It’s about 2.5 pips higher than it was in 2018 but I think it’s because, IIRC, the old version of this test allowed for neutral answers whereas this latest version forces you to pick one or the other, which ends up making me look more radicalized in favor of authoritarianism.

I'm a conservative.

Is that political compass test some sort of trap game? The questions are impossible to answer, just saying they are loaded is an understatement.

edit: Ok, even with my misgivings about the test, I've done it just to play along.

According to the test in the OP, I fall on this George.
Cj2UnC3.jpg
When I was about 15 years old my dad invited a bunch of his business partners to our house. It was supposed to be a fancy thing, he had it catered, we got all new carpets/furniture and had to clean the house top to bottom. We were to be seen not heard basically for a room of 15 or so CEOs, CFOs, COOs etc... anyways In our living room we had a really fancy painting of General Lee and General Grant that my dad was super proud of... well I decided to have a bit of fun with my dad at his expense (as stupid 15 year olds do) so I took this exact picture of George, went to the UPS store and got it blown up to be the size of the Lee/Grant painting and the night before the meeting I taped this one over it... there was eventually lots of laughter once people started to notice and I fessed up to doing it as a prank. But you can all imagine a room of stuffy executives eventually taking notice of the picture and my dad being completely oblivious to it while giving a speech 😂

Thankfully everyone had a good sense of humor about the thing 😂😂😂

I took this 10 years ago and was smack dab in the middle as a centrist.

Today I have drifted to the left/libertarian. I don't follow politics.

Blind dart throwing is where I stand.

Any given topic I could place wherever I feel/react. Humans are complex as fuck, it's stupid to think a simple chart or graph or label can summarise your stance on all the issues out there.

yeah, thank you. I used to consider myself pretty liberal before political correctness got outta hand. Although there is common ground in a lot of partisan stances, i'd hate to just go along with every stance a particular party has. We are complex individuals, and for this reason i'm independent.

Results are a bit surprising i will be honest.

Welcome to the non-reddit non-reeee world where most reality exists. Those places anything a centimeter to the right of the libleft corner is considered a nazi conservative republican trumpster bigot.

Looks like I'm just a milquetoast liberal.

Same here. Let people be. Try to keep the disadvantaged off the streets.

I would be more right leaning, but I think shareholders don't contribute anything other than money with rigid strings attached. I think those that do the work and come up with the ideas should matter.

The hardest questions for me were abortion (because its moral rather than political), pulic funding of broadcasts (I love a lot of shows that PBS has produced in the past, but NPR is propaganda and they only hire lisp voiced cuckolds. I truly have no nicer way of putting it.), and various questions that needed a fifth option.

You misinterpret the word fascism. In Europe this would read differently. A European Conservative party is closer to an American Democrat or rather Center Right in parliament.
Center is the population both socialists and conservatives target in order to win elections. Republicans in Europe would be even further right after center-right. Socialists would be center-left, radical left (think Greece's previous government) or German's Green Party further left, Communists at the end of the left wing. Though most communist parties in Europe have more in common with radical left. Hard-line communists following Stalin are less now. If any anarchist or trotskist party enters, it will be true extrême left. True center parties are very few.
A fascist extreme right party would be like Golden Dawn in Greece with ties to Nazism. They also had a hidden arsenal for who knows what.
Right wing parties in Eastern Europe are not extreme right but hard-line right. Republican MPs share more in common with them actually. Though because both Democrats and Républican parties are so big, they encompass more varied voters, mixing centre-left, center, center-right and hard-line right-wing.

lmao, I was smack dab in the middle, my ass hurts from sittin on this fence too.
The times they are a changin. Being raised in a Christian conservative household, I was always the "firebrand liberal" of the family, but the new left wouldn't touch me with a 10 foot pole and I wouldn't want them to.
I do want universal healthcare, but that's about as liberal as I get in today's climate. I do think that UBI is an inevitability with automation, but we have a few decades to go before we see it.

Don't @ me pinkos :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Seriously though, I've always disliked the framing of the Political Compass questions which seemed designed to elicit a certain response. E.g. straight off the bat: "If economic globalisation is inevitable, it should primarily serve humanity rather than the interests of trans-national corporations", which presupposes that those groups are actually distinct (anyone know any companies which don't employ humans?), or even if they were that the goals couldn't be aligned.

Generally consider myself a classical liberal, though didn't vote in the thread poll as I expect 'liberal' means 'US progressive'

All historical examples of Fascist regimes have started as Socialist (or "worker") parties. How can you square actual historical fact with the assertions you make that are bolded from your quote?

I don't give a fuck about politics.I'ts the most boring shit ever.

You will some day, I would wager.

I'm pretty far right, slightly into the authoritarian sector, if I remember my results from the quiz when I took it awhile ago.

I personally consider myself a tea party/Christian conservative, but I really don't care about regulating what people do in their own homes as long as it doesn't impact my life.

Then those who vote for German Social Democratic Party should be labelled fascists too. Poll is wrong. Fascism is closer to extreme right not far right. Fascists do not want democracy and parliament anyway. When Golden Dawn entered the parliament, all the other parties, from hard right to communists, were against them.

Lol, I've moved MORE to the left than what the results previously showed :D

See here:

Boring results.
I suppose it's because I'm too spineless to make many, if any, "strongly agree" or "strongly disagree" answers.

I'd love to be a conservative. Too bad I adore kinky sex and loathe organized religion as much as I do. Those were the only questions on the test I felt passionate about.

Strangely enough, anti-sexy and anti-sexualization is increasingly becoming a trait of the left. It's really weird.

Me. I hate democracy, especially in a large country like this with no sense of nationhood. Too easily controlled by foreign influences and money. (Maybe at a city state level it could be workable.)

The heritage population of this part of North America is doomed without breaking up the USA or some sort of authoritarian nationalist government.

Libertarian left. I've taken it multiple times and I don't need to take it anymore.

Things I support:
- Capitalism / Free Market
- Individual freedom.
- Small government
- LGBTQ+ freedoms
- Pro Choice
- Auditing the Fed
- Reducing taxation*
- Constitutionalist**
- Anti-war / "World Police"

* I don't want to completely eliminate taxation, because stuff like roads and such should be paid for by Americans to do their part. Though, you could make some civil work like that a private industry in of itself. But I think the way it's setup now is fine, but I still feel that our taxation is not being represented as it should be.

** Firm supporter of the 1st / 2nd Amendments. Though I do believe we should review how guns are being sold. But completely eradicating the amendment would be a massive mistake.

I think this political compass thing is mostly meaningless, and doesn't really say anything of substance.
Same with the whole 2dimensional scale to describe your political beliefs.

For all intents and purposes, Neogaf is perceived as - taking a brief glance at the politics section - a right wing leaning forum (whatever that means).
And that public perception is what ultimately matters.

Like nobody cares if you're Left/Libertarian on the "Political Compass" thingie, even though you're against gay marriage for example.
It's meaningless because it has been purposefully hijacked by leftists to serve their needs sometimes in the 60s and stopped making sense. It literally makes no sense that national socialist party (which mostly consisted of marxist converts) with their super state socialist program would belong on the right. This whole scheme is manufactured so that lefties can call anybody a nazi.

Fascists and National Socialists are not on the right. They belong between communists and liberals.

Fascist and Communist are complete opposite

Is this one of those "real communism has never happened" arguments? All Communist regimes are top-down and authoritarian in practice.
