"Fix" Your favorite Game Franchises

Game franchises that i would "fix"

1. Counter Strike

>Slow Down Movement acceleration values, slow down top speed, increase movement friction (nerfing peekers advantage, removing crouch sliding, and nerfing A-D spam/jiggle peeking)

Examples of what I'm talking about: and

>Bring back bunny hopping as a mix between 1.6 and CSGO versions of it (bunny hopping will not make you move faster)

>the competitive Map pool will be made up of mostly wide-open aim-heavy maps like cache, mirage, overpass, Dust 2 etc, Many maps will receive reworks that open up the map, making lanes wider, making utility choke points less powerful and making sites easier to retake (with inferno being a prime example of a map that will be heavily changed)
>obviously a much better anti cheat and server browser

>much greater map visibility by removing unnecessary geometry/objects (cs source did this perfectly), and in competitive game modes, all CT models will be vibrant blue, and all T models will be Vibrant orange

This early version of Mirage in CSGO is what I want every map to look like in terms of geometry (although I think CS2 Anubis has a pretty good middle ground between map visibility and good visuals)

2. Sonic The Hedgehog

>3 Primary sonic gameplay styles going forward

-Sonic Rush style games (Sonic Colors DS, Sonic Rush, Sonic Rush Adventrure, and the 2.5D sections of stages in sonic unleashed as examples for what future rush titles should look like)

- Sonic Adventure Style games (SA1, SA2, and Sonic 06/P06)

I think the Adventure games and P06 Nailed the controls of sonic, however the level design in these games I always found a bit lacking, (with some certain sections being exactly what I want out of a 3D sonic game but then those sections are followed up with easily skipable pathways or a bunch of long corridors where there is very little interaction from the player)

Sonic's speed needs to be turned down a bit in favour of more movement mechanics similar to Pseudoregalia

There needs to be more traditional 3D platforming stage design, with the best examples of this in a Sonic game being Radical Train from Sonic 06/P06, Crisis City from Sonic 06/P06, Final Rush From Sonic Adventure 2, radical highway from shadow generations

- Sonic frontiers/open world sonic games

I've never played frontiers nor do I plan to anytime soon but it is very obvious why sonic team is sticking with the open world formula, Sonic is an inherently arcadey game franchise and in order to make up for with the swiftly completed levels due to sonic speed, sonic team has always included filler gameplay styles/mechanics in which you spend vastly more time playing these boring gameplay styles than the usually excellent standard sonic stages (unleashed, Rush adventure and ESPECIALLY the adventure games are prime examples of this), the open world formula is meant as a fix for this issue and clearly it works as sonic frontiers is the best selling 3D sonic game of all time and was even successful in Japan

3. HOI4

1. Fix the fucking AI, vanilla HOI4 is completely braindead regardless of how much you buff the enemies, they do not retreat, they constantly put their units in low supply environments, they do not build good divisions, they do not make proper use of their tanks, the AI always has an equipment deficit, the AI allows its units to get encircled all the time, the AI randomly leaves ENTIRE FRONTS when they have lost enough units in a certain area (I encircle soviet divisions in Kyiv and for some reason their entire northern front army LEAVES, which allows me to capture leningrad for free),

Mods that actually make the game challenging have to make the AI aggressively cheat in order to artificially boost the difficulty (spawning units and equipment out of thin air, insane focus bonuses, infinite manpower, unit spam etc)

2. Nerf Tank production, no army should be able to have 40 heavy tank divisions in 1940

3. add scenarios like in HOI3 (Battle of the Bulge, Operation Overlord, Operation Barbarossa, Operation Downfall, etc), sometimes I don't want to spend entire afternoons building up industry, invading poland and France for the millionth time, carrying Italy, creating divisions, farming army XP just to get to Barbarossa

would like to see what you guys would do to your favorite game IP's

Fix Grand Theft Auto - make another game just like the PS2 GTAs with the OG Rockstar PS2 aesthetic and superior gameplay.
Fix Manhunt - another Manhunt (based on Valiant Video Enterprises) with Brian Cox.

Remove slide-spammers from COD Mobile. It's ridiculous when you unload 15 bullets, but your enemy is sliding across the asphalt (how?!) and killing you with a toothpick!

Persona - they've been adding more elements from the first few games which is good but they really need to fix how awful the third acts are. Maybe having an adult cast again would help.

Resident Evil - just make a new entry built off of REmake 2's blueprint. Keep the focus on character and a more serious tone. Something more akin to outbreak than the wacky nonsense from 4 and on.

Silent Hill - keep it away from western devs, sorry SH2 still sucks, and just find people with a real vision. Don't worry about aping the old games or fitting the canon. F seems like it might be doing this so maybe we'll get a good game again.

Darkstalkers - not sure there is any hope for it. I don't really trust Capcom or even arcsys to do it right.

Castlevania - a new 3D game that plays like a mix of pandora's tower and castlevania 64 would be my dream. Play into the old hammer horror vibes with a sense of humor and give it a visual identity as distinct as the music.

Elder scrolls and fallout - fire the entire writing team and hire some competent ones , maybe hire a great book writer to make the story/dialog

Not my absolute favorite, but Animal Crossing: Make it much more open. The series doesn't need to be open world, although that would be interesting. The main town in which you live even doesn't have to be huge. But at least provide several areas that you can travel to for collecting resources, items, fossils, and interacting with animals. A snowy area with snow/ice materials or furniture and native animals such as polar bears and penguins. A desert area with resources such as cacti, Saharah and Katrina, and the native animals. A forest area with many types of trees for various types of wood harvesting. A city as well for various shops and street vendors. And so on. It would also be nice to be able to assign tasks to your villagers or receive tasks from them. You don't want to pull all of the weeds around town? Pay a villager to do it. You want to build multiple of an item or outsource fishing labor to create an automated fish selling business? Pay a villager to fish throughout the day. I've been wanting these features since putting hundreds of hours into the original on GameCube in the early 2000s.

Dragon age without any push and force woke agenda especially pertaining to twisted gender ideology lecturing and binary and misuse of pronouns crap.

Could already be vastly improved by mods by would like Fallout and Elder Scroll games to already have good looking characters and more NPCs on screen plus bigger cities by default.

One of my favs, counting all fromsoft soulsborne games.

Elden Ring

The game ends in Lyendell, farum azula and haligtree are still in it but you no longer have to experience burnout syndrome to reach em.Cut all snowareas from the game.into the trash it goes.

Paper Mario:
Forget everything after SPM happened and go back to a classic turn-based RPG like TTYD, with the grandiosity of SPM's story, and PM64's soft storybook artstyle, original characters, and presentation. Damn, what I would give for something like that.

Dragon's Dogma: add a hard difficulty level so it's not piss easy.
SMT: stop adding QOL stuff, those games were at their best when you couldn't just save anywhere nor fast-travel.
Dragon Quest: cancel FF forever, divert all that money to more DQ. :lollipop_content:

Final Fantasy

Bring back turn-based combat. I would be fine with ATB, but I would love Final Fantasy X's turn-based approach.

Fix the story writing. Square Enix doesn't have the emotional pull that SquareSoft did. They got me invested in the characters and the world. Square Enix is pretty much a wet fart.

I was going to reply "puto manchego"
One of those days I'll go to Murcia and end this charade one ramazo de olivo at a time, I swear.

but looking at what they are doing since IX they might as well and I wouldn't care. I don't care for DQ either.
Man you should give them a chance. Combat can be a bit too simple, but there's no better JRPG when it comes to adventure feel, charm and epic moments. DQ V has imo the best story in any JRPG.

Good luck finding an olive branch that doesn't spontaneously combust with the contact of Murcia's atmosphere.

I have already too many games to play to enter another rabbit hole. I have rebirth with the plastic sealing on.

Killing Floor 3 - Use every line of code related to movement, recoil and ballistics from Killing Floor 1 and just update the visual assets. Boom. Enjoy the massive sales and do way less work in the process.

STALKER 2 - Release a trailer for STALKER 2 on a modernized X-Ray engine. Whenever anyone asks about the UE5 version of STALKER 2 just act like you have no idea what they're talking about. Never break character on it. Quietly add X-Ray version to the accounts of anyone who bought the UE5 version. Never acknowledge it though. It's not released until it has a more sophisticated A-Life system than the last entry.

Metal Gear - exist

Elden Souls - anyone with enough hubris to type anything here should just get into politics. Miyazaki has proved time and time again that he knows what I want much better than I do

Forza Motorsport - I'm willing to accept the platform model, hell I'm even in favor of it as a guy who spends a lot of hours unlocking and tuning stuff. Motorsport fixed almost everything I disliked about 7, being the corny menus, electric guitar riffs and gambling cards, it was just rough around the edges. Steer INTO the platform model. Plan for it to exist for no less than a decade. Take your time and be transparent about the list and timeline of upgrades every car model. Continue to give serious care, communication and effort to both controller and wheel players. Make the multiplayer qualifying matter. Figure out multi-month racing leagues with a cool spectator system. Remove all trace of the "Car Points" system. Never stop adding cars. I have no problem giving $10-20 per month if all these conditions are earnestly met. It sucks so bad that things fell apart when they did. Pretty much just as soon as the foundation became truly rock solid. Rug pull. Painful. Start doing some Early Access Rally work. Again, happy to open the wallet.

Castlevania - Make a new Symphony of the Night. Same art. Same technology. Resist any urge go beyond that technology. And please for the love of God, exist. Exist damn it!

Elder Scrolls - Use an iterated version of the Starfield Creation Engine. Talk to the modding community about how you can get stuff like SKSE into the retail code so we can skip those kinds of step. Put a big focus on the races and racial attributes. Expand on it. Makes the playstyles and maybe even menu aesthetics unmistakably different. Find writers that have been in a coma since 2005. Make every effort to get mod support into the console version launch. Do the least amount of fucking around when it comes to mods. If you're bound and determined to monetize, make it so it can only be done in the form of "tips" after a mod is downloaded. Overall: do less. Take less chances, deviate less from previous entries. Don't streamline anything. Get a legal restraining order on anyone in the company with an active Epic account. A simple iteration on Skyrim will be fine and dandy.

Add ADS to counterstrike (j/k). That's sacrilege, but I'd love to see a "dumbed down" counterstrike style game by Valve based around COD's movement style etc and arcade gameplay. Have the two games share the same Steam Inventory. COD players are tired of buying a new game every year, they want stability too.
... and as bonus? Your CS inventory would increase in value (win/win!).

Now for an opinion which is a legit hate crime. I want Sonic to SLOoooooOW the fuck down. For a speedster character he's so lame he needs crotches for the gameplay to actually work. Remove anything going on-rails, the homing attack, cut down on grind rails, springs & speed boosters.
Have him run and handle basically like Mario in Odyssey but have a dash mode where he runs faster and starts controlling like car or a skateboarder in an extreme sports game.
The idea is to have the player in 100% control at all time. No Mario Maker Auto level shit. It would now be possible to change up the gameplay with powerups.

Sonic games sell a fraction of what the Mario games do, I think it's time to shake up the formula.

1. Acquire time machine
2. Go back to 2014
3. Identify creator of Kait Diaz character
4. Plant suspicious materials in home
5. Make anonymous call to FBI accusing person of threats against the President
6. Return to present time and enjoy Kait-free Gears

Hunt: Showdown

1. Revert the stupid wallbang nerf
2. Revert the addition of status effect ammo to every weapon possible
3. Throw the new map in the trash
4. Bring the old UI back

Many more I forgot.

Command & Conquer: Make a new one that takes off where Tiberian Sun (& Firestorm) left off. Ignore Command & Conquer 3. Let Earth really go to hell and have it be "terraformed" into this alien world. At the end of the game, tease the invasion of the related aliens (this was already set up by Tiberian Sun, so I consider their existence canon). Make an expansion where you have to fight against them with what's fucking left of humanity. Enhance GDI and Nod with found alien tech but don't make the alien faction playable and don't make them predictable. Their units and their general strategy should be weird, and well... alien as fuck. I think having them as a playable faction removes the core of what Command & Conquer's Tiberium universe is about and I also think it makes for a more fun campaign (and multiplayer). And alien tech can be a gameplay element that you can fight over (anyone remember Metal Fatigue? Where you can basically steal components for your mechas? Kinda like that but better designed).

Also: Make a new Dune RTS. Take the designs from Villeneuve's Dune movies and go from there. I wonder what House Ordos would look like with these aesthetics. I have to think about what the "gimmick" of that RTS could be. If it actually would benefit from one. Except for the usual "you can only build stuff on rock"-mechanic that the previous Dune RTS games had.

Command & Conquer Renegade 2: Set during Tiberian Sun and is a RTS/FPS hybrid. You can not only control vehicles and stuff, like in the first Renegade, but also command a small squad.

Take Metroid away from those spaniards, their style is painfully generic. Also put Retro Studios out their misery. No game in a decade and the Prime 4 trailer looks like an AI prompt.

Though there's prob not many devs who'd understand the series. Maybe give it to FROM.

TLOUSpart2

Joel survive, Abby die.
Abby can live but Joel should survive.
I was a Joel Edition customer, I learned about what happened in part 2 ahead of the game's release and I didn't even like Ellie, then they killed Joel and made Ellie the main character beside Abby. There was nothing there for me. Like watching a Hulk movie without Hulk. I hear the gameplay is great but with so much focus on story telling and a story you have literally no interest in I chose to skip it. Found it cheap at a Black Friday sale at $5. Haven't started it.

Ellie wakes up to realize TLOU2 was just a really bad dream.

Cuckman takes a 6 iron to the head

Metroid Dread
- Make the world more pleasant to explore (seriously, Hollow Knight has a plesant world to explore!) and make those fu**ing EMMIs less random to stun, that false and ramdom QTE when samus is grabbed by them is one of the most stupid things Ive ever saw.

BOTW and TOTK
- A Fuck*ng skill tree! It's is amazing that DONKEY KONG of all main Nintendo characters now has a game with a skill tree!

Ocarina Of time (product of its time, i know)
- Camera controls and less friction when adding/removing items, ships of harkinian make the minute-by-minute gameplay SO MUCH BETTER because of those changes...

This thread me realize how bad Okami is. I just started it for the first time ever.

I've never wanted my money back so bad… 20 minutes of mumbo jumbo jabbering, can't fast forward or skip a dialogue box I already read, no gameplay… good God.

It's either skip the entire story set up or light 20 minutes of your life on fire.

I saved… came back like 2 days later. Finished the tutorial area up to the village, and bailed out for now.

The worst impression of a game imaginable,

Not my favorite but I would change Sonic like this:
You can collect 100 rings during a stage but you can choose during the same stage tu use them to power up specific Sonic abilities, for example speed jump or roll
The more rings you use into ad ability the more this is powerful and let you reach specific areas or reach different results
But you have to choose wisely and sometimes decide to leave some areas unexplored cause you choose to explore something else
And maybe you can gain more upgrades during the game that you can feed with rings

I think it could work

Final Fantasy (No not a turn based rant, I like Both action and TB)

Stop with convoluted stories, the older games had twists and stuff, but
There was no meta narrative, multiverse sequel in disguise shit
I enjoy that stuff to an extent, but it's limiting the audience severely, go back to basics. Expedition 33 did this well.

If you insist on continuing down the action route, use KH as a base. Please.

Star Fox

Build off Assault, that game is awesome, stop using it solely for console gimmicks

Paper Mario

Put the RPG back in the Mario RPG, thanks

DMC:
- Focus only on Dante. Use whatever resources that would have gone into making other playable characters to make additional weapons for him.
- Bring back the light exploration of previous games, don't have it just be walking from one combat arena to the next like in 5.
- Make the environments and locations more unique and varied
- Go back a to a slightly more stylized visual style instead of aiming for realism.

Final Fantasy:
- Either go back to turn based or stick with the combat system of Rebirth (I'm fine with both). Stop trying to re-invent the wheel with each new entry.
- Bring back the overworld and make a more classic experience with plenty of towns, cities and unique locations and dungeons, even if they are on the smaller side.
- Make well designed dungeons that give a sense of exploration instead of just being hallways connecting one battle to the next.
- Give the RPG mechanics some depth, either through gear or flexible skill trees or a job system(or all 3), and stop trying to simplify everything to the extreme in order to appeal to casuals.
- Only add content that's actually worthwhile. If it means the main story is "just" 25 hours instead of 50, then so be it. You can have some grindy end game content for those who need more gameplay hours for the sake of "value"
- Tell a compelling fantasy story with non cringe dialogue and don't let Nomura within a 10 Km radius of the writing team.

Souls:
- Improve your tech so you can offer consistent performance on consoles and mid tier PCs
- Add an optional but more straightforward Co-op system.
- Maybe add some sort of journal or menu to make it easier to keep track of quest. I'm not talking quest markers but more something like what Outer Wilds does, where you have a menu that keeps track of your progress and reminds you about the latest things you did and discovered. Some people will complain but I'm pretty sure 90% use online guides for the quests anyway.
- If the continue down the open world path cut the optional content that's just a recycled dungeon with a recycled boss at the end, and maybe add a slightly deeper marker and note taking mechanic on the map.
