum is vastly superior to Diamond/Pearl. It's not even close.

It's one of B/W1, B/W2, and HG/SS for sure.

Shield could have been a contender with how cool it made gym battles, but it felt lacking in some ways. I can't put my finger on it.

Gold/Silver/Crystal are still unrivaled in terms of sheer content. I mean, they have two whole regions, with eight gym leaders each! Not to mention all those features they added after Red/Gold/Yellow: breeding, day/night cycle, rematches with trainers you already defeated, berries, holdable items, shiny Pokémon etc.

Never again have we seen such an increase in the amount of content and features from one gen to the next. If anything, subsequent games have often removed features from previous gens. So for that reason alone I'd say Gold/Silver/Crystal are the best Pokémon games (or rather the remakes are, followed by the originals). Though Black/White are close second for me, since they were (and still are) the first Pokémon games whose story wasn't forgettable at best or utterly cringeworthy at worst. X/Y were such a gigantic step backward in this regard.

Pinball
TCG

(My son plays the actual main-series adventures, but all I know well are the pinball game and the physical cards that we collect & play together.)

Black and White 1 is the game.
Amazing diversity, good main characters and a good story.

OG Red and Blue, played on a Red or Blue GB Pocket. I remember getting all hyped for it from a Nintendo Power story, and my first time playing it was sheer magic.

This is a really hard choice for me. Man, I love so many of the Pokemon games.

Probably Silver. Got it when I was in 8th grade after waiting an eternity to go on a new Pokemon journey. Loved all the new monsters and the game felt huge at the time. The remake is incredible too, but I didn't play it so much because I played the originals to death multiple times.

I have to say though that I missed out on Gen 5. Played through White and dropped it because I got discouraged about how it's basically impossible to get battle ready Pokemon without cheating (got totally fixed imo next gen). From what I hear about Black2/White2, they sound like the very best games in the series. Playing White again right now and it's remarkably good.

Would love to play the sequels but... they go for $150 for just the cart alone!!

I like ruby and platinum equally, then black and white. Super mystery dungeon is my favorite spin off, and i may like it more than the main series(especially now)
